Started my 3yo son in little ninja class Nov 2021. We were on and off with the schedule so if you start that young ...consistency is key This facility is extremely clean. There's absolutely no "gym smell" the restroom is clean Coach TJ is amazing with instructing the kiddos! I only have high praises for the instructor. My son is more on the rambunctious side so he gets called out everytime we attend but it's great discipline. Coach Kai and Zooey are also very helpful with little ones who need more attention. The quality of Sim Go Academy keeps getting better and better. The instructors are so caring that they never rush you out of a class when it is over to close the gym. Despite the very high a/c costs this summer due the hottest June/July on record the rates have remained the same. At 75, being the oldest member I am treated with so much respect and understanding. My age or lack of flexibility is no hindrance to anyone .Sim and his staff have always, and without hesitation, have given me other ways to do techniques that my age and flexibility might otherwise keep me from accomplishing. I have never had an issue having my membership temporarily put on hold no matter how many times I had to undergo a medical procedure or recover from an injury. No forms or notes are required, I just tell them I need the time off. I can bring frieends from out of town to join me at a very reasonable mat fee as well. If I ever want to use a different card for any reason (approaching limit, cash back promo, canceling card, etc) it has never been an issue and takes all of a minute to change the card being used. The excellence of the location whether you drive, walk, bike, or take the bus continues to be a nice feature as well. What I appreciate so much is that whenever I have a question it is always answered so completely whether it be about a techniques being taught or any othe r matter. The members are so understanding as well. A GREAT place to train jiujitsu for all age levels, experience levels, belt levels, and level of time that one has to particpate in the classes. Cobra Kai is the real deal if you're looking to expand your jiu jitsu game. Coach Sim along with the other black belts at the gym are extremely helpful and genuinely care about the students that attend classes. Every time there are competitions, Coach Sim shows up to coach and support his students. The vibe at Cobra Kai is laid back but people aren't afraid to push you to get better. The name is deceiving. As an 80s kid, I loved Karate Kid and never identified with the bad guy's dojo. BUT had several friends recommend this place, so gave it a try. Completely surprised at how welcoming and helpful everyone was. Not like to movie at all lol. Best first experience trying a Jiu Jitsu class. The gym owner, Sim Go, has a talent for explaining the moves while also making it fun by cracking jokes in between. He also is one of the most badass & humble people you'll ever meet. Since was my first time, I was worried about sparring right away. Sim said I could just do the technical drilling and watch until I was comfortable. But since everyone was cool, decided to jump in the sparring "rolling". Sim paired me up with specific partners. I rolled with a couple blue belts, and purple belt. Every student was controlled and calm. No jerking or cranking. No one tried to hurt me, but helped me learn, and have fun. Sim Go and all the students at Cobra Kai are great ambassadors and community of Jiu Jitsu practitioners. read more

My wife and I dropped in for a fundamental gi class and stayed for the gi class immediately following. We were greeted by head instructor Sim; very nice and welcoming dude. The first class was a technique only class, with very detailed instruction. Sim was able to address all questions and did so for all to understand. The second class comprised of additional techniques, followed by positional sparring and free rolling. Very fun rounds with some tough guys. Overall, Sim was a great instructor and the guys at his academy were welcoming and friendly. My wife didn't feel uncomfortable at all (the only female at the class) and had a good experience. I've joined over two years ago and can tell you this place is great for adults with minimal combat sports experience but wanted to get their feet wet. I have trained at Sim Go Academy since moving to the Las Vegas area in early December of 2016. The longer I train there the more help I get with my jiujitsu from Sim and the other instructors and members. Despite being the oldest member I am treated with total respect by all and fit in extremely well. I have always had all my questions answered when asked and all those involved have always taken the time with me for any concerns that I have on or off the mats. The location is excellent in that it is very close to the 215 Beltway that encircles Las Vegas or the 101 Rainbow bus that goes all the way from Rancho in the North to Blue Diamond in the South. The facility is very clean, the mats are cleaned thoroughly twice a day. Time to register and sign up is minimal, all major credit and debit cards are welcome and you are never locked in to a contract. If you need to take a month or more off for any reason it is never an issue and unlike some other places your monthly debits will be suspended, all you have to do is to let them know. During weekdays they even have 2 different class periods for adults, one in the morning and one in the evening that makes it easy to fit your training to your work, school, or other schedule. I have been training at Cobra Kai for 3 years now. I'm usually at the downtown location but try to make it to southwest on my days off to change it up a bit. I must say Jiu Jitsu is already hard but being a girl can be a little tougher as it can be a little intimidating. CK is very welcoming so that made me feel a lot more comfortable. All the instructors are pretty good at pairing us girls with the right training partners. The instructors are super attentive and are always happy to help if we have any questions. I've been a regular at the CK downtown location for 3-4 years now. Today was my first time checking out South. Very cool! Right off the highway and easy to get too. Plenty of parking and nice finishes inside. The group of trainees are just as welcoming as the group downtown and best part - all the same coaches as downtown.
