This was a fun pub. They had live music in the evening and it amazes me how talented these musicians were. It's a cozy spot and has kitschy decor, which is everything we were looking for in a pub. It was close to our hotel too, which I really appreciated since it was cold and rainy that evening, so we needed a fun (dry) place to be. It has bar seating as well as a few tables (no upstairs area). Credit cards accepted.

I was unsure of this place when I walked in...it's very crowded and very hot. Still, we pushed our way to the back where the band was playing. That's when I have a change of heart about this pub. To be clear, by band I actually mean group of strangers that showed up at the bar with instruments. Apparently this is common practice in Ireland. If you want to have a jam session, you just show up and play. We stayed for a while, had a Guinness, and enjoyed the music. It's an experience I plan to enjoy each time I visit Ireland.

The atmosphere in this pub is always amazing. The setting is very cosy with old chairs and tables upstairs, even two older barber's chairs can be found upstairs! Lighting is always quite dim with candles lit on every table. All candles are placed in old whiskey bottles which really gives an old time feel to the place. The feeling you get is like being comfy at home! They have great trad sessions and the staff are always friendly and efficient. Walls and ceilings are adorned with old posters, postcards, photos, dollar bills from all over the world and any other memorabilia you can think of! It's very well heated pub , sometimes can get hot upstairs beside the radiators but the windows are always open for a lovely breeze to cool you down. I usually order a hot port , my favourite winter drink ! This place always gives me warm feelings, it's pure cork, like. :)

It is a cozy place, warm and small with an ecclectic, dark decor. I love coming here to listen to the trad sessions. Sitting upstairs is pretty relaxing too. Sunday night is a good night to go but for some reason I am not able to tick off the box below.

Loved this spot the most out of every pub I visited in Cork. The atmosphere was comfortable and easy going, really authentic and awesome memories and decor on the walls and ceiling! Love the touch with the candles in the bottles. The local music was incredible, and I'd recommend this pub to anyone visiting Cork! My waiter at a restaurant around the corner referred me to them, and I'm so glad he did. Will be back next time I'm in town!

    Gotta drink at them all!

They have traditional Irish music 7 days a week and it's the perfect late night spot.

I paired it with one of their locally brewed lagers, which was crisp, refreshing, and a great match for the meal. The biggest surprise was the mushroom soup. It was rich, velvety, and absolutely exquisite, served with warm house made bread that was impossible to stop eating. What truly made the experience exceptional was the hospitality. Every member of the staff was warm, welcoming, and genuinely made us feel at home. Fresh local ingredients, fantastic beer, unforgettable food, and wonderful service. Market Lane deserves every bit of its five stars. Highly recommended!

Had another visit today 23/02/2026 for dinner, ordered two appetizers and one dessert…read more The chicken liver pate was nice, rich and creamy liver flavor went well with the crispy fry bread and sour pickles. Small pork pie's pastry had some slightly overburnt and had spots, but it was crispy overall. The filling was seasoned nicely, but could use a bit more gravy or juice. The blackberry sundae with ice cream was nicely done, silky texture ice cream, sundae was rich in blackberry flavor. Other elements provide a diversity of mouthfeel, but I felt some of them were a bit of nuisance as their textures sometimes did not feel harmonized together.
