He took into account that I enjoyed strong coffee and pulled a double shot without me asking for it. On top of that, as we were chatting about cold brews, he concocted what I consider a cold brew cocktail right in front of me! It never came across to me that coffee could be served that differently, and it was good. The experience gets better. The staffs were super friendly. I didn't feel like I was in the café at all. It felt more like a coffee club! All these happened in a coffee roastery. Because of that, the seats are limited. So be ready during peak hours. The coffee is freshly roasted with a large variety to choose from, including many blends and a number of organic options. My favourites are organic Mexican and organic Peru, both 250g for $9. I also like the espresso Creme blend which is very similar to Cibo coffee - 250g for $7.50. This is a large store that not only stocks coffee but also coffee machine and a wide variety of Italian gourmet products and cookbooks. You can purchase pastry shells, hard-to-find gourmet foods like rose water and gluten free items. There are also accessories for coffee addicts, gorgeous pastas, biscuits and other Italian goodies. There are always plenty of Italians here talking in the native language, a sign of a really great Italian providore. Rio is as good as it gets for coffee drinkers and lovers of the Italian way of life.

Maybe more salt and sugar was needed. But, that does not mean that it was not tasty! It was really lovely. The egg was poached well, crème fraîche was a great edition and lifted the dish. An added surprise was the sea greens. I really loved them. I think that not many people are used to them, but they are really tasty. The carrots were nice, but felt a little out of place. I think what the dish needed was a sauce. The crème fraîche was great, but something with a deeper flavour or seasoning. The rest of the menu looked great! I look forward to test more items. In fact, be sure to try out the coffee. I think we may have another great coffee destination in Adelaide. They offer a couple of filter options and cold drip. This place has a Melbourne-esq vibe to it. Essentially a mature hangout with cool Coffee vibes !! The pace here is very calm and I like that since so many coffee shops get a bit chaotic at times. They also do barista training and machine hire. I spoke to the owner Basil, and was interested to know the he has been roasting for over 20 years and was one of the first roasters in SA. Him and his staff know their coffee. They use Bonsoy and I've seen them use various cow's milk. I think they use Paul's now. Parking behind the building can be accessed from South Rd or the side street. I've even parked in the neighbouring businesses parking spots... I'm sure they don't really like people doing that though.. Overall, great ethical coffee & nice service.

Because I usually get it on the way to work, I want to be in-and-out as quickly as possible; which means most mornings I will not stop to purchase one because I fear it will take too long. Parking is also a tad tricky. Lastly, the minimum eftpos is $10 which mean I need to buy 2 coffees plus something small if I want to use my card. If I have no cash, it will prevent me from buying a coffee that morning. Overall though, this is a coffee place and they do damn good coffee!
