Long Island City, Sunnyside

I came to these folks because they are nearby and I needed several things fixed- I wanted my gold…read moreplated chain fixed as a link broke, a watch battery replaced, and most importantly a pet pendant containing a beloved dog's ashes resized (the chain part). Everything came back perfect. All adjustments were done to specification, and they were smart enough to adjust the length of my bracelet from both sides instead of just from one like I had asked, which keeps the pendant more centered. I also noticed my gold plated chain came back even more shiny and gold so I don't know if it was re-plated or just polished and cleaned but I love it. Great job! And I believe I spent only about a $100 for all three things which was extremely worth it. Turnaround was about a week and they had a good process to set up the pickup to ensure no one can just take your jewelry.

I had a bracelet repaired by QJR in May 2026. When I received it back, the clasp had been installed…read morebackwards, making it unwearable. I contacted customer service and spent a significant amount of time going back and forth with them through their chat. The problem is that their chat is extremely slow, with 30+ minutes sometimes passing between responses. I was able to communicate with them, but only by sitting around waiting for each response, making it a very frustrating and impractical way to resolve an issue. They agreed to fix the bracelet but would only cover $100 of return-shipping insurance, despite the bracelet being worth significantly more and having sentimental value. They refused to cover the additional insurance I had originally paid for. I ultimately suggested receiving store credit for the insurance cost, which they agreed to, but the issue still went unresolved. Months later, the bracelet is still unwearable. I recently reached out again and, once again, have received no response through the chat. Mistakes happen, but the company policy to not match insurance value and the lack of functional customer service have been disappointing & gave more frustration than it's worth. I gave 2 stars because I did have two other previous items that were completed without issue. You just have to hope nothing goes wrong.

Came here yesterday to get the latch on my silver chain fixed. I've had to get this same thing…read morerepaired two other times at two different jewelry shops, and both of those places charged me money and made me wait at least 3-4 days to get the chain back. Not Kathe's Jewelry. I walk in there, expecting to just drop the chain off and pay some money for the repair job, but the guy working behind the counter (who I think also co-owns the place???) took my chain to the back for literally 30 seconds and then came back with it good as new and told me it was free of charge. He even gave me an old-fashioned handshake at the end like we were longtime friends. Made me feel like a special man walking out of that place. At any rate, if you live in the East Village or anywhere near it, don't go to any other store for your jewelry repair. The guys that own and operate Kathe's are so friendly and down-to-earth, and it looked to me like they were selling some nice pieces, too. 10/10.

I'm disappointed with the store's handling of turning my ruby into a pendant…read more I expected to approve the price before work began. I distinctly remember being told it would be around $200-$250 and that I would receive a call to confirm. That never happened. Instead, I later received a voicemail saying the pendant was ready for pickup. When I requested an itemized breakdown of the gold and labor, the store did not provide one. The 1.3-gram weight they shared includes the ruby, so I still don't know the actual gold weight or how the $250 charge is divided between materials and labor. The pendant looks beautiful in the photo but I should have had the opportunity to review the price, ask questions, negotiate, or decline the work before it was completed. I'm also concerned about the store's 60-day pickup policy, given that it was closed for two weeks in September. This isn't just about the money. It's about transparency, communication, trust, and making an informed decision before committing to a purchase.

If you have a priceless family heirloom or a piece of fine jewelry that requires absolute perfection, J Patch Designs by Karen is the only place in New York City you should trust. I brought in my late father's century-old, solid gold Masonic ring to be resized up to fit my finger. Because the ring features an incredibly delicate, heat-sensitive vintage black onyx stone, a standard jeweler's torch could have easily cracked it. Cliff looked over the piece and immediately guaranteed he would execute a specialized, high-tech precision laser weld. Not only did he resize the thick band flawlessly with an invisible seam, but he also performed an absolutely razor-sharp, custom one-line laser engraving inside the shank to commemorate my own Master Mason milestone (MM 5-2-81). The mirror-polish finish he delivered brought the historic gold back to its full, brilliant glory without losing any of its vintage character. To top off an already perfect experience, the customer service was warm, honest, and completely professional. Cliff even walked me through the care process and provided a complimentary bottle of liquid jewelry cleaner. As a high-volume content creator reviewer with over 16 + million views , I inspect businesses with a very strict eye--and J Patch Designs easily earns the highest recommendation possible. Thank you, Cliff and Karen, for treating my family's history with such immense respect! You made my day!!! Once again thank you!! I normally don't give 5 Stars.

I decided to utilize a watch repair service close by called Bella Jewelry and met with someone who introduced himself as Gabriel the owner. He advised that he could do the job and watch would be ready the following week. He never called on the agreed date of completion and when I did he advised that the watch wasn't ready. 1 week turned into 3 and the excuses/lies became more elaborate. I kept on calling. He finally told me that the watch was ready. When I got there the watch was damaged. The dial was broken and there were scratches that was never there before. He insisted on payment and refused to give me the watch. He also advised that he couldn't polish the watch because the rhodium he would need to use cost $10,000! Gabriel is extremely dishonest and rude and racist. He had polished someone else's watch for free while I waited. I'm black. The other patron was white! Doesn't seem to see very well either due to aging. He also refused to give me a receipt and tried to charge me more than the originally agreed upon price. Brought my watch to another jeweler who confirmed what I already knew. He damaged my watch and lied to me about the work he had done. Gabriel also made it clear that he had sued Yelp for publishing bad reviews...and won! I don't know if there's any truth to his statement but my main reason for using Yelp is because you cannot pay to alter honest reviews. At least...so I thought. An honest review is just that...and should never be altered or interfered with to please someone else. Nobody's experience is the same. I wouldn't advise anyone to waste their time or money on this business. It's truly not worth the aggravation. It's sad that someone that age could be so deceitful, dishonest and downright nasty. I've alerted everyone I know personally and professionally about this man and his business. Now it's time to alert the rest of the world.
