The playgrounds are great and seemed pretty inclusive of most age ranges. There's a lot of climbing areas, some more like steps and some ropes and ladders, so they vary the challenge level. This was great for the littles I was with (4-5 yo) and still interesting for older kids I saw playing. Toddlers have their own little playground off to the side. They do have a glider for wheelchair users, but I don't think the rest of the main equipment would be accessible. Maybe the swings for some. There are a lot of mature trees off to one side and at least one picnic table over there. When the trees bloom for the year, it's going to be beautiful! They have a sand volleyball court, paved walking path, and I spotted a few more sports areas--basketball, soccer. There's potentially a lot to do here! Bathrooms were close to the playground and clean. It's close enough to go grab coffee or ice cream after as well, which in my opinion, makes it great for a day of fun. I'll look forward to seeing the park again later this spring/summer!

The park was beautifully decorated! They have a lot of peonies planted around the park as well as other flowers. The alliums were beautiful too! You can tell how hard they work on this park. There is a gazebo where they held some classes and then the arear was filled with tents and activities as well as food trucks. I would have to check it out when a festival isn't happening to see how the park is, but there were some benches and water fountains and I think it is a beautiful spot to relax or have a picnic. If you get a chance the Peony festival was fantastic. It had some really great photos ops and lots of food trucks and locally made items as well as flowers and plants for sell!

Hohlt Park is sort of the unofficial park of the Rocky Ripple area of Indianapolis. Sadly, I'll admit I didn't even really know about it until friends played a concert here. With space donated by the Hohlt Family, this is a pretty simple neighborhood park with playground equipment, a dome climber, a merry-go-round, and a field that often plays host to small concerts/musical events. Additionally, of course, Hohlt Park hosts the Rocky Ripple Festival. Additional facilities include sports fields, a shelter with picnic tables, and lots of greenery. This is by no means a high-end park and it's certainly not one I'd go out of the way to experience, however, if you're in the area it's a great place to stop, rest, play, or enjoy a picnic. Overall, I'd probably lean more toward a 3.5 here, however, I do think this park serves the Rocky Ripple area well and it's reasonably well maintained - so, I'm going with the 4-star. As a matter of note, this park does not fall under Indy Parks. When I was here, I encountered a handful of people who were friendly and the park was clean and felt safe to me.

The park has been known to hold community special events such as the Rocky Ripple Festival. The park has a nice pavilion with picnic tables under it and there is also a decent sand volleyball court with bleachers next to it. You will find a lot of green space here that is suitable for field sports such as football and soccer, or having a picnic, playing catch, or flying a kite. The park's playground is on a bed of wood chips and has your traditional equipment such as a merry go round, toddler and traditional swings, a 4-way see-saw, and a medium sized jungle gym with slides (straight and spiral), climbing nets and monkey bars. The park just recently replace it old dome climber with a new crab trap play structure. It is very nice. I found the park's picnic tables very neat. It looks like the legs were made from small tree trucks. They are pretty cool if you ask me. The park seemed pretty well maintained, especially considering there was not a trash can to be found and the amount of grass that has to be maintained. This is a nice park, but I will be the first to admit that is not a destination park and finds most of its usage from people from the adjacent neighborhood that live within walking or biking distance. It is a very nice park if you live in the area or just visiting the area and looking for a playground or place to hang out.

The park was opened in 1928 and originally known as 61st and Broadway Park (after the streets it's located off of). It was renamed to Dan Wakefield Park in 2016, after a long time local resident and author/journalist, in part due to a campaign proposing the change was started. The park has a lot of green space. It would be good for activities such as picnic'ing, playing catch, flying a kite, or even a small football or soccer game. There are a few picnic tables placed on the green space to sit and/or eat. There is also a half decent tennis court and remnants of a volleyball court. The net is missing and the sand court is in very bad shape. You will find a relatively small picnic shelter at this park with picnic tables and a modest playground area. The playground area is lined with wood chips and has some older equipment which includes a jungle gym with slides, a bank of toddler swings and a bank of traditional swings. There are also a couple of sit and spins. The equipment could really use an upgrade. There is a lot of trees that provide decent shade at this park, which would be nice on a hot sunny day. There is a restroom facility at the park as well, but it was temporarily enclosed within a fenced area that they are doing some heavy construction on. I think it is where the splash pad is located. This is a good neighborhood park and has lots of potential, but time has seemed to catch up with it. The main draw for this place would probably be its splash pad. I hope it is back operational before the hot weather is here. Well, outside of the splash pad, it does not look like the city has invested much into the park in a while. This is not a park that you would travel to per se. But it may be worth while if you were in the area or lived in the surrounding neighborhood.

This park has a prairie setting and features an amazing trail, some vast green space and a skate…read morepark. It is 38 acres and used to be a farmstead before being purchased by the city in 2003. The original farmstead is still being used for educational programs and is managed by Maplelawn Farmstead, Inc. There is tons of parking here spread across three sections. One near the front and skate park. The other, in the center, near the prairie, and the other near the back pavilions, playground and splash pad. This park has about 3 picnic shelters with picnic tables under it and grills right outside of it. There is a decent full court basketball court there. It is in pretty good shape. The park also features a pretty nice splash pad, however, it was closed for the season during my visit. It has a bunch of colorful spray structures and benches along the fence that parents can sit on and watch their kids splash around. The playground is lined with wood chips and has more of your traditional equipment. The equipment is in excellent shape and includes a small jungle gym, rock climbing walls, monkey bars, a bank of swings with a couple of traditional swings, toddler swings and ADA swings, a small jungle gym with slides, and a set of pebble path pods. The play ground is fenced in to keep the little ones from running off and has benches along the inside perimeter of the fence to sit. The bathroom facility is right between the splash pad and playground area. It is nice as far as bathrooms goes and is connected to a picnic shelter on the side and has an uncovered patio area with picnic tables in front of it. Your will see green space for days here. A large portion of which is lighted. It is well maintained and is multi-purpose. It can be used for most any outdoor activity including a picnic, football, soccer, playing catch, field hockey, or flying a kite. Right behind the green space is a monster hill. I saw people using it to work out while I was there, more power to them. It would make for some awesome sledding after a snow. Near the front of the park is a skate park. It is small but nice. No bike allowed, only boards. They have a small maze like fence that is made to try to prevent people from bringing bike in. Some of the stuff in the park includes a pool, stairs, rails, ramps, and other stuff that I have no idea what they are. The walking trail here is a 1 mile loop and is one of the better trails that I have been on. It is well maintained and can be used for running, jogging or walking the dog. It goes around the park's green space and hill. This is a very nice Zionsville Park. It checks all the boxes of what you would want in a park. I like this park a lot. It is well maintained and has top notch amenities. You could easily spend a day to a half of a day here.
