And in a dream, far far in the future, maybe Sip n Dip will actually install an electronic speaker for ordering in their drive thru instead of needing to shout the order to someone down the line of cars over a 30 feet distance. I'll never quite understand the local tendency to grab Sip n Dip. Years ago it was nothing special and felt the same way today. We came here on a busy weekend afternoon, thirsty as heck, for a quick drink. My gf ordered a flavored iced coffee and I wanted an iced tea. The tea came out extremely strong to the point where it was acidic and bitter. It seemed like the tea bags must had steeped in the dispenser all day and this was the end of that batch. The iced coffee was essentially a giant cup full of ice and we got the wrong flavor. We also got a muffin that seemed loaded with oils (definitely not butter) yet was super dry and crumbly. Ended up getting heartburn, yuck. On top of it, the 2 staff running things that day were somehow distracted and our order sat before us in the drive up window for a few minutes until someone finally came over and let us pay and go. All that, for two undrinkable drinks and a heartburn muffin. Totally underwhelming experience.

So we walked by this place while trying to get to lunch. We decided to not have dessert at lunch…read moreand come back because I've heard good things and there was a long line inside when I looked when we walked by. When we walked in, the was no longer a line and there was a reason. You need to come here early. I mean before 11am early. They will sell out. When we walked in, there were only a few donuts left, 1 row of crullers, 1 row of GF crullers and half a row of churro crullers. My husband hates crullers, but they're my favorite donut, so I thought I was the only one who was going to get one. I may have said this out loud and I think one of the people working felt bad for us, so she produced a box of gorgeous donuts and let us know that someone hadn't picked up their order and we could choose from this box if we liked. There were a few my husband would like, so we bought 4 of them. Holy moly! These donuts are fan-freaking-tastic!!! They were a little too big for me and kind of greasy to be perfectly honest, but they were also so soft and fluffy, with a crisp exterior. The flavors were bold and delicious and they were even good the next day when I ate my second one.

I stopped by on a Friday morning and it wasn't too busy. I took a look at the availability of donuts and ordered a Coconut Mocha (cake) and Honey Cruller (flourless). The coconut mocha is made of vanilla cake, vanilla glaze, toasted coconut, and mocha drizzle. It reminded me of Girl Scout Samoas cookies. I've gotten the honey cruller previously and always enjoyed it. PVDonuts is always a good place for donuts. I also liked that these donuts are a little smaller than the filled ones and less sweet.

My kids absolutely light up every time we tell them we're going, and it's become our special treat tradition. The boba tea and iced coffees are spectacular too; genuinely some of the best we've had, and we always end up ordering both when we stop in. The space itself is small, which makes sense since it's tucked inside a gas station, but it is so cute. I love the artwork on the walls from other customers. It gives the whole place such a warm, homemade, community feel that matches the food perfectly. What really won us over, though, was the donut king cake. My husband is from Deep South Louisiana, and finding an authentic king cake outside of the South isn't easy. I was able to commission one here, and it came out absolutely perfect. It brought a real taste of home to our family. Incredible donuts, amazing drinks, and a team willing to go the extra mile for a special request. We cannot recommend the Portsmouth location of New England Homemade Donuts enough! I don't have any pictures sadly but ugh, I cannot recommend them enough!

If you are ever in the Newport area, you have to try this place! My husband and I went to Newport…read morefor Valentine's Day and saw this place on our way to Newport from our hotel. We had to go for breakfast the next morning. Our moths dropped at how many varieties and everything else they had. We spent $30 but we came away with more than we would have at Dunkin's! We got two of the malassadas, a Boston cream, an apple fritter, a bow tie, a coffee roll, one of their giant donuts, two zeppoles, and a coffee roll and hot chocolate. We knew we would only eat the malassadas and one other donut. We planned to bring the coffee roll, the giant donuts, and zeppoles home to share. We ended up bringing all of that plus the bow tie and apple fritter. The malassada filled me up and my husband ate his and most of his Boston cream. The malassada is a deep fried roll with sugar on it. Think of a thick (about an inch) fried dough. It was so soft and heavenly u like fried dough. My husband's donut was so good. I tried it and it had a very nice ratio of chocolate, delicious custard, and donut. Probably one of the best I've had in a long time. The service was great! The guy that took our order was super patient and explained what stuff was. The zeppole isn't the Italian ones we are used to but it has a Portuguese twist. It is a Portuguese donut instead of an Italian pastry. I can't wait to try it tonight!

For example, the apple fritters have no apple... it's not an apple fritter it's just a hunk of fried dough coated with glaze. Honestly the most disappointing thing I've experience in a long time. It sucks to see a great business get taken over and completely trashed.
