A good paint job looks good aesthetically based on colors dictated by the owner and lasts a decent amount of time. In our case, we are happy with the painting of our 2-unit building in North Beach. Four colors were used on our wood-sided building, over 100 years old. While we cannot comment at this time on the duration of the painting quality over time, we had him use good quality paint (we specified the reputable paint brand). Simons Painting gave us a decently priced bid, which included a scope of work, priced by side of building, and an amount to be determined for any wood repairs to be discovered once the scaffolding was up. We got a separate bid for the scaffolding. The time frame turned out to be longer than expected due to unforeseen PGE work in front of the building, which prevented setting up the front scaffolding. We were concerned about hitting the rainy weather. Meanwhile, Jose, the owner of Simons Painting, had his crew start on the side and back first. Along the way we expanded his scope of work to include repairing and painting (in another color) the roof deck and adjoining stairs, replacement of a rotted back window, and other miscellaneous work. His additional prices seemed reasonable. All in all, we highly recommend Simons Painting.
