A rarity for late-night drunk food spots, Gili-b's is actually some super legit Mexican food. I've come here for lunch dozens of times when the food and kitchen is fresh, the customers are sober, and the employees aren't stressed by a bunch of drunken jerks asking for ridiculous orders and demanding their food be ready with the speed of Taco Bell. Since I'm gluten free, the street tacos are my go-to. Nothing better than meat in corn tortillas, topped off with onions and cilantro. What else do you need? Alright, their salsas and sauces are also excellent. My favorites are the chorizo, carnitas, carne asada, chicharron and lengua (unfortunately they are sometimes sold out of this one). Plus a tamarind Jarritos. Our last meal before moving from Sioux Falls was here (sober and in the daytime), and anytime I'm back in town I'm heading here IMMEDIATELY.

Our orders are very rarely correct anymore. And if they are, they're disappointing. The steak is…read moreovercooked and chewy. The vegetable burrito contained lettuce, beans, spoonful of cheese, and pico de gallo. Not a single vegetable on it?! Ordered cheese enchiladas and got chicken. Do you not ask for pico de gallo, ranchero or enchilada sauce because all you'll get is their hot spicy salsa. My children do speak fluent Spanish so there should not be a language barrier. What once was the up-and-coming best takeout restaurant in Sioux Falls, which could be franchised, has turned into overpriced takeout. With competition being fierce amongst new authentic Mexican takeout, They need to both step up their game and get back to reasonable pricing.

I ordered a carnitas burrito which consisted of the meat, beans, rice and pico. The tortilla was grilled. My impression was that the meat is good quality and it was shredded so there was no grease dripping out from the burrito. The bad part was there was no flavor to the meat. The meat definitely needs more flavor or seasoning to it. I also tried one typical carne asada street taco. Again the meat looked good, but no flavor. I would give this place and average score of 3 stars. Now I know they just recently opened so maybe they are working on it. I will come back and try some other items and see if anything changes flavorwise. Otherwise, ya just gonna have to add some salsa to flavor it up. In my take out order, they included 2 really small plastic cups of salsa. One green, one red. The green had some spicyness to it but not bad at all. The red salsa was pretty spicy. So depending on your tolerance, now ya know. If the meat gets flavored /more seasoning I would give this place a 4 to possibly 4.5 stars.

I'm a bit partial to a few of my longtime favorites that were my Go-To. I gave this place a go and right off the bat I was impressed with the variety of meats to choose from. The best ones for me were the Asada and the Chorizo. Lots of flavor and good quality! Some places serve meat with loads of grizzle and fat, but this place has a good consistency in texture and leaness of the meat. My least favorite was the chicken, great flavor but it was a little dry. Still super solid Mexican food if your looking to take it to go. I should also note that this place is definately worth breaking your favorite routines for and giving it a chance on something new, I'll be back again for more!

I would get that again. The steak mexicana was okay. The ranchero sauce was very thin, not thick like i am used to having. The asada was juicy in the ranchero sauce but I would pass on this dish, unless you like the sauce watery. Today, second time, I went with chili verde. The chili verde was good and tasty and it tasted and looked like I expected it to be. Delicious plate. Order that again! The staff has been friendly both times. The restaurant is clean and nicely decorated. Both times I noticed when we ordered our food, it does take a noticeably long time to arrive. Not like an hour, but maybe 30 minutes. So u might end up chowing down lot of chips and salsa if you come hungry. The chips were served a little warm both times. The salsa has a good flavor to it. The salsa is kind of thin and not spicy, but i thought it was tasty. The menu is large with many choices. I look forward to coming back and trying some other items.
