We get some pots every year when coming to Sandbridge. They never disappoint! We typically do the crab pots. The flavor is always great. On Sunday we picked up 3 pots (~$500 order). I was holding my infant, and my mother was with me. As we were paying, this young man moved behind the counter as another woman was checking us out. He was standing right in front of our order so I assumed that he was going to help us carry the pots considering the circumstance. I was wrong. I don't expect special treatment because I am carrying a baby but I do expect people to be thoughtful and kind. We were the only people in the store and the order was fairly large. read more

Great hidden gem! Their food was so delicious! The crab cake sandwich was full of meat and seasoned so well, not fishy at all, and the salmon blt was great. When we arrived at the beach the afternoon of 07SEP2024, we wanted something to eat that was near us. The closest place we found was Simply Steamed. The service was fast to prepare our two orders of scallop tacos and she crab soup. We were expecting the scallops to be warm, but the chilled scallops with the sweet salsa were a good combination. I own a vacation home in Sandbridge and Simply Steamed is one of my go-to places for take out seafood. They offer a variety of seafood that is ready to serve and other steamed pot variety options that have seasonings and everything you need to cook at your beach house when you are ready. The steamed pots are great for large family gatherings. Ready to serve seafood entrees and appetizers are flavorful and cooked perfectly. You can use them as a meal or to round out your menu. In the shop, SS has great choices of wines to go with your dinner. The staff at Simply Steamed are friendly, helpful and give great guidance on selections and portions for your group. Desserts are available but they go quickly. If you are so inclined, SS offers a great selection of cigars to finish off the experience. I highly recommend Simply Steamed. This was a really easy review. Hands down the best take out I have had in years and a fantastic business beach food model. First, the business model is fantastic. You get to pick from a variety of steamer pots with different assortments of seafood. You simply add 8 ounces of fluid, poke four holes in the top, and then cook on the stovetop for about 35 minutes. The pots are disposable, but also substantial. You simply throw the pot away after throwing all the shells and scraps in. The second part of this review is the food. It was awesome!!! We did two pots (coastal and hard shell). Both had great assortments of food that cooked up tremendously. We had crab claws, legs, oysters, clams, mussels, crawfish, shrimp, potatoes, and corn on the cobb. Oh yeah, mu daughter had their She Crab Soup and it was unbelievable also. An afternoon at Sandbridge Beach in the late Fall was a perfect opportunity to try Simply Steamed. Located in the Sandbridge Shoppes, Steamed is best known for their steamed crab pots. They come in a variety of six pots. Choose from lobster, muscles, shrimp, crab, clams and even sausage. They feed 4 and it's literally a party in a can. The shop is tiny with two tables. It's primary business model is take out. There are a few table on their front deck. They have bottle and can beer in an upright cooler. The selection was better than average for a craft beer drinker, so yeah! My order. Crab Cake Sandwich / lettuce, tomato and house made sauce on top. HUGE & scrumptious! Paired w/ a Bells Oberon Pale Wheat Ale on their outdoor front deck. The owner Walt took good care of me and was fantastic! Simply Steamed is open with adjusted ours in off season. We got Simply Steamed for take out last week while vacationing in Sandbridge and I have to admit, the business model is absolutely genius. We got 3 steamer pots, 2 lbs of shrimp, and a quart of the crab soup. Just an FYI this place is extremely pricey - the above things were +$500, so expect to pay some money if you're feeding more than 4 people (we had 12). The steamer pots take longer than you'd expect to cook - ours took ~1 hour, but that may be because of the poor stove we had in our rental condo with too small of burners. Regardless, very cool concept and allows you to have the seafood boil experience without all the work leading up to it. Would recommend and we will definitely be repeat customers should we vacation in the area again. read more

Ok. I'm so sorry we didn't try this place earlier. We were at the beach with three other families. Placed three different pickup orders. And they were all amazing and ready within 30 min. On our group we got mini crab cakes, club sandwiches, hot dogs, salmon BLT, the regular BLT and the Lobster salad. Everyone was really impressed and enjoyed their food. This place is advertised as a restaurant, but it is more like a convenience store that happens to make very expensive, mediocre food in the back. Crab cake was mostly filler. We are vacationers from Pittsburgh and Charlotte, we heard about simply steamed and felt we had to try. We were not disappointed. The food was fresh and very very good. The only negative I have is this.. make sure you check that what they give you is what you ordered. They didn't give us our second lobster, when we called they said something about market price and blah blah blah.. which didn't seem right after we checked market price for lobster... we called back and explained their price breakdown to them and they told us to come back to get our second lobster? My friend and I came here on a rainy day because I wanted some steamed crabs. We wanted to venture out so I found this place and thought it would be good to try out. I knew going in that it was a small place: one table and the rest are outside on the balcony (two-seaters). My friend ordered the fish tacos. The sauce tasted like sweet and sauce which didn't go well. She said it also tasted like something you popped in a microwave from being frozen. I ordered the crawfish and king crab legs. The crawfish had the seasoning separate so it was word having it plain without dipping it into the seasoning. I think when you cook them with the seasoning, it tastes better including the juices. My crab legs were not what I expected. It was very rubbery in terms of shell. There was a lot of meat which was good. I don't know if I just came at the wrong time of year but I wouldn't necessarily make my way back here. The lady was very nice an accommodating. The food was just not up to par. read more

We stopped here for three reasons. We were in the neighborhood, great reviews and I had bookmarked it. Friends, I Simply don't get the hype. The restaurant is located on the upper floor of a small strip of shops. Inside there is only one table, a low round one. It is surrounded by beer and wine storage as well as two upright coolers. One has the cold beverages in it. All other seating is on the narrow deck. The tables are bar height and only two tops. We grabbed two bottles of beer and a menu and sat outside to ponder our selection. While sitting there we learned that this upper deck is also the smoking lounge for the hair salon next door. Two employees graced us with their odors. We decided on the fish taco and a fish sandwich. As we placed our order, inside, we learned our fish choice was mahi or salmon. We both opted for mahi. Hold on folks...we only have one serving of mahi left. So I got the mahi and he ordered an Italian sausage sandwich. The food was delivered to us on the smoking lounge in an appropriate amount of time. Both of our lunches were good. Just good. He had grilled peppers and onions which he enjoyed. Picked up a pot on the way out of town to steam at home. They didn't prepare everything as they normally would, so we still have to prep the corn, sausage, etc. They just threw it all in the pot unprepared with no directions but charged us the same price. We could have gone to the store and done that. Seems like they just wanted to be lazy and rip us off. In response to the shop: That gentleman is my husband and that is not true. Unfortunately I can't review this place based on food because we never even got to try it. This is purely on customer service and the gentleman we spoke with on the phone (I'm guessing the "grumpy owner" so many previous reviews referred to below) was incredibly rude and impatient. We placed a large order over the phone and he hung up on us several times before we could finish placing it. He said "I have other customers waiting I can't keep going all day with this" as we were placing our order. We also asked for the total of what we ordered so we could know before he rang it up and he said "give me your credit card number and then I'll tell you your total." Those were just some of the most shocking parts of the conversation but overall, he had an attitude the entire call and from the moment he even picked up the phone. Really very good lobster salad sandwich at a super-affordable price - $12.00. Comes with chips, as lobster salad should. It's a take out place with seating, but it's beach friendly and charming. There's some nice pottery and bric-à-brac for sale. I probably prefer a traditional lobster roll, but that wasn't what they were selling and this comes in a close second. LOTS of lobster salad. The bread was warm and, while not toasty, was yummy. The quality of the tomato in the sandwich was "Safeway" and not farmers market, but who needs a tomato in your lobster sandwich anyway? And there's wine and beer. The wine by the glass choices were limited to plastic cups of pre-packaged wine, but you know what? The Chardonnay was 100% potable. As the proprietress said, "middle of the road." There are other wines by the bottle but that wasn't what I needed, solo. ;) Nice outdoor seating upstairs on the walkway (if you're a group of 2 because there isn't room for larger tables) and the parking was easy. My husband and I popped in for a quick lunch after visiting Back Bay Refuge. We ordered mini crab cakes, flounder sandwich and lobster roll/sandwich. It's a small place with outside seating and one inside table. So a pickup and go kind of place which is fine. The crab cakes were great! Flavorful and my husband and I both enjoyed them. My husband said his fish sandwich was good and he liked it. My lobster sandwich was fine but didn't really taste like anything. Not bad, but no flavor. I couldn't eat the whole thing and handed to my husband who acknowledged the same. It didn't need salt, it literally didn't taste like anything. I would be surprised if this was imitation lobster meat as this place seems to serve fresh seafood. It didn't taste like lobster, it didn't taste like fish, it was super bland. We tried our first ever Steamer Pot last night (7/19) and while it started off promising, we were disappointed in the end. We ordered some of their She Crab Soup and a Crab Leg, Shrimp and sausage Steamer Pot. The soup was outstanding but as our steamer pot was finishing cooking, we realized they had not included the crab crackers/seafood shellers their brochure says they include with every order. This led to us spending about 10 minutes trying to open the crab unsuccessfully with a fork and knife before deciding to go buy some crackers on our own. By the time I returned nearly 30 minutes later with the tools needed to open the crab legs, our crab was cold and rubbery, so unfortunately I'm not able give much of a flavor review. I'd like to give them another try sometime based on how good the soup was but next time I will make sure they include the seafood shellers when I pick up the pot. Although it was seemingly a minor oversight, it was one that significantly impacted our enjoyment of a meal we spent more than $100 on. Edit: Walt, thank you for your quick response. Although honestly, if someone just told us when we picked the pot up last night that due to a supplier issue, you were temporarily out of crackers, we could have stopped on the way home, picked some up and had a much better dinner experience. I'd suggest making sure you share that with future customers as finding out that you all knowingly sent us home without a way to open the crab legs is more frustrating than someone just forgetting to include them. I had a little trouble poking holes in the top of the pot, but once I did that and after I poured the water in, it was set it and forget it. It took about 20 min for steam to start coming out of the holes, then another 20-25 min to cook. read more

Absolutely epic "Lobster Salad Sandwiches". Loaded with lump lobster meat, perfectly chilled, great ratio of mayo to lobster to celery on an amazing buttery french bread. As two New Yorkers used to "scam lobster rolls" often found in the wrong spots on eastern Long Island, we were elated that this lunch spot was this good. The interior is just a hole in the wall kitchen, but outside they have a shaded patio with views of the ocean and beach in distance. Worth visiting for a quick and tasty lunch. read more

This is a take out style spot with tables available outside on a small balcony that also leads to other businesses (a hair salon and gift shop). The day we stopped it was raining but the balcony was covered and dry. The menu is seafood focused and they do a small menu - steamed pots and sandwiches.
