I wanted to update my review after some time and experiences. While I really appreciated Simky's work in the beginning and found her talented and detail-oriented, I eventually made the decision to stop coming here. As the sole worker most of the time, it became difficult to get in touch or book appointments consistently- especially emergent appointments. I also noticed that the shaping of my brows started to shift over time, and unfortunately, they weren't growing into the style I originally loved. It felt like the consistency just wasn't there, and the shape I had about 11 months ago was no longer being maintained. It's clear that Simky is doing her best managing everything, but I think the experience could really benefit from additional trained staff to help provide a more reliable and consistent service when she's unavailable. For now, I've found another place that's been working better for me, but I truly wish her continued success and would give this place 2-3 stars. read more

Consistency with good service is always my thing. No complaints. Been going for close to three plus years now. I don't have to go in and micromanage how my brows need to be shaped. I go, I sit, tell them (most times Simky) I want an arch and that's it. Sit back and get threaded. The technique is not pain free or the most comfortable but it's not the most painful either. So I recently came in on Saturday to get my eyebrows threaded based off of a recommendation from my coworker. I'd called a few days ahead and was told that she is there by 10. So I came in right at 10 and she was not there. Which really isn't a big deal. I didn't have anything pressing to do. I was told that she says 10 but that Simky doesn't really come in until about 11. I was then asked to put my name on the list and that I could wait for her. I did not know that I had the option to wait inside, so I waited outside in my car. I'd thought that since I'd put my name on the list that I'd get a call, once she came in as this was my first time and I didn't know what she looked like. Time went by and it is now 11:30 and I am seeing more people go in. So I decided to go in and see if she'd arrived. Lo and behold, one was getting out of the chair and was being seated. So naturally I am thinking to myself what was the point of putting my name on the list? Initially I was going to bring it to her attention but decided against it and just waited my turn. I am big on communication and customer service. While my eyebrows do look great, the honor system of acknowledging the sign in sheet kind of bothers me. As an owner, I would first check-in with who was there first and if I wasn't there, that's one thing. But to ignore the sheet all together, idk how I feel about that. Horrible experience at this place!!! I told the woman who waxed me not to put it on a specific part of my face because I break out. She was so busy chatting with her friend that she put the wax directly on the spot I told her not to. I told her my face breaks out and she told me "no it does not". A woman I just met knows more about my face then I do? I left this shop bleeding with wax still on my face. (Even though she told me I was done). I recently came here because I was in need of a mani pedi. However, I am not from the Hallendale area so I used Groupon to find this salon. I paid a lower price on Groupon than the actual salon for a regular mani pedi which is great especially to try for the first time. At the actual salon, it costs $33 for a regular mani pedi. I'm rating it 3 stars because the staff member that painted my nails was really nice and helped me pick a color for the upcoming occasion I had. She was great. However, I guess the nail polish itself was not great at all. I got my nails done on Saturday and by that same day in the afternoon they began to crack. I'm assuming the nail polish might be too old. Even though I paid a lower price I'm still a little upset that the nail polish is cracking and does not look good. At this salon, they seem to specialize on brow threading. When I first moved to South Florida I was leery about finding someone who would do a good job with threading my eyebrows. I'm very particular about my eyebrows but who isn't? I spent about a month in Hallandale Beach while I searched for a more permanent residence. During that time I came across Simky's Brow Bar. Reluctant, I decided to give it a try and plus my eyebrows were beginning to form a unibrow. XD There are two threading stations towards the front of the store. The back area houses a nail salon. I sat in the chair and she was very friendly and welcoming. I explained to her exactly what I wanted. (She was the older of the two ladies). I like my brows to remain thick and consistent with the shape. My brows have a natural arch and I can't tell you how many times they've been messed up. I usually ask for a "clean up" which basically removes excess overgrown hair around the edges. So she began. It hurt like heck!, as it always does. Oh, the cost of beauty. But it was over rather quickly and she did a fabulous job. The next time I went I tried the other tech and she did a great job as well, although I had to direct her a few times because the communication between us was a bit challenging. She offered to try a thing called, tinting. I tried it and immediately wanted to cry. LOL. My eyebrows were so thick and unreasonably fake looking, like they were plastered on my face. I recently moved part time in between this area and the other side of the US, the West Coast earlier this year. I have my typical walk in threading boutiques where I am from and always such a pleasure. I would like to also state that I've never given less than a 4 star review to anyone on Yelp and I'm not one to complain, it's rare, especially on social media. So with that being said I'm sure Simky is lovely and my only regret is not meeting her and actually giving my feedback based on her. I don't know her second hand ladies name but she also is Indian, Pakistan or of some decent of that nature. She isn't very nice, I don't care about your opinions on my brows, but more importantly she is flat out rude. I'm the customer, I came in at 5:40 last Saturday evening, you close at 6. She rolls her eyes when I walk in and says really?!? Yes she said this to me. Then she says she could do my brows, I told her a full face threading which by the way is $40 (with eyebrows) that I didn't need. She did it easy, too quick like 12 mins, all the hair wasn't gone but I didn't want to sit in that chair any longer. To top it off, as she's finishing me after complaining that I came in late, another lady walks in for her brows and she takes her. Turn off your open sign if you don't want customers prior to your listed closing time on Yelp and your business sign. Also, she made sure I was aware that someone spilled her hot wax all over the place right before I got there. Not my problem, were not coworkers or buddies and no excuse for the attitude when I walked in. Needless to say, I hope Simky realizes, family, friend or whomever this lady is she is hurting her business. There are many options out there and she moves way too quick. 12 mins for a full face threading for $40?! I had hair still when I left, unacceptable, mind you once I checked out it was still 5 minutes to closing or scheduled closing time. She seems to have her own schedule. Terrible customer service! I purchased a groupon for this establishment for a mani-pedi. I called for an appointment and was told the technician would return my call to book. My call was not returned. A few days later my wife walked in and booked an appointment for me which was a four business day window wait. I showed up for my appointment on time and waited 5 minutes to be greeted. I was told the technician was running late but would arrive soon. The tech arrived 15 minutes late and then refused to honor my groupon as she stated that the tech named on the certificate no longer worked there and that I would have to pay her directly and then request a refund from groupon. I've been looking for a good place for threading since I moved from Kendall to North Miami. I read the reviews for this place and thought I'd found it. I went in this past Sunday before noon, there was no one in there (great since I hate to wait). There was only one lady working, I didn't catch her name and she did not offer it. I wanted my eyebrows and upper lip done, when I informed her of this she pointed me towards the price list on the front of the desk. Okay, no big deal, the pricing was less than I thought it would be. She sat me in the chair and without asking if I wanted my brows cleaned up a bit or shaped, she just started working. I was a bit stunned. I think that I may have interrupted her since while she was supposed to have been paying attention to me, she was more concerned with the soccer match taking place on the television. Anyway, she finished off by slathering gel on my brows and then walking to the register to ring me up, all of this without saying a word. She did not offer me a mirror to see the work and check if I was satisfied or if I wanted more taken off. I took some tissues and wiped the globs of gel off of my face and then checked my brows in the mirror. They weren't the best but neither were they the worst threading job that I've had. I paid and left a tip, but I will not be visiting again. Perhaps I caught her on a bad day, but first impressions go a long way with me and this one left a bad taste in my mouth. I will continue to make the drive from North Miami to Kendall every two weeks. It's a bit of a trek, but I know that at least when I get there, they will treat me like a person. read more
