Sister's Cafe is a delight! Context: we had begun the last leg of a cross-country road trip, but found ourselves stopped in Baker City, Oregon, by a truck wreck and consequent rubbernecker wrecks on I-84. We detoured 200 miles around the closed highway, and emerged onto a clear I-84 at Pendleton, OR, in need of good food. Sister's, a warm and welcoming brick-and-wood cafe in Pendleton, treated us immediately like family. As we waited for a Portobello wrap and chili and chai, we got to know one of the owners and one of the cooks, and by meal's end traded stories of our respective encounters with big and imposing wildlife. We were grateful for their charm and humor, and especially grateful for the food. The chili was expertly seasoned, had ideal ratios of meat to tomato to onion, and came with a side of potato salad that was neither too creamy nor too dry. The wrap was exactly what we needed, too: liberally mushroomed and stuffed with good greens, but not forgetful of other accompanying vegetables. The chai, beyond the steep, was made to order with several additional ingredients, all of which we tried during the process, as if we were brewing it ourselves at home. To sum up: great atmosphere, friendly proprietors and staff, and delicious food. Any time I come through again I will be sure to stop here! read more

This was a nice change from a Starbucks but as my husband put it, "They think they are too cool for school". They service an assortment of breakfast and lunch foods as well as espresso. Our two sandwiches with a cup of soup and 2 sodas was over $20. When I received my soup, although it was very good, it was only luke-warm. The sandwiches were delicious and well made. This place is lovely! Sisters Cafe is spacious and the decor is warm and inviting. We were traveling from Sun Valley Idaho to Portland and the delicious sandwiches and craft beers were a treat for us weary travelers. If I really wanted to be picky I would suggest a changing table in one of the bathrooms for a little one. We will most certainly make this a regular stop. read more

Easily the best food town. Everything on the menu shows real creativeness and ingenuity. Reasonably priced food and drinks as well. The only flaw is the service. They tried to go for a market style but they tell you to take a seat and then you end up waiting for 10 to 15 min for a waitress to make contact. If they hired a hostess and put a please wait to be seated sign out when busy, it would make the experience so much better. I recommend the sisters burger which has gorganzola cheese and bacon on it! Ordered a shrimp salad....Six garlicky warm shrimp on very fresh greens, avacado, almonds, cucumbers and tomatoes....Such a treat in the winter. And real iced tea. I placed a to go order over the phone with this establishment on the afternoon of September 25, 2021. I had an appointment at a near by salon and walked from the salon to Sister's to pick up my order. When I got back to the salon I had noticed half my order was missing so I called them. I had explained to the gal what had happened and asked if she could walk my food the two blocks next door since I was now late for my apt. She says, "We are just too busy to do that!" Ummmm, excuse me?? No you were not. I just left the establishment and IT WAS YOUR MISTAKE! There is nothing worse or more disrespectful than an employee telling a paying customer to basically F@%$ Off after they forgot her order that she paid for and making the customer re-to rack her steps and fix Sister's mistake! Not a good thing for a small buisness in a small town to be doing. Maybe this establishment needs reminded of who keeps them open and in buisness. Not too busy at 7pm Saturday this time of year. My wife had the chicken bacon wrap. What can you do with a wrap? Apparently a lot, because she said it was especially tasty. I had the lobster Mac & cheese. Was it lobster? Langostino? Who knows? I only know it tasted excellent. read more

Food is good, but service is poor. There is a drink menu written on chalk boards against the far wall but no food menu. There was a food menu right when you walk in that you can look at but you have to go to the back to the cash register to order. There are menus available at the cash register to look at but it's inconvenient since you have to stand there to look over the menu to see what you want to order while others wait behind you to order also. Prices were a little steep especially for the amount of food you get. If you order a sandwich, you don't get a side except a little, itty-bitty condiment cup of potato salad. The food was good. Service. Not the friendliest. Once you order, all you see of anyone is when they bring your food. We had to ask for our drinks and napkins. Pendleton is a nice town from when we visited but if we visit again, this will not be a place we stop. read more

Loved the building, staff was plesant but not super profesional. Maybe the owner, she looked like a picture on the wall. Everything took forever. Do not go there for a quick lunch. We were maybe 1 of 3 tables. Some of the food was super yummy. The calimari was nice. Not chewy a light batter on it. I just wish it had more flavor and a different sauce. I did not like the sauce. I asked for a hot coffee and revived an iced one. I would have said something but I did not feel like waiting another 25 minutes for a different drink. My kids grilled cheese tasted like they had been waiting 15 or 20 minutes in back. I some times feel like people think children don't understand well cooked food. Again I just did not have time to wait for things to be redone. So yes I would go there and try other food. I will not go there if I am in a hurry. The food was priced on the higher end of reasonable. $12 for a burger. Really the only reason I have it 3 stars is because it took so long and the grilled cheeses were cold. read more

My mother and I stopped in for the first time as she wanted to treat me for lunch on my birthday. The place was mostly empty and cold. We had a hard time finding the menu as only the drink menu was displayed hugely on the back wall. The staff member who took our order clearly didn't care that we were even there. She avoided eye contact and chatted with someone she clearly knew down the bar in between my mother's and my order. I will start out about the food by saying that if we didn't have to pay for it ahead of time, there is no way we would have stayed and eaten it. Maybe that is why you pay a head? The bill was $21.95 After ordering a turkey cranberry wrap, the southwestern turkey panini, and a soy blended peppermint mocha, we waited for 32 minutes before anything arrived. Again there were maybe 6 people in the entire place. My drink came with whipped cream. This is a problem as I am allergic to dairy. I made that politely clear to the staff upon ordering. I asked her very politely if she could remove the whipped cream. She then proceeded to inform me it was made with whole milk. She looked quite annoyed and took it back to make a new one. Our food arrived 10 minutes after the first drink arrived and we were quite underwhelmed. My sad panini was less than an inch think with the outside of the bread quite toasty and the inside soggy. It had 1 small thin slice of avocado on each half, 2 pepperonicinis, 1 ring of an onion, and 2 slices of deli turkey. It was supposed to come with aioli mayonnaise. They forgot and I had to ask for some which caused her to look even more annoyed. The turkey cranberry wrap was also disappointing. It was discovered quite quickly that the same cheap turkey deli meat that was used for my panini, was also used for the wrap. After that disappointment my mother then found a few rancid walnuts. The final blow to this wrap was the herbed tortilla. The flavors did not meld well at all. I would think that if you are going to charge almost $9 each the food would be higher quality. For example using a real roasted turkey breast. The only redeeming thing about the meal was the potato salad. It was the best potato salad we had ever tried in any restaurant. It tasted like grandma made it. Overall I will not ever recommend this restaurant to any friends or family that visit us or live here. I will not be back. read more

Traveled through Pendleton for the night and found Sisters in downtown. So glad we did!! Fantastic place! The lava cake is divine and the service is the best! Everyone was so warm and kind. They treat everyone who comes in like friends. The turkey club and sweet potato fries were delicious! I plan to stop here every time we come here. read more

We came here for lunch with our 3 kids. I really liked the location of this cafe as well as the ambience inside. It was very well put together. We got their macaroni & cheese, a salad and a couple of sandwiches. My 3 year old didn't like their mac n' cheese, but my daughters, husband and I loved it. I wish I could get their recipe. This is one of the finest restaurants this side of the cascades. The service is great and food is wonderful. This is the only place I would buy my pizza pie. I grew up making pizza in New Jersey and Chicago and their pizza is right on the mark. Awesome. Only thing I would add to menu calzones. I ate a portobello mushroom wrap, spring salad and a chocolate chip cookie Friday night, then a veggie wrap and a chicken wrap with another chocolate chip cookie (so moist!) Saturday for lunch. A menu with mostly burgers isn't what I start looking for; however, Sisters is an exception! Friendly staff, quiet atmosphere & wonderful, different burgers are worth the effort. My Sweetie had the California burger, avocado, bacon & cheese were a taste treat for her. My Manburger was THE BEST!!! Hamburger patty with cheese, bacon, ham, and outstanding pulled pork was almost too big to get in my mouth. Very satisfying!!! Stopped here looking for a non fast food breakfast .....what a perfect choice ! My husband had the buttery breakfast croissant and I had the breakfast wrap! Both were phenomenal!! We stopped here on the way to Portland and we are so glad we did! The waitress warned us that anything we order will be AMAZING and sure enough, it was. My mac in cheese had so much flavor, salad was great. My husband's sandwich and fries were delightful. I have never liked Moscow Mules until I had one here at Sister's Cafe. We stopped in Pendleton for lunch on a cross country drive and decided we preferred to find a nice local place in the downtown area. We parked and walked around a bit before settling on this nice cafe on the corner. There is a big sandwich bar in front of you as you enter. Not a lot of baked goods but a list of sandwiches and soups and some tables near the windows. I had a turkey cranberry wrap that was I thought at first too big, until I started eating and realized there was quite a bit of lettuce in there too. The soup was fair and the sandwiches my companions had they enjoyed. Service was friendly if a bit slow but we weren't in a huge hurry either so we felt free to relax and sit awhile. There is larger dining room in back too and I believe this may have been the lobby of the building at one time as the restaurant seems to wrap itself around the building stairway. read more

Arrived the day before Pendleton rodeo, and the town was setting up. Read recent reviews of Sister's Cafe, and it was close to our hotel so we walked over about 20 minutes before closing. I had the chicken pasta, it was delicious, with vine ripened cherry tomatoes, just the right amount of sauce and bacon, and tender grilled chicken. The side salad was almost a meal with leaf lettuce, juicy tomatoes and onion. My husband had the Sister's burger, he said it was great. There was a decent selection of beer on tap and more wines than I would have expected. We don't drive this direction too often, but will definitely stop by on our next trip to Boise. Really liked the ambience. The survey questions don't have a category for "comfortable", but this space (which is new for restaurant) has tables and chairs, cushion chairs with side tables, a bar and a high table with bar chairs. The town is a western theme, and though this was not saloon-like it had a western feel. read more
