There's not a thing wrong with the place. Unlimited bbq (pork, chicken, beef) and sides, live music, line dancing. Deserts and drinks (that aren't tea, coffee, water - which are included in the price) are a dollar or two extra. They only take cash, so make sure you account for that. read more

The place is absolutely amazing everyone needs to try the BBQ the people the atmosphere the music everything is perfect. The only thing I did not like was the beef but thats just my choice of opinion read more

Food here was excellent. Came in to experience the square dancing and it was truly a great experience. This place is enormous, and the place was quite clean and the food was astounding. For a place that sells itself on its experience, the food was phenomenal. read more

This was si disappointing. We traveled over 30 minutes to the middle of nowhere to try this place only to find it was cash only. It is nowhere on their webpage, facebook anything. When we asked abput they asked us if we knew where an ATM was. We were in the middle of nowhere how the heck should I know. read more

All you can eat BBQ. The food is very tasty at this family owned business. You're going to feel welcome. There is live music, dancing and line dancing. A perfect family friendly place for newborns to great grandparents. Plan to eat and stay til closing time (at 8:30) because you'll have the best evening and smile and enjoy yourself. The service is sure to please. It's a real gem. Definitely worth checking out. read more

Sims is a perfect family BBQ restaurant. There is lots of food; all you can eat, plus, there is no alcohol. The hours are limited to just Friday and Saturday evenings. We had a group of 16 folks; we got through the line in no time. The all-you-can-eat price is just $16 per person; no tax is added. They only take cash. The menu is limited; but it is really good. It is located way out in the country in an old barn. In some places you can see daylight though walls; however, on a cold January evening it was warm enough for everyone. . read more

The food is really good but the combination of atmosphere and food makes this a great place to visit. Very unique.

Love love love Sims!! Great food, atmosphere and music. Highly recommend to anyone who loves NC Bbq!

If you want to experience true Southern lifestyle, head up to Sim's BBQ one night. It's amazing. It's like traveling to another world. Sim's is basically a large barn structure and every Friday and Saturday night they serve up awesome Carolina barbecue and sweet tea. There is usually a fun bluegrass band and tons of people clogging. There is no alcohol or smoking there. Just lots of good, clean clogging fun. It's a great place to take out-of-town guests who want a memorable experience. You'll likely stick out and possibly feel awkward, but it's worth it. By the way, it's out in the middle of the nowhere and hard to find in the dark, so read the directions on the web site carefully before you go. read more

Sims Country BBQ - Barbeque Near Me - Granite Falls, North Carolina

To clarify, this is not s buffet, it's all you can eat BBQ. A reviewer was complaining about the selection. Of course you're not going to get a variety, it's all you can eat BBQ! What you get for $11.75: -Pork BBQ -Beef BBQ (all meat has no sauce, as its Carolina style) -Roasted chicken -Cole slaw -Homemade baked beans -Pickles -Cornmeal fritters -Potato chips -Sliced bread -Rolls Additional items: -Dessert $1 -Pitcher of tea $2.50 There is live entertainment including clogging, singing and music (banjo or spoons.) There is a nearby pond, horseshoe pits, rocking chairs by the fireplace, and you can interact and dance to the band. This place reminds me of a southern pig pickin' and the building looks like an old chicken house. It's not fancy, it's not high end but it's a great time to take the family and spend the evening! Oh, bring cash too! They only accept cash or a check! read more

Love this place, our family has gone to Sims for years. This barbecue place is very family friendly with buffet style line all you can eat for one price. They have bands that play and is so much fun. Come hungry! read more

If you're willing to take a hike (or a long drive), this is a good "one of a kind" option in the area. Sims is CASH ONLY, so be prepared. There is not an ATM on site. Another reviewer accurately described the buffet and prices. The real thrill of Sims is the live bluegrass music and sometimes clogging (dancing). For me, the buffet is kind of a crap shoot for what you're paying. Bread isn't warm, seems to be straight from the bag off the shelf. The meats are pretty good, but there are only 2 sauce options, vinegar (spicy) or "regular" bbq sauce (like original recipe that you'd find at the grocery store). Be prepared to pay for drinks after you pay for your meal, they aren't included... or desserts.. so they use the term "buffet" pretty loosely. read more

What a fun place! Great music, very nice staff and you just might run into people you know. But the food leaves much to be desired. Everything is so bland. From the slaw to the meats. The decor is supposed to be rustic I understand, but still the public eats here. Just think the environment could look a little fresher. read more

This place is a hidden gem but bring cash. My family moved to the area from NY and if you want authentic NC food and atmosphere, this is the place for it. The food is traditional NC BBQ and is definitely no frills but is very tasty. The corn fritters are a must. And while you're dining you get some great entertainment. This place is great for families, seniors, pretty much anyone! We even picked up a beautiful hand carved birdhouse on our way out. If you live anywhere near this place you have to try it. Love, love, love this place :) read more

Sims Country BBQ - Doing the chicken dance! - Barbeque Near Me - Granite Falls, North Carolina

Sim's Country Bar-B-Q is certainly THAT! Nestled in a big field, down a dirt road, in a Barn no less! I took my ( 25 yr old) son, my (20 yr old) daughter and my (23 month old) granddaughter, and they all loved the food, but talk about atmosphere, this place has it!! We loved the rustic charm of the restaurant, and the blue grass music was the icing on the cake! My granddaughter danced herself silly! It was a great time, and well all be back soon!! Looking forward to bringing other friends and family here. This restaurant is one of the reasons I love calling North Carolina HOME! read more

You'll drive down country roads until you see a sign for Simm's. Then down a gravel road until a pond is in front of you. Park on the grass and walk in to the big shack. I've read the other reviews, and true, this isn't the best bar-b-que but this place is the old south! All you can eat, clogging, with great bluegrass bands. All in a place you couldn't find anywhere but the south. read more

Sims might be great if you have a certain group that you need to feed. Maybe kids and old people? But it probably won't satisfy the pallet of your average adventurous Yelper. FOOD The buffet price is $10.75. All you can eat, does no include dessert or drinks. The buffet basically includes 3 types of meat (chicken, pork, beef), coleslaw, beans, corn cakes, pickles, potato chips.... and that's it. If I ordered what I ate from the average BBQ joint, it would be about $5. Don't get me wrong the food is really delicious! I had the pork and it was excellent. Slaw was good. Beans were OK. I just wish there was more variety, or a lower price. ENTERTAINMENT The band was really cool and really good. Lots of people clogging and kids dancing - it's a good family fun time. The pond there is also really beautiful and pretty at sunset. I'm giving the food experience 2 stars and the entertainment experience 4 stars, for an average of 3 stars. Would recommend it, depending on the group you are looking to feed. read more

Third time visitor. We wore masks and kept distanced from people around us. When we sat to eat, I noticed people coming in without masks. All the employees had masks but customers were not practicing; slightly disappointing but we had a small table tucked away from others so I felt ok with it. The condiments were sticky so we wrapped napkins around them to handle. Had the beef but it wasn't as good as I recall. Hubby had all three (chicken, pork, beef) and he said pork was the best. They give you a new plate every time you go back to buffet, which is no longer self serve; you point and they put it on the plate for you. Bean man was stingy with his portion!!!! read more

Okay let's be honest here. Every meat they offer was dry as a bone. No smoke flavor at all, more like over flavor. And all you can eat is a little bit more like exercise going back and forth to the folks giving 2 ounces of meat to you. Wasn't worth getting my car dirty on the dirt drive in. STAY CLEAR OF THIS ONE. read more

I grew up right down the road and it is wonderful. The pork and baked beans are just amazing. The slaw is pretty darn good too. The dirt drive down is always so calming. The cloggers also do a superb job and the bands are always great! It's a country home kinda place and is definitely worth the drive. read more

After everything I've heard, I was very disappointed. Specialty is supposed to be the beans and the barbecue. We had six people nobody cared for the beans they were awful no flavor at all they weren't even hot. None of the food was hot, warm at best. Barbecue beef was awful it was so dry. You couldn't even eat it. The pork was okay the chicken was good the only other thing you got was coleslaw and bread. Everybody talks like 11.75 is a great deal but you have to pay extra for your drinks and if you want the banana pudding you have to pay for that. Will never go back. By the way there's no AC so you can't even enjoy the dinner because you're so hot and sweaty. As far as the music, that was great. But again it's so hot you really don't want to dance. I'm surprised about the food because when you serve food like that it has to be kept at a certain temp or you'll be getting people sick. read more

Amazing country BBQ. The people are nice and very welcoming.. the outside is really calm and relaxing. I was amazed that such a gem like this place existed.. As I drive down the dirt road to get there I wasn't sure and getting more and more unsure of this place, but the landscape, food, no alcohol environment was very warm and friendly.. definitely 5 stars for sure! read more

If you are looking for a wholesome, down home country family atmosphere Sims is the place! We loved it! The atmosphere is barnlike on a beautiful piece of farm land with a huge pond full of fish and cornfields. We walked in the front door and were greeted by the hostess. You pay in advance, all cash, all you can eat!! They have a buffet type line where you are served from a choice of sides and meats. First is coleslaw as good as my grandma makes, a big bowl of pickles, breads of all types, fried corn fritters, a huge vat of baked beans, half BBQ chickens, pulled pork, shredded beef. Drinks are at the next spot, you pay extra for these, iced tea, sodas, water, hot chocolate and then a side table of desserts for another $1.00. You find a place to sit among the huge wooden tables and chairs/benches. We chose to sit in the front near the stage. At 7:00pm the music starts, tonight it was a bluegrass band with decades of experience, they were wonderful. Out on the dance floor in front of the stage children of all ages are dancing to the music as well as teens, young couples and elders. What a wonderful site to see such joy in everyone's faces whether spectators or participants in dancing. They had an adult only square dance segment but mostly it was all ages out on the dance floor enjoying the music and clogging away. The food was very good, two types of sauce on the table to choose from. We all went back for seconds. A wonderful evening, We will definitely be back. They are only open Friday and Saturday nights at 5:00pm, music starts at 7:00pm. We will add Sims to our activities when we have out of town company to enjoy a real southern treasure ! read more

My husband and I both went to a birthday party last night there. We both agreed on a 3 rating based on food along. It was ok. The chicken was good but a lot of little bones in it. We definitely have ate better bq. The beans we both did not care for. Rolls not warm just basically opened a package and dump out. No potato salad. It was basic. 3 meats, chips, coleslaw, beans and breads. Most of the people that worked there including the band did not seem Happy either. read more

If you know GOOD BBQ, you will not like it here. All the meat was dry and without any hint of smoke. Buffet price is almost $11.00, plus drink and desert. The night we went, although I thought it was all you can (stand to) eat, they were limiting people to 1 trip through the line. They sure didn't mind taking my money while knowing they were running short on food. Because of the poor food quality, it didn't really affect me, but there were some there that looked like they came for the long haul. The house band is not bad, and my daughter likes to clog, so the entertainment value saves 1 star. If you want BBQ, even the frozen crap in the grocery store is better. read more

Someone told us about this out of the way BBQ place. We had trouble finding it with our GPS. After reading previous reviews we were prepared to pay cash. No credit cards accepted. It is a self- serve all you can eat BBQ with 3 different meats plus sides. I believe desserts are extra. The BBQ smelled wonderful though the taste fell short. The meat was dry. The chicken was the best choice. Everyone was friendly and wondered why we were leaving before the music started. It was hot. There are fans but no ac. We didn't want to stay late with a drive ahead of us. read more

One of the best BBQ places I've been to in my BBQ adventure. How can you beat all you can eat BBQ for $12?? The cornbread and other sides compliment the BBQ as well. Be sure to try as much as your stomach can handle. You won't be disappointed! read more

This place was great the bbq was decent, the atmosphere was excellent. We left before the blue grass music started because we were tired. They start music at 7:00. The staff was very cordial. I definitely return. My 16 yr old got full something that seems impossible at times. I would give them 5 stars if the pork was more flavorful. The beef was really good. I did not have the chicken but the kids liked it read more

We were visiting the area and my parents recommended this spot. All you can eat BBQ- 4 people for $47 - can't go wrong. Really interesting, great food friendly staff. The chicken is great. You really get a sense of the south. The band plays at 7. I look forward to another visit. read more

Sims Country BBQ, November 8, 2013 Where to start? Short Story; mediocre food at best and poor facilities It's a barn in the middle of nowhere, a grass field parking lot with poor lighting if you leave after dark you better have a flashlight. You pay $10.75 per person at the door to stand in a single buffet line. They might advertise all you can eat but you have to stand in line for 15min if you want to go back for seconds. There is a very limited menu with nothing for kids. Cole slaw was chopped cabbage and not much else. Corn fritters were bland and cold. Rolls were cold potato chips were ok. Pickles how do you ruin pickles but they did it. BBQ chicken was really baked chicken and it was dried out, BBQ pork was dry and had little flavor, both were barely warm. I didn't try the BBQ beef. The drink station is separate from the buffet line and costs extra $ .75 for tea. You have a choice of uncomfortable seating, folding metal chairs or a hard wood bench, at long wood table with no table clothes unless you bring your own. Choose your table wisely as there is very poor lighting in the barn. You seat yourself so you have to find a spot to set, better get there early or you might wind up standing up. Spider webs adorn the walls and ceilings so don't be surprised if one drops down to greet you. I found no redeeming qualities about this place and after leaving I stopped at Subway to get a sandwich. read more
