Oil leaking and check out what silicone is left.
    Shauna B.

I've been meaning to write this review for some time but felt I needed to really assess the damage and full extent of it all. I took my 75' CB400four here last spring because they were recommended by a machine shop up the street that did great work, however these guys fucked up some stuff on my bike. I took it to this shop because I need to have my pistons honed out, new gaskets installed and the top end put back on. So here is what went wrong. Like let's try SILICONE for example. Wtf?! It was all over my rocker box and on the cases. When I inquired Max said talk to Mike and Mike played dumb like he didn't know what I was talking about. Well, obviously at this point I had to take my bike to another shop for further work because something seemed off with the compression, which it was, and I had a massive amount of oil leaking from my rocker box. Come to find out that they did a horrible job of what I paid them to do. So here I am out of $510 for work that isn't even worth a shit, silicone all over the place and I have to pay another shop to fix the massive leak coming from my rocker box. Still to this day I am dealing with problems caused by this shop and these guys that do not know what they are doing. I even provided them with a shop manual, gaskets, etc. Just don't even go here. These dudes suck. Don't trust them. They clearly don't care for your business or life. And the other guy who said they lied about time is spot on in his review. Same thing for me. Took twice as long. Karma guys... It's coming for you one day.

He almost got me killed by the crap he did. He said he knew it all. He over charged!!! Way over charged. I will never even think about going back to get screwed again. I called two dealers and a major bike parts house all said he did wrong. He laughed and said they didn't know what they were talking about. He even threatened me. He was to have worked on the front & rear brakes. He did not touch them. I was riding home and hit the rear brske. Oh oh no brake the pedal had no pressure. Went down to the foot plate. He put the wrong tire on the front and it caused the front end to shake violently. There's more!

I have been taking my bikes to Marcelo long since he moved from Burbank - for years…read more I own four bikes, (BMW R1150GSA, Honda XR650R, Honda CB1100F, Honda CB400F) and as you can see everything from dirt bikes, to the BMW GS to the older Honda stuff and I primarily go to Marcelo. He is the ONLY guy in LA that knows how to tune the tricky and one-year make, Honda CB1100F. Furthermore, he is the ONLY guy I will let touch my CB1100F or my CB400F. I also will not hesitate to bring in my BMW for anything. He is honest, hard working and does not beat around the bush. His shop isnt flashy, with couches and waiting rooms and the like. He just knows how to fix bikes and he does it for a better price than any I have found and best of all he is honest. If you dont need work done, he will tell you. I was out in the valley one time, I realized I was really low on oil so I swung into his shop and topped me off and refused to take money.... he's just a good guy. I hate to hear anyone say bad things about Marcelo, he is a good guy and he runs a good shop.

Similar to some of these reviews Matt was great at first but but then became horrible. I gave him…read moremy bike to fix on 2/9/24, paid up front and it's been over a year now. He's given excuse after excuse (some were true) and won't respond to texts and calls and claimed the bike was ready for pick up in September but I could never get a hold of him to schedule a pick up. I now have taken legal action to get my bike back. Can't warn you enough, stay away from this mechanic.

This is a sad review to write but for the safety of anyone considering working with Matt I need to…read moreshare. Matt literally sabotaged the work on my bike and you should not trust him with yours. Matt had done great work on my bike for years until this last repair that I brought in to him fall 2023. I needed a rebuild on the motor for my 1975 R90 BMW bike. He sent me updates on the repairs but then when it came time to pick up the bike He kept finding excuses why he was unavailable. This went on for 5 months, he would not give me a time where he would be at the shop. Eventually I drove out (it's 90 minutes from my house and I have to book a car) and when I get to the shop I see an eviction notice on the locked door. He had stopped responding to my texts and calls weeks before this. I also see a YELP review online from the last month of someone having the same issues. I go to the police to see what my options are and they say I have to send a demand letter to Matt and work through insurance which I do. He finally responds to that and leaves the bike in the lot. I Pick it up, he says it needs an oil change in 250 miles of riding after the rebuild and we part ways. Unfortunately it goes down hill from here even further. I should have taken it directly to another mechanic to check but foolishly trusted his work. Once I hit the 250 mile mark I take it to get the oil changed and they find a mess. He used oil that according to the mechanic looked like it was over 5k miles in use, dark and filled with crap. Also was should have been new spark plugs were both way past life and fouled with oil. On top of this the valves were also ticking. He had to put in used oil after the rebuild and burnt plugs, that would not happen over 250 miles of riding on a brand new rebuild. Whatever hard times be it an accident or whatever it was that Matt went through, it is no excuse for the sabotage of my bike, it was deliberate and malicious. I lost 9 months of being able to ride my bike and the cost of the rebuild as he effectively has damaged the seals and gaskets with the dirty oil. I went to Matt for over a decade, never again.
