Oakmont Memorial Park

Oakmont Memorial Park

My dad passed away in June. As hard as it was, the staff at Oakmont made the process of laying him…read moreto his final resting place easy, and convenient. They were understanding and Stacy went out of her way to care for us, especially my mom. The view was spectacular and though he's only need done almost two months, I have visited him about a dozen times. Sitting and reminiscing in the quiet has been such a healing process. Though it's a bit expensive, it was with every dollar we spent.

After losing our son to a 4 day battle with Leukemia, we purchased a boulder memorial space at…read moreOakmont based on the clear representation that it was different from a traditional grave site -- that this space was yours to personalize and decorate, with things like garden items, sculptures, and other meaningful memorial touching items . That representation mattered to us. We chose this space for a reason. It has been a huge part of our grieving process and allows us to "do" things for our son. Recently, Oakmont removed and threw away all of our items from our son's memorial space, including items that were not prohibited. These were not random decorations -- they were personal, sentimental memorial items placed with love and care over time. What makes this even worse is that Carriage Services customer service initially seemed understanding and told me they would get back to me by last week. They did not. So at this point, in addition to the distress of having meaningful items discarded, we are also being met with silence from carriage services (Oakmont apparently follows their direction?!?). Oakmont has been kind to me post throwing away my sons items but has no answers and will no longer honor the space to be used as sold. If Oakmont intended to treat these boulder spaces the same as standard grave spaces, that should have been made clear at the time of sale. It was not. These spaces were sold with the understanding that families had greater freedom to create a personal memorial. Throwing away memorial items without clear notice, while failing to follow up afterward, is deeply upsetting and unacceptable. Not so much as a phone call prior to trashing his items despite no rules against boulders having items ever employed. Families deserve honesty about what they are buying, clear rules, and basic respect. A place that was once a place of healing and peace is now a place of trauma. Apparently after calling carriage services, they are putting items on shelves - so if you have a space you may have the opportunity to retrieve your items - an opportunity we weren't given.

This review is long overdue, but it is so well deserved…read more Last year, we laid my dad to rest at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery, and I want to sincerely thank George and Priscilla for the exceptional care they provided to my family during one of the most difficult times of our lives. My dad lost his battle with cancer, and saying goodbye to him was the hardest experience I have ever faced. Priscilla handled all of the cemetery arrangements, while George managed the funeral, church, and burial services with incredible compassion and professionalism. During a time filled with grief, stress, and uncertainty, George and Priscilla were a source of comfort and guidance. They made a very difficult process feel seamless and treated our family with kindness, dignity, and genuine care every step of the way. They far exceeded our expectations, and I truly don't know what we would have done without them. Queen of Heaven is a beautiful and peaceful cemetery nestled in the foothills of Lafayette. The grounds are serene and impeccably maintained, and the chapel is one of the most beautiful cemetery churches I have ever seen. Knowing my dad rests in such a special place brings our family comfort. I was also told they offer a monthly Saturday memorial service to honor and remember loved ones who have recently passed. As Cancer Awareness Month comes to a close, I find myself reflecting on my dad's life and the impact cancer has on so many families. This month, I completed a cycling fundraiser to help raise awareness and support the fight against cancer in memory of my dad and for all those who have passed away or continue to battle this disease. It reminded me how precious life truly is. What I've learned through this journey is simple: if there are things you've always wanted to do, places you've wanted to see, or people you've wanted to spend time with, do it now. Don't wait. Life is precious, and it passes by far too quickly. Thank you, George, Priscilla, and the entire team at Queen of Heaven. This review may be long overdue, but our gratitude remains just as strong today as it was a year ago. We will never forget your kindness, compassion, and the comfort you brought our family during our darkest days. In loving memory of my dad.

He was such a good man. When I walked in to see him for the first time, he had been presented with so much dignity. The room they recommended was the perfect size for our group, intimate enough that it never felt empty, and large enough that we felt respected and not crowded. They arranged flowers, a spray and music that were true to him. They never rushed us. Everyone was compassionate, and they balanced clear, caring communication with real empathy in their eyes when they looked at you. The loss was so unexpected and we didn't know what to do, so they educated us gently and took care of the details so I didn't have to think and could focus on my father and our loved ones and truly mourn. I knew I was in the hands of true professionals with deep experience, including with families of many cultures. They were understanding with every guest and thoughtful in the small ways they arranged the day. I would never wish this experience on anyone, but it's part of life. I came away thinking of my father on that day, celebrated with joy, love and dignity. I feel a sense of peace and closure for his life, and Diablo Valley helped our family feel that on such an emotional day. I will be forever grateful to their team.

When I found myself in that heartbreaking situation, Bari made me feel like I had all the support in the world. From the very beginning, they treated me and my family with genuine compassion, kindness, and respect. They made us feel like human beings going through an unimaginable loss not like just another customer or another check. Everything was explained clearly, patiently, and with so much care. There were no surprises, and they made sure we understood every step of the process. During one of the most difficult times of my life, having people who truly cared made such a difference. Bari gave us comfort when we needed it most and helped make an incredibly painful process a little easier. I am beyond grateful for the way they cared for my loved one and for the compassion they showed my family.

From the very beginning, their team was patient, compassionate, and never made us feel rushed or pressured. After a previous experience with another funeral home where everything felt urgent, this was completely different. The atmosphere here was serene, welcoming, and allowed us the space to breathe, ask questions, and make decisions with care. We genuinely felt supported every step of the way. Because of this experience, I now feel inspired to plan my own arrangements ahead of time so my family can focus on grieving and being together, rather than navigating logistics during such a painful time. I am deeply grateful for the care they provided. 10/10, and I would highly recommend them to anyone in need of compassionate and professional funeral services.

I would have highly recommend ed and given them 5 stars even then. But now, I'd give them 10 stars if I could. They were amazing as I navigated through last minute, challenging complications with my mom's remains leading up to her burial.... and they didn't even handle her or cremate her when she passed (an East Bay mortuary did). They truly went above and beyond even coming to pick up my moms remains at my home and finding a way to ensure it would arrive safely close to her burial site since I could not take her on a plane with her urn. They were kind, compassionate, professional, thorough, and go above and beyond at a time when it's really needed. Thank you Eugene, in particular!

Unfortunately, our experience was deeply disappointing and added unnecessary stress during one of the most difficult times in our lives. We were informed at the last minute that the funeral home would not be creating the memorial video as promised, leaving our family to produce it ourselves under tremendous emotional pressure. We were then told just one day before the services that the funeral programs also would not be completed, forcing our family to scramble to prepare and print them at our own expense. Most distressing of all were the concerns regarding the condition of our loved one during the viewing and funeral services. What appeared to be excessive embalming fluid leakage was upsetting to family members and took away from what should have been a dignified opportunity to say goodbye. The combination of unfulfilled services, poor communication, last-minute surprises, and the condition of our loved one made an already painful experience even more difficult. We have requested an explanation, the embalmer's information, and reimbursement for services that were not provided as agreed. Families place an enormous amount of trust in a funeral home during their most vulnerable moments. Sadly, our experience did not reflect the level of professionalism, compassion, or preparation we expected.
