I recently had Jose and his crew help out with painting the exterior of my home, including the wooden stairs and deck in the back. They did a great job with power washing before painting which is an important part of the prep to make the paint job lasts longer. They were efficient (took about 1 week to finish the job; only came to work on the house weekdays 8-4:30ish) and addressed every concern we had with some wood rot that needed to be replaced. Jose was responsive and sent updates along the way. He showed up when he said he was going to and was able to get started on our home within about a week after coming by in person to give a price estimate. Looks like they might also do other contracting work or at least cabinets so I may reach out again for that. Otherwise, I would recommend him for painting. He is an honest guy with fair pricing and does a great job. read more

We truly appreciated the preparation and attention to detail in the excellent job on the exterior of our 120 year old Edwardian. It was completed on time using quality materials, and Jose and his team were always respectful and helpful throughout the process. We were able to check all the boxes when Jose sent me a quote. He used quality paints and understood our concerns regarding the importance of preparing the areas (washing, scraping, replacing damaged or loose and missing shingles, repairing wood rot, etc.). Also, Jose patiently waited until the roofers finished their work and repairs to begin his job. He added shingles at the base of several walls that the roofers requested be done before they complete their work. They cleaned the areas at the end of each day. We highly recommend calling Simon Painting Company to get a fair quote on your future interior or exterior paint job. read more

I recently had Simon Painting help with 2 decks and stairs that needed to be sanded and repainted. Jose and his team scheduled and came on time to start the project. He is very detailed oriented, reasonable priced and honest. The quality was outstanding and my decks and stair now look so new. I would highly recommend Simon Painting. In fact, I've already had 2 neighbors request his contact information. Jose is awesome! And a very nice person. M Leoncavallo. A happy customer! read more

Simon Painting did an amazing job on our 2 bed, 2 bath condo, including the kitchen. He gave us a reasonable, fair estimate from the start, and his 27 years of experience really came through -- he gave us great suggestions on colors and finishes that turned out perfectly. His team removed our popcorn ceilings and did excellent, professional work throughout. Simon communicated with us daily with updates, so we always knew exactly where things stood. His crew was hardworking, punctual, and clearly took pride in their work. read more

When it came time to paint my house I called Simon Painting without a second thought. They painted another family home (102 year old house) last year and did an excellent job. Jose came out and we discussed my concerns (blistered wood) and requests. As before he listened and gave his suggestions. The job was scheduled on my timeline and the team worked steadily. It is obvious that Jose has many years of experience and has his team prepared. He kept me informed of each days tasks as well as a couple of small repairs that needed to be done. They kept the workspace neat and safe at all times. Simon Painting would be the first I would call when I need help. I recommend them highly!! read more

I ultimately wasn't able to hire this company due to the estimate being above my budget. However, I really appreciate how communicative Jose was. He's reliable and was able to provide knowledgeable insight into a complex painting project. He's clearly very experienced and so I do recommend this company in that regard. read more

It was real pleasure to work with Jose and his team , they executed everything on highest possible level and time framing even my condo has pretty strict HOA regulations, I think pricing is fair and this company do that they say! Highly recommend Simon Paining! read more

Jose was super professional, easy to schedule with, and efficient. My bedroom went from boring white to a rich green and it looks amazing---and it only took a couple of hours! He was very careful to tape and cover my furniture, floors, and trim, and my room was spotless afterwards. We had discussed only doing one coat plus tinted primer but when that was finished we looked at it together and decided to add another coat which he included free of charge. The price was very reasonable and he even corrected me when I accidentally almost overpaid Will definitely be calling Jose again with more interior painting projects! read more

Jose has been my go-to person whenever I need a paint job. He is reliable, clear when communicating expectations and project updates, adaptable to changing needs, and detail-oriented with his work. He did the interior and exterior paint for my house and I even hired him to fix the work another contractor had done. I would highly recommend him. read more

Outstanding experience with Jose and his team. Came right away to look at the job, quoted a fair price, arrived on time and left on time each day, did a great job, and was flexible about changing the job when we needed to make a few adjustments. He also cleaned up well at the end and was respectful of our neighbors' space, even though we had to enter it he made sure to do it in a way that didn't inconvenience them too much. Would absolutely use his services again! read more

When I first contacted Simon Painting about painting the front of my house, Jose responded right away, and his painting crew started the job three days later. Jose checked in often and was always very responsive and accommodating. He kept me informed and sent photos as the job progressed. The crew showed up every morning at precisely 8:00 a.m. and worked hard until 4:30 p.m., cleaning up thoroughly each day before they left. They power-washed, scraped, spackled, repaired dry rot, and applied primer (with paint colors mixed in) before applying the final coat of paint. Because that work was done for such a reasonable price, I could afford to also have them clean and stain the back stairs leading to the yard, and they did that job equally thoroughly and efficiently. On top of all their hard work on the jobs, the painters spent extra time power-washing everything in the grungy area directly behind the house. Now even the garbage bins look as shiny and clean as the gleaming stairs! Before they performed their magic, the house and stairs were worn and overdue for maintenance. Now both are beautifully transformed and well-protected from the elements. Thank you so much for being so thoughtful and for doing such great work, Jose, Antonio and David! read more

No show at the appointments he set twice to establish a quote. unprofessional. No time to breastfeed contractors. And it looks like a pattern reading previous 1 star reviews. He didn't text to say he couldn't make either. Manners matter. read more

Excellent communicator, even better work on my deck. Job was finished on time and as promised, I would highly recommend!

I'm writing this as I sit and wait for their team to show over 25 mins after my appointment time, with no communication whatsoever. Simon Painting did a spectacular job on the exterior of our house. Our house required a lot of prep work, much more than most projects. That was a major concern of mine. Without proper prep, the paint will begin peeling off in no time. Well, these guys are masters at prepping and quickly alleviated all my concerns. They worked hard non-stop scraping, sanding, patching, and caulking. The finished product is beautiful, and I can be certain that the paint will last a long time because of all the time they took in prepping the house. I was so impressed with Jose. He took his time to explain the scope of the project to me, wasn't rushed, and enjoys talking to his clients. He has a great personality. You'll know what I mean when you meet him. As a matter of fact, his entire crew are all stars. Albert, Beto, Pedro (names listed alphabetically) worked so unbelievable hard and were very mindful of our property. They finished the project much sooner than I expected. That's a testament to the relentless work they put in. The finished product greatly exceeded my expectations. I would highly recommend Simon Painting for any project. In addition, they can install and fix anything in the house if you need additional work done. If you are concerned about prep work like I was, don't hesitate to give Jose a call. read more

A good paint job looks good aesthetically based on colors dictated by the owner and lasts a decent amount of time. In our case, we are happy with the painting of our 2-unit building in North Beach. Four colors were used on our wood-sided building, over 100 years old. While we cannot comment at this time on the duration of the painting quality over time, we had him use good quality paint (we specified the reputable paint brand). Simons Painting gave us a decently priced bid, which included a scope of work, priced by side of building, and an amount to be determined for any wood repairs to be discovered once the scaffolding was up. We got a separate bid for the scaffolding. The time frame turned out to be longer than expected due to unforeseen PGE work in front of the building, which prevented setting up the front scaffolding. We were concerned about hitting the rainy weather. Meanwhile, Jose, the owner of Simons Painting, had his crew start on the side and back first. Along the way we expanded his scope of work to include repairing and painting (in another color) the roof deck and adjoining stairs, replacement of a rotted back window, and other miscellaneous work. His additional prices seemed reasonable. All in all, we highly recommend Simons Painting. Jose is resourceful and his crew can do more than painting if it turns out you need more than just a simple paint job. read more

Stop! You found it: A San Francisco painter who lives in the city, very accessible to give you a very REASONABLE bid, has an EXPERT crew, and will complete the job on time! Could not ask for anything better. We were walking along Pine Street last month and noticed a painting crew operating on scaffolds at a large apartment house across the street form the Ritz Carlton Hotel on Stockton. The crew was doing an excellent job and looked very expert at what they were doing. The number for Simon's Paintings was on a sign on the building. We called the owner, Jose Simon, who lived down the street (!), and he arrived at our condo to give us a bid to re-paint the interior. Great price, well under another prominent painting company. Jose Simon and his experts showed up always on time, were neat and tidy, and we never had a complaint! Stop looking and call him now! read more

What can I say about Jose? He's a guy that got me to write a review on Yelp after ~TEN years of not writing any! That's how good he and his crew are :) From the moment that I called to get a quote (kitchen cabinet refinish and paint, 1bd/ba paint), Jose has been friendly, diligent, meticulous and so easy to work with. He was very transparent on timeline expectations, was always easy to get in touch, and negotiated prices reasonably. I even texted him questions I had after the job was done (I needed advice on how to touch-up paint since countertop people messed up the new paint) and he remained as friendly and helpful as ever. He and his crew did an amazing job. Moving/kitchen renovating are pretty stressful events and something about Jose made me feel at ease from the moment I met him for the estimate, and I never doubted that I could trust him to do a good job. He certainly proved me right! I highly recommend his services. read more

We hired Jose and his team to repaint our one bedroom apartment and they did a phenomenal job. They worked very efficiently and painted the entire apartment in one day, with multiple coats of paint on both the walls and ceilings. They also did a very nice job taping and making sure no paint was spilled on floors or the trim. We could not be any happier with the job. I would highly recommend Simon's Painting to anyone looking for a high quality painting professional in the San Francisco Bay Area. A++, would 100% hire again. read more

When I realized it was time to paint my house I called the painters who did the job the last time. Unfortunately he retired. He recommended Simons Painting so I called them. Jose called back immediately and came out to give a bid that was a thousand dollars less then the other bids I got. Jose worked on my schedule and always showed up on time. He got the paint, prepped the house, got a person to fix my deck, and proceeded to do an exceptional job painting my house. I would use him again in an instant! I have given his name to several neighbors who will also be using his talents. Jose will work with you and if he has a question he will ask instead of assuming what you want. He is fair in his price. Although I am sad Seamus Lundy retired, his recommendation of Simons Painting was solid and much appreciated. read more

Jose Simon (owner) and members of his crew (Beto and Diego) repainted the wood trim on the exterior of my house. They did an AMAZING job!! The original builder's paint job was poor (peeling after only 2 years), and now my house looks like new thanks to Simon's Painting. Jose and his crew were very professional in all respects. Jose was easy to reach by phone, and his crew was attentive to detail (caulking, sanding, or spot priming where needed) and even recommended improvements I had not considered. Jose and his crew always showed up on time and completed the job ahead of schedule. I will surely hire Simon's Painting for my home's interior too! read more

I have owned property and dealt with contractors in SF for 42 years. It was a pleasure to work with Jose and his crew. His estimates are fair, he shows up on time and work is completed on time. We started with a painting job which he did great. Even the tenants were pleased. He then pulled up 30 year old carpet and professionally installed laminate flooring in two units. Painted and repaired outside stairwell. Now we are starting a tile repair. He has the ability to keep in control as the projects change and grow. He also has a real business with license and bonds. I hope to continue working with Jose and his company, Simon's Painting Company INC.. this is the only 5 star rating I have ever given a contractor in those 42 years. read more

Just had my house in the Richmond District painted by Simon's Painting, and it all turned out very well. Jose's guys did a thorough job, starting with power washing the entire house on the first day, another day of scraping and sanding, and then a coat of tinted primer, followed by the final coat of paint. Their attention to the house details was good and they put in full days of work. Sometimes the crew was 3 guys and on other days it was 2 guys. They arrived each morning before 9am and always put in a full day, for the entire 2 week job. Good result and a fair price for the work. I would definitely recommend Jose to anyone. read more
