I set up an appointment ahead of time and they were ready for me when I arrived. A quick restroom visit and I was ready for what lay ahead. Disrobe and get under the sheet. I was quick about it and it was game on. Now if you aren't familiar with Shiatsu, let me tell you - it isn't for the faint of heart. Unlike Swedish or relaxing massage, Shiatsu is more like deep tissue massage on steroids. At similar companies in the past, they use knees, elbows, forearms, and finally, feet to perform the massage. My session today did not include getting walked on, but everything else was utilized. The pressure can be intense at times, but the masseuse can always back off a bit if it gets to be too much. I suppose I need to request medium pressure next time. At various intervals along the way, stretching was employed. I am no spring chicken, and I don't bend as easily as I used to. Actually, I hardly bend much anymore, so the stretching was somewhat intense for me. Again, the masseuse can always back off a bit if need be. Most of my session was face down, as is typical. When it was time to flip over, in addition to massage, there was more stretching to take place. Arms, legs, torso, hands, feet, fingers and toes. They all got stretched. I didn't experience much facial and head massage, but my neck was worked over pretty well. Once the hour-and-a-half session was complete, I felt like a Gumby that had been worked over by a 4 year old! By the time I was dressed and ready to pay on the way out, everything felt fine. The intense massage didn't leave any pain for me to endure. If you think you could benefit from more than a deep tissue massage, this might be the place for you. $80 for an hour, $120 for 90 minutes. Something called to me today and boy am I glad I stopped. I ended up having a 30 min acupressure session with Ke. It was extremely relaxing and just what I needed to destress after a busy work week. Ke managed to hit all my trouble spots in my neck and shoulders. Not to be crass but I always a good butt massage because people often forget that your butt connects your back and legs so much stress stems from there. Ke didn't miss a beat but was extremely professional. I noticed there are cameras in the treatment area too so no one can claim otherwise. For $30 this was worth every penny. As soon as I walked in I was greeted and immediately brought to the area to get worked on. I scheduled a 20 minute foot detox 20 minute reflexology and 30 minutes of massage. There were two people there, a man and a woman. The woman was easy to communicate with and understand but the man new little to no English so the lady translated for him. I had the man work on me and he did a wonderful job throughout. He really helped loosen my super tight muscles and was a very kind man. I will definitely return to Life Studio.
