Please submit terrible reviews to google, trust pilot, ripoff report, and of course, the Better Business Bureau. This company is a Scam! Horrible experience with Simply Lobsters, aka LiveCatch Seafood Warehouse. I ordered Lobster a week and half in advance of an important dinner party with out of town guests in out of the way Tahoe for Saturday delivery, for an understandable $15 upcharge. I had ordered from this company several times before. However, as I unfortunately discovered, the company had changed hands. I followed up with Steve five days before delivery. He had credit card issues, and I had to give him my info over the phone. He assured me the lobsters would arrive by Saturday late afternoon. I received a garbled voicemail on Friday. To review, If he was shipping overnight on Friday late afternoon, there would be no way to arrive on Saturday. The cutoff is 10 am the prior day. I called Saturday morning. I was told that the lobsters would be delivered to NEVADA Stateline UPS Store (I'm in California) on Saturday by 1:30 PM. It is a 2 HOUR DRIVE to the UPS store in Nevada on a summer Saturday in Lake Tahoe. The UPS Store info says they close at 3, however, they close at 2. Simply Lobsters NEVER called the UPS store to verify. I asked repeatedly for the tracking number. Crickets. I NOW had to LEAVE my house guests and drive TWO hours ONE WAY to pick up the lobsters. I couldn't verify they were there, because the email confirm, and the fact that Simply Lobsters did not answer, and the one time I spoke with them, they said they DID NOT have the TRACKING info. I finally arrived at the UPS store, the clerk, Casey (very nice), told me they were not there. What was the tracking info? Great Question. The lobsters were not there!!! Now, in addition to missing the day with my special houseguests, I now had to run to the ill equipped market to find something for our special dinner. All of my lobster themed hats, napkins, bibs etc were pointless. I called an emailed repeatedly. NO Response. On Monday, I finally got through.was given an incorrect tracking number on Monday. No one called me back Saturday. No one called Sunday. If I had the correct tracking info, I wouldn't have wasted 5 hours driving there, to the market to find something to serve my guest, and then back. No lobsters. The lobsters arrived on Monday to the UPS Store in Nevada. Dead and Pungent. The driver had to clean out his truck. Unacceptable. I was given the run around by Ken, at Simply Lobsters, saying it was UPS fault. I was finally told they No Longer had an account with FEDEX (!), so could NOT have delivered to my door on Saturday. (Their website says FedEX) I absolutely should have been informed when I spoke with Steve to verify the order that it could not be delivered to my door. I was told I would receive a 12% discount for stealing 5 hours of my day with my guests, the stress and hassle and gas money driving to pick up lobsters that were not there, and having a slap in the face of some lame discount for my troubles. Never spoke with the owner(s). Never received lobsters. Lost the entire day on a wild goose chase with a house full of guests. Inexcusable. Lobsters arrived at the UPS store on Monday. I ordered several lobster tails ahead of the Thanksgiving Holiday from these guys. I selected overnight delivery fully expecting to get them within the next 48 hours. As I sit here 14 days after my order I still have not received my lobsters. I have emailed the company twice with no response and to add to the mysterious nature of all of this is their web site is no longer working for me. This came totally unexpected. I used this place a few years back without a hitch. But when I dug around a bit on the net after I didn't get my order I began seeing stories like mine....especially in the past year or so. I'm just totally in the dark. I'd be glad to change this review if the company can shed some reasonable light on this for me. But it isn't looking good. Second time for a shipment of dead lobster. Then, you call, and the schmuck at Simply Lobster tells us they are fine to eat! REALLY! Read up on cooking/eating a dead lobster. Must be crazy! Then they asked to have the lobster shipped back. Even crazier. Next, they only offer a store credit rather than a refund. After a second time, we won't be doing business with these folks again. I'm so disappointed at the lack of compassion from owner Don. I lived in Scarborough Maine for 5yrs and when I moved to Texas, I knew I could get live lobsters. I am a REPEAT customer of Simply Lobster and have always been happy at their process in packaging and lobsters always showed up alive and in individual slats. I spent $667.53 for 30 live lobsters and when they finally showed up, HALF of the lobsters were dead, shells cracked, and foam box completely busted on inside of box. These lobsters were packaged in one big pile which was odd. I immediately called Simply Lobster and spoke with owner Don. He was stressed and seemed to be driving. When I asked him what I should do, He told me to cook the lifeless lobsters because everyone does it and it's fine. I told him I'm a CANCER PATIENT and I've never cooked or consumed a dead lobster. He began to grow more irritated through out conversation and asked if we were questioning him. I passed the phone to my husband because I began to cry as Doug seemed to lack any compassion. In the end, we did what we were instructed to do and cooked lobsters. As you see in pictures, the dead lobster meat was mush. I guess Simply Lobster is happy when all is good and customer receive live lobsters but when their crew that packs the lobsters has an off day and piles lobsters, it's the customers fault or fedex. In this case I feel the owner should have been a little more thoughtful in taking ownership of fault rather than getting irritated and completely blaming FedEx. I guess we now see their true colors :( In the end, we had 16 lobsters for supper. I didn't expect a refund, I just wanted Don/Simply Lobster to replace dead lobsters. I was never rude and I tried to tell Don that this was the first time this has ever happened and all Don wanted to do was be confrontational. I ordered 8 lobster tails. They came on time for Xmas party. One lobster tail had green slime all over it. I threw it out. Another tail was discolored and I did cook it. Bad choice, it was bad. I sent an email to the company asking what their refund policy is.... Ha! I would have to return the bad lobsters for a refund... What? That's a joke. They said that the green slime tail was fine and could have been rinsed off. Okay I'll give them that, I'm no expert. But the other tail was cooked and was bad. Yet another person who had a terrible experience. They called less than 24 hrs prior to the delivery date and claimed the hurricane was preventing shipment. The hurricane was two weeks ago and hundreds of miles south of either of us. When I called to find out what happened I got a rude guy in 'shipping' who said he would refund my money. No confirmation was received and despite numerous emails, phone calls etc. --absolutely NO RESPONSE. I giving this a 1 STAR --I would prefer giving it a MINUS 5 STARS! Delays happen, however no response is simply rude, dishonest and unacceptable --particularly when the credit card was processed! No shipping confirmation, I was a shirt three times my stuff was sent from my Christmas Eve dinner, and ended up with not only no lobsters but today I had to actually call because no one proactively called me to tell me that they lost my shipment. So for years we used this company as our provider for our traditional Christmas Eve dinner. The lobsters always came on time, fresh and well packed. Then last year they skimped on freezer bags and one lobster was dead. Well, these things happen. One lobster in 6 years was a pretty good track record. But then I tried to get in touch with them. Their email was full. They weren't answering phones. The only way I could get a time stamp of when I was notifying them (because yes there is a policy of notification within 2 hours of delivery) was to get a post on their Facebook page with the problem. I think it was ONLY because of that I was able to get some customer service at all. That was finally resolved, but not without a lot of headaches. I did mention to them the poor packing that resulted in the lobbie death. They only had 1 (1!!!!) freezer pack for 8 lobsters. I have been getting lobsters long enough to know this is a no no. So come along this year. I decide to give them the benefit of the doubt because one dead lobster among many is not going to completely color my business. Ordered 6 lobsters. 2 dead this year. Again....only 1 small freezer pack. Immediately, I realize I am going to have a headache like the previous year for reimbursement when I call, not only receive no answer but ends with "no one available to take your call right now. Goodbye" and a hang up. For crying out loud. Invest in an answering machine and freezer packs. So I emailed them within minutes of opening the pack and finding 2 dead lobbies. "Luckily", this year I get my email through and the box isn't filled. So instead of everyone getting a lobster, I cooked them and made a pasta dish, awaiting my call back for reimbursement. That doesn't come. That was on a Friday. I give them over the weekend and through Monday to call. Tuesday I call to talk to someone about the issue. I get "Oh they are still going through the emails. Give them a couple days. They will get back to you." Nothing Nothing. Nothing. I call back the next Friday. No answer again. I call this week. "We never received an email from you" I am guessing they deleted it? So until this company decides to reinvest in freezer packs, expect dead lobsters you won't get reimbursed for. Simplylobsters is a company that ships lobsters nationwide. When looking at other lobster shipping companies, it's hard to beat their price because they offer flat overnight shipping. The lobsters shipped on-time (to California) and were packed perfectly. I would definitely use them again! read more

I have now ordered from Simply Lobsters twice and am disappointed. I want to be clear that their lobsters are fresh and the chowders tasty. In both instances the orders arrived on time. My issue? They don't deliver the size lobster you order. The first time 9 of my 12 lobsters were underweight - I ordered the 1.35 pound size and only three were close to that weight. I called to express my concern and Anna in customer service handled it right - she gave me a free upgrade to the next size lobster on my next order. So, I placed my order for delivery on Christmas Eve (a family tradition). I reminded them that I was due a free upgrade due to the prior order being underweight, and they remembered and placed the order accordingly. I paid to upgrade the remaining 3 lobsters so they would all be 1.65 pounds. None came close! Two were 1.52 lbs, 4 were 1.45-1.48, 2 were 1.41-1.43 and 4 were 1.37-1.38. I called the next business day to report the problem and was immediately given to a manager since this was a repeat complaint. His response? Water weight loss ....seriously. He claims that the lobsters all weighed at or above 1.65 when packed and the difference was due to the lobsters losing water during shipment. I said I could see that this could account for a small amount of weight loss, but not the amount I had seen, especially the smallest lobsters. He was adamant and unapologetic - not the guy you want to have handling customer service. So, I told him I was dissatisfied and would shop from another lobster company going forward. STAY AWAY! Mind you I never got my lobsters, but they have the WORST customer service I've ever experienced. I purchased two lobsters and paid for overnight shipping. A week later, still no lobsters. I tried emailing to get a refund but their inbox is overflowing and can't accept any emails. I called and the man told me they tried to contact me when I put in my order to see if I wanted 1 or 2, and that's why the order never went through but he can ship it now. I said no I'd prefer a refund, and he said ok and hung up on me. I called back to try to get some sort of confirmation of the refund and he proceeded to yell at me that it would be in my paypal account. Very rude, but I did eventually get my refund. Instead of 6 lobster tails there were only 4 and the crab cakes were all stuck together on arrival. How embarrassing to send a birthday gift and to be told by the recipients that it was bad! We called Simply Lobsters to send lobster to our Aunt and Uncle for their 65th wedding anniversary. We paid extra for them to ship on a Saturday. Saturday came and went with no delivery. Simply Lobsters did call our Aunt and Uncle (who didn't know this was coming, as it was a surprise) and confused them horribly. Never was there a call to us - either that they couldn't make the Saturday date or that they had to reschedule. This 4 weeks ago. And, yep, our family NEVER got their lobster. Since then we have been emailing and calling to get our credit. Rude and non-responsive. This is a BIG NO for anyone who is looking for even minimal help and service. I ordered June 2 for next day 2lbs of lobster, next day delivery, the web site was easy and confirmation came thru, credit card charge cleared. It is now June 9 and have not received lobster. E-mailed over 6 times, to get tracking info, no response. Called twice a day for 5 days. It answers "Simply Lobster" then plays music, then recording comes on saying no one is available to assist, Goodbye" no message option, Even if I was to receive it today, my concern would be how long the "never frozen" would be. I have ordered from Cousins before and that worked fine, but thought I would try this one because of the "free next day delivery" The one that gave it 4 stars actually talked to someone on the phone, I do not know how she got lucky, But I would of not given it even 1 star....no customer service, Do not use this company. read more

It arrived on time but after two days the meat was already going bad (it was mushy, slimy, and smelly). 75% of the order had to be thrown in the trash. I posted our complaint on their facebook page but they took it right off. I put my phone number in so they could call me but even though they took the comment off their facebook page, they did not call. OK, I gave them a chance, now to Yelp. On Dec 16 we ordered live lobsters delivered for Xmas eve on their website, providing all the proper cards, addresses, etc. I started calling them last week to confirm that our order was coming, since I did not receive a confirmation email. They were not picking up their phone mostly, after being on hold 5 minutes it would hang up and say call back later. Twice he got a person, first time the person said they were too busy, call back in half an hour, second time he started to talk and the phone went dead. Finally I just called them 11 times in a row yesterday, finally getting a person. We had emailed but no response... he asked my confirmation number, can't look it up by the name. We didn't have a confirmation number because we didn't get the email. Finally he looked it up by the name, proving himself a liar right off the bat, and said they didn't have the order. I told him all we'd been doing to get through and confirm, he basically said there's no way he could/would do anything and told me to go away. Yes, they are busy. But, they are a business. If their systems malfunction they need to troubleshoot and make it right. If we have a family expecting stuffed lobster for Christmas Eve dinner, one thing we know is NEVER USE THIS COMPANY AGAIN, THEY ARE SCUMBAGS. Because if you take too much business, at least admit you made a mistake. If your ordering systems don't work, at least apologize. Luckily our local supermarket that has a live lobster tank is still there... we went over and price checked, and actually after all the shipping Simply Lobsters were charging us, the prices are equivalent. Worst customer service ever!!! wish I could remember the fellows name. Biggest JERK I have ever tried to have a discussion with in regards to their shipper not delivering the product that was paid for! First attempt was shipper damaged package... This was Christmas eve and my sisters anniversary, My gift to her and her husband. Second attempt and the shipper had mechanical issues, New years eve, both days I was left frantically looking for a means not to disappoint family and friends. I understand that incidents can and do happen, However I shouldn't have to be treated poorly by Simply lobsters staff member. I should have been offered a refunded. I was not, as a mater of fact this particular employee stated he would not reschedule or refund my shipment until they were reimbursed by shipper. So currently I am still out 537.96. Never even received a return call after this employee stated he needed to wait until the end of the month before they would have relief from the shipping company (UPS). DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY!! We ordered 4 lobsters to be delivered for a family dinner on Christmas Eve. The price, including shipping was approximately $150. Sounds like a lot, and it is, but not terrible for 1.65 lb hard shell lobsters. Bear in mind, however, that $50 was for shipping and intended to result in guaranteed, next day delivery of live lobsters - you can't eat them if they die. We planned to be home all day 12/24 to ensure we got them and brought them in timely. The delivery was to be at noon. At 3 pm, with no crustaceans in sight, my wife called UPS and was told the package had not been delivered by Simply Lobsters on time to ensure delivery on 12/24, and that we were looking at 12/26. That felt like a problem right off since it meant the lobsters had not seen ocean since 12/22 - they come packed in newspaper, not ocean water. So my wife called Simply Lobsters. They could not have been more brusque - I am sure they were having a busy day - but the rep did say he thought the lobsters would be fine and, if not, he would work with us to get replacements. We got no further instructions on 12/24 about what to do if the lobsters arrived dead other than to call back. The package finally came after noon on 12/26. Three were clearly dead inside the warm box that had sat in a UPS facility for at least 3 days. One was slightly moving, foaming at the "mouth" and smelled terrible after being in with its dead brethren for goodness knows how long. Needless to say, we tossed the whole, necrotic mess in the trash and called Simply Lobsters again. This was starting to feel like an awful lot of trouble and money for something that was supposed to be a treat. No one answered when we called, so we sent an email, to which no one responded. When my wife finally reached someone on 12/28, the Simply Lobsters rep said three things. First, that we had already called, left a message and had said the lobsters arrived in fine shape. False! They claimed to have a recording of the call. We told the rep we were very eager to hear it since we never made a call saying everything was fine. And really, why would we? We would have just happily eaten and moved on. Second, that the whole thing was somehow our fault and we should have saved the dead lobsters and box to send back. Third, that we should have eaten the one, half dead lobster even if not the others and that the company would not accommodate us in any way. No credit. No refund. No rain check. Nothing. We would have been happy with a credit and had even talked about using it towards a larger order with friends, so it isn't like we were planning to scorch the relationship. The implication we got, however, is that somehow we are out to cheat Simply Lobsters and probably ate the ones sent and want to scam them out of 4 more. Sorry, no reason to do that. We are trying still to get some redress. If we do, I will let you know and will update the review. If it stays as it is, I would caution anyone not to use this service at a time when shipping could be an issue - around holidays, winter, etc. read more

Worst place ever!! Made 3 orders to three different family members, only 1 out of the 3 were delivered. When I called they had all sorts of excuses from it being a busy time of year to UPS screwed up. I sent them an email with my receipts. I never heard a word. Called several more times and was told they were working on it. I sent another email with receipts and then called at which point they said I would have to go through the credit card company to get MY money back. I was shocked. Don't work with these guys. We have ordered from here for Christmas Eve delivery for the past several years with no problem. This year, the delivery did not come. I sent 3 emails and tried calling several times over the course of the past week and there was no response. Finally I got someone on the phone this morning and all I was told was that we've already been credited. Our experience was absolutely horrible. This was a gift from my parents, who also sent the same gift to several other people. Spent over $1,000 with these scam artists. They delayed the shipment to our home without calling us to let us know it wouldn't arrive on the scheduled day. We called to let them know we were away on vacation for a week. Package arrived anyway with cracked packaging and lobster smelled bad already. When I called they told me too bad, package had been delivered and "Good Luck disputing the charge since it takes 60 days". They were incredibly rude and unhelpful. The four hot dog rolls and measly amount of lobster meat was not worth the money. Go to the grocery store and save yourself aggravation and money. This is the worst company I have ever dealt with. I was nervous when I didn't get a tracking number but the lobster arrived at the perfect time on a holiday! For those thinking about ordering I would recommend doing so over the phone. Something has changed. I've ordered from simply lobsters in the past with no issues. This year was a disaster. I placed an order for my parents Christmas party. The lobsters never showed up which was a disaster, but what happened next was even worse. Obviously they charged my card immediately when the order was placed. I called them, emailed them no response. The following day I called, spoke with a representative who told me they "would look into it, AND I needed to call back in a half hour. REALLY!! Ok I call back, it was shipped he told me, but he couldn't provide a tracking number and it was an issue with UPS. Yeah right. He said he would refund my money. Days go by no credit to my card, call back again..they would refund my money, and nothing still. It's been three weeks now. No response to any of my emails. What a scam and a ruined Christmas party. Perhaps I should have realized cutting it close but when I spoke to customer service when placing the order they assured me would be no problem with overnight shipping would arrive on time. Well it did not, and following day being Christmas no delivery either. When I called to get a refund I was also told I need to send the lobster back. The problem being, which I explained to very rude customer service agent, was that I was at a rented cabin and by the time I left Thursday afternoon (which is now two days after it was supposed to arrive) it still was not there, so there was no way for me to send it back. Again told rudely nothing they could do only refund shipping. No apologies that it did not arrive when it should have, not even a token offer of credit or discount off future orders for the inconvenience. Completely did not care when I said how unhappy I was about how they handled or that I would never be using them again. Beware when you order, they simply don't care about customer service or making customer happy. read more
