After a disastrous experience at another clinic I decided to switch to the BJC clinic in Cuba, MO…read more I live locally, but if you're coming from out of town, take Exit #208 from Highway 44. The clinic is located just East of the Walmart parking lot. There is ample parking with disabled parking spots right in front of the door. COVID procedures: The clinic asks that everyone wears a mask upon entering. Some seats are blocked off with tape to encourage social distancing. Staff will talk to you through a glass partition and all paperwork is contactless. As far as I know you need to have a recent negative Covid test in order to be accepted as a new patient, but please call them and double check this policy. GENDER POLICY: There is a spot on the initial paperwork to enter your legal name/gender, preferred name/gender. Staff will address patients by preferred name/gender. The clinic is open Mo-Fri 7:30am-4:30pm. It is staffed by a doctor, an OB-GYN and a nurse practitioner. Appointments are easy to get and they will work with your schedule. Since January of this year I have visited five times and have received services from the Nurse Practioner (she functions as my main health care provider), the OB-GYN and the doctor. All three are professional, explaing procedures and best practices ahead of time and making sure I am comfortable. Tests like sleep studies, X-rays, etc. are referred to BJC Hospital in Sullivan (17 miles away) and appointments there are also easy to get. This clinic as well as the entire BJC Healthcare system offers "My Chart" as an online portal. That makes sending a message to my health care provider super easy and she usually responds within 24 hours. I had a major health issue and messaged the Nurse Practioner asking for an appointment. Within 4 hours I received a call from the Nurse asking that I come in immediately to deal with the problem. Test results are usually available at the online portal within 24 - 72 hours (I get an e-mail alert when they are available), but staff will also contact me by phone. I had to take a test at the Hospital for a recent health scare on Thursday morning and was called on Friday morning to let me know that my test results were negative even though the actual test results were not available on the online portal until Saturday afternoon. That saved me from having to worry about this over the weekend. Prescription renewals are also easy to get. However, this clinic will not prescribe narcotics as a rule and will refer you to a pain clinic within their system if that is what you need. I haven't had to take advantage of this yet, but I assume that this too is very professional. I can't say enough good things about this clinic. Cuba is a very small town and to have top-notch health care just minutes from home is a great relief.

They're not a group of doctors that just care about numbers and getting people in for money or just doping you up and sending you away. The office is very clean and professional and I would recommend this office to anyone who needs a primary care physician as their doctors are friendly and seem like they genuinely care about your well being. Towne Pharmacy is located inside the Mace Grocery store on Franklin Street in Cuba, MO…read more Covid protocol: No masks required. Staff works behind a large plexiglass screen and keeps person-to-person contact to an absolute minimum. A drive-up window and delivery service (within city limits) are also available. This pharmacy offers Covid booster shots but you need an appointment. I'm not sure if there is a fee. We switched to Towne Pharmacy after a disastrous experience at a Mass retailer pharmacy. The bad part: right before the pandemic Towne Pharmacy underwent an organizational change. The resulting disorganisation was terrible to say the least. Thankfully that's all behind them. And now for all the good parts: We order 24 different medications each month. That is a lot for anyone to keep track off, but somehow this Pharmacy manages. They have also managed to make sure we get all the medications on the same day each month. This was made partly possible by giving partial refills one month and catching up the next but a Pharmacist familiar with Medicare/Medicaid billing played the biggest part in this. They will automatically order refills and I don't have to constantly call the doctor's office trying to keep track of what needs to be refilled, what needs to be deleted and availability dates. Huge peace of mind right there! Towne Pharmacy also offers "Medpack" at no extra charge. All your medications for each day are in a little packet and all you have to do is open it and swallow the content. We took advantage of this for about six month and it worked great. There was an envelope for morning, afternoon and nighttime medicines. We stopped using the service because of frequent dosage changes, not because there was something wrong with it. It just wasn't something that worked for us at the time. They also offer compound medications. Getting their medication in forms other than pills can be great for someone who cannot swallow or for small children. The coumpound medication can take the form of liquids or lollipops. Again, no extra charge. They are very responsive when there are medication/dosage changes. I call them to alert them that the doctor has changed/added a medication and they will bring the new medication as soon as it becomes available. Most of the time it's the same or the next day depending on what time I call them. In very rare cases has a medication not been available or could only be partially filled because the Pharmacy didn't have sufficient quantities on hand. In that case I either get a phone call or the delivery person will alert me that they will bring the rest of the medication as soon as they get it. Again, that usually happens the next day. We live within city limits, so I take advantage of the free delivery. The delivery driver calls mid morning to let me know they are coming and I will get the medication in the early afternoon. They have occasionally also delivered in the late afternoon, but that seldom happens. As far as I know Towne Pharmacy accepts most insurance plans. I have yet to think of a question that I can ask them that they were not able to answer. Maybe in the next five years I think of one.
