I have been to a few gyms now and again so I checked this one out to see if I would join. I went a…read morefew times and always found it to be nice and spacious, friendly gym with not too many gym maniacs about so you can go and work out without feeling too intimidated. There is a great pool with a steam room and a jaccuzzi to chill out in after a big work out which is an improvement on fitness first, but the same service is available at the leisure centre, which is a bit cheaper as well. Its £30 a month for off peak, which isn't great, especially if you work full time because you wouldn't be able to go much. Good gym overall, but a bit pricey.

There are so many gyms and fitness clubs in the Bangor area which makes it hard to choose the one…read morethat suites best. For me there is no choice ,DW sport comes up trumps. It has such a lot going for it. There is a great range of equipment which is always well maintained. I think the pool is an added bonus where one can go for a leisurely swim or have fun in one of the aquaroebics classes. A relaxing session in one of the two jacuzzis can be the climax of any workout. The staff are very friendly and always someone on hand for help or advise . There are well qualified trainers available for that one to one training. Booking can be done on line for specific classes such as yoga / palates. The changing rooms are spacious and well equipped with lockers and showers which are always clean and well maintained. There is a cafe which has a good range of food to suite all tastes. Members are entitled to a discount on any purchase from the sports store. All in all this gym has it all so no excuse not to give it a go! And by the way if u are an OAP there is a reduction in the monthly fee.

I have been looking a new gym lately. Tried a few out and think this is the winner! Cant believe…read moreits been around so long without me knowing about it! Only £20 a month, no contract. You can pay cash. Situated upstairs in the Frames complex on Little Donegal Street. (Their website has not been updated, look at their facebook) The staff are really friendly and there is more of a community feeling. The entrance has a reception with lots of protein snacks and powders and bars. You can buy them individually. Its defiantly an old school feel with lads chugging pre-workout before a session. Over two floors there is loads of equipment. Bottom having loads of free weights and 20kg bars. two power racks and a smith along with two heavy duty leg presses (one a hack) the space isnt massive but is is well laid out given its size. Other machines include lat pull down, diverging rows, chest press and shoulder press. Two boxing rings and around 10 hanging punch bags in another room. Lots of boxercise classes are run from here. The top floor is excellent!! Huge space with a crossfit rig, altro turf with a sled, truck tires for flipping and battle ropes. Two more power racks and a dead lifting platform. Hack squat frame and farmers walk equipment. Another room has cardio machines, treadmills, stepper, rowers etc. not many but then its more of a strength and conditioning outfit. Ladies changing rooms are basic with two showers and a toilet and hairdryer. Lockers throughout the gym on different floors. Parking outside and around the block on a ticket metre. Lots of PTs and a general good feel.

Awesome! Was here as part of pre season football training last night and was blown away by firstly…read morethe knowledge and guidance of Sam (the instructor), the facilities and equipment and how sore I was after only a 20 minute work out! Having never tried Crossfit before I was intrigued as to what it entailed, I had seen videos online and heard people talking about it's benefits but until I tried it I didn't want to cast judgement. As I am writing this I can still feel the burn in my shoulders - I think that speaks for itself. We were all beginners to Crossfit and Sam took us through it step by step - firstly the warm up, lunges and crab crawls - this got everyone laughing at each other's efforts and really broke the ice. Then we moved on to the main event. A circuit that started with a 200 meter run then on to burpees, then a wall walk, sit ups and finally (if you had enough energy) press ups. This circuit suited us all perfectly and was obviously tailored by Sam to meet our needs. The best aspect of this was that it was timed and this really helped to bring out the competitive edge in our group. Also over the coming weeks we will be doing the same circuit so there's a chance to see your progress as fitness improves. The facilities in the gym area are excellent, we were doing all body weight excersises but they had plenty of kettle bells, pull up bars, benches and a synthetic grassed area. I can not recommend trying this out enough - give it a go, if you like it you'll be hooked!
