We are new to this area and we were unsure of local jewelry stores. I did a google search and found Slim & Shorty's Jewelry & Repair in Elgin. I went in yesterday and I have never been so thankful that I found them. It is a small locally owned store with the best customer service I have ever experienced. I immediately felt a peace. The owner was so caring and understanding (because I was so emotional). She was extremely patient and knowledgeable. She carefully went through each piece and explained what I had. She then explained what each one of them needed. I felt so comfortable trusting her with my mom's jewelry. I truly can not imagine doing business with another jeweler after going in Slim & Shorty's. I needed to get some last minute gifts for people at church and took a chance they'd have what I needed. I'm so glad I stopped! The selection was better than I expected. Since it was an outlet, the prices were higher than expected for what I needed, but I was grateful they had it, so I paid it. I saw a couple things that I recently bought at Walmart and the price was several dollars more at Burkes, so for an outlet, it's higher, but the quality of things is also good, so I'm happy.

We must have spent an hour or more looking at everything as there are three stories to explore! There are so many gorgeous pieces and I'd love to have almost everything in the store in my home, but we do not have the room. We finally found a piece that we were interested in, but there was no price on it. The staff was very helpful in looking it up to see if they could sell it, then clearing it of merchandise, and helping to load into the truck. It's a wonderful shelf and fit perfectly in our home. It was that last touch we needed to complete a hallway. We will definitely be back to scout for more treasures!
