I walked in and was amazed at the huge selection of loose tea available for purchase. White, black, green, caffeinated, unique flavors, you name it and there is something for you here! The owner was so kind as he explained to me a bit about what they carry and invited me to smell the wonderful aromas of the tea by opening the jars and discovering the scents. (This is very sanitary, as the jars are covered allowing you to smell without compromising/contaminating the product). In addition to an array of teas, there is also a merchandise and wide variety of spices. There is metered parking directly outside the storefront. Supporting local businesses brings me so much joy and I will be back.

I like to use the products for a period of time to be sure they perform as advertised. For years, I've purchased my spices at Japanese grocery stores, stores representing India Spice, Herbally Grounded and a few regular grocers. Many have disappointed, and none really surprised me, but I have found a few local niche stores I now frequent. However, I searched high and low for ground or dried seasonings that tasted most like fresh herbs, especially Thyme and Cloves, which had practically no stored flavor no matter where I bought it. I used mostly fresh Thyme purchased in a tiny plastic container in the small grocery market produce section, which was a seasinal item. I found fresh cloves nowhere. And I worried about heavy metals, pesticides and chemical preservatives in the regular containers. All I wanted was freshness and flavor, no additives, and something that would last on my shelf or in my fridge without poisons added. I COMMEND "PINCH SPICE MARKET" for providing me with undeniable aroma and flavor and freshness for both items, Thyme and Cloves. Your packaging was clean and thorough. The flavor was sharp and amazing. Del8very was quick. And although I wanted to douse my food with the Thyme, I had to refrain because just a little bit had an amazing flavor burst and was more than enough. The cloves, as well, were so fragrant and tasty added for my teas and baking, and I also enjoyed a few to just chew on throughout the day. NOW, my only drawback ... my low income budget is going to suffer greatly as I slowly replace every Spice I use with products from your company. I can no longer tolerate my cabinet full of store bought, poisoned, flavorless spices. I'll be working to save toward a few of your spices a couple times a year. I use so many different spices due to my enjoyment of international foods, that I'll probably die before replacing the magnitude of spices I have, but I going to try. Pinch has a website that you can order through, and if you're local to Louisville you can pick up your order at their facility. They don't have a store open to consumers. I wanted to make shaksuka for the first time but needed harissa and ras el hanout spice blends, which I couldn't find at Kroger. Pinch had these for $7 and $8 for 1/4 cup tins. And my order was ready for pick-up within 24 hours. Clear instructions were sent for this, and my husband was able to easily retrieve these for me. These spices are so fragrant, and I loved adding them to my dish. Now I'm looking for other dishes I can make with these. I can't wait until I need more spices, because I will definitely order from Pinch again.

I ended up buying a small bottle of peach balsamic vinegar based on the sample I tasted. I can't wait to try it on salads. The staff was helpful and told us they also ship. Highly successful businesses have outgrown the market and moved on to standalone businesses. And other shops have fizzled out. But I'm thrilled that Colonel De's has been a mainstay in this spot. Colonel De's is not a big chain, but they are a little one. The original is in Findlay Market in Cincinnati, and as of this writing there's also a satellite across the river in Newport. Colonel De's also does a mail order business, but that's it for offices. And the spices are great. They make a lot of their own blends and they have pretty much all the basics. They are not as cheap as some of the crap you can find at the grocery store, but they are definitely a notch better. And I'm pretty sure they look affordable when compared to some national chains. My favorite aspects, besides the convenience of coming here, include the fact that you can bring your own container, and the experience more generally that the people they've had working here have always been very helpful and approachable. Friendly place, great spices, super convenient, and you can grab an arepa or a bagel or a beer while you're running your errand. Skip the spice aisle at Kroger. Come here and get better stuff.

I literally almost devoured it in the car before I left for work during my lunch break. The pimento cheese is the absolute best pimento cheese I've ever had in all of Kentucky. Everything was so delicious and piping hot and the customer service was excellent. I recommend this place to everyone and anyone who comes to Lexington as it is a hidden gem that everyone should know about and support.
