Where do I begin? I was going to let our experience at Simplicity go and write it off as a learning experience but this story must be told. My girlfriend and I had to travel almost 2 hours to Bishop to do some shopping and I thought it would be nice to get us girls some pedicures. I had called a few days prior and asked for 2 pedicures that could be done at the same time, I was told this was not a problem so I booked the appointments (not only is it nice to get a pedi at the same time, we were also on a time constraint since I had to be at work later that afternoon). SPOILER ALERT: When we arrived I was told that there was only one manicurist and that our pedis could only be done one at a time....well some manicurist are pretty fast so I wasn't going to worry too much about possibly having to add more time to our already scheduled day......HA! that's when the shinanigans began.......SPOILER ALERT: Massage chairs don't work, this has happened in other salons but it still feels like that time when you were 5 and someone came up and popped your pretty pink balloon.....SPOILER ALERT: Did our manicurist even have a license? She was a really nice lady but I have no idea what she was even doing. We both had old gel on our toes and it seems like she used a nail file from the dollar store to try and take the old gel polish off, which A: takes a REALLY long time and B: it hurts. One advantage of using a small sharp nail file is she managed to also take the top layer of skin off my toe knuckles, that must have been an extra bonus because I have never had that done before. She also does not wear gloves, which I know where my feet have been but where have her hands been? After cutting our nails, which I think her clippers were from the dollar store as well, our nails were left uneven with sharp edges, her "cheese grater" was a cold flat piece of metal....?????.....after cleaning (poking) my toes with the pointy metal tool she shook the towel out that she had been using to dry my feel and it actually still had pieces of someone's haircut in it....AM I BEING PUNKED???? lol at this point almost 2 hours later my friend and I decided that we have had enough. We declined to get our toes painted and to just be on our way. SPOILER ALERT: We walked out after paying $40.00 each with uneven, long, sharp toe nails, rough heels and skin that was either filed off or "paper cut" by the nail file. Oh did I mention there was still gel polish left on our toes from our previous pedicure? Did she leave it thinking we'd miss it and want to leave us a reminder of something that once was? On the bright side, this has left us both with a great memory. But on a serious note.....my girlfriend suffers from breast cancer, I wanted to do something with her, her feet are swollen from the chemo, her daughter is graduating, I wanted her to relax, instead, her feet burn from the cuts when she takes a shower and her toes look worse than when we got there and THAT is what upsets me. We will not be back. read more
