I've been to a bunch of different BJJ schools/gyms and by far Sim Go Academy is my favorite! Sim is a 4th or 5th degree black belt and you won't know it because he doesn't wear his stripes on his belt. He's probably the most humble BJJ professor I've ever met. I've never heard him talk down to anyone and he talks to EVERYONE with respect and kindness. He also still competes and wins! He has a group of competitors that smashes the competition and still so humble. The atmosphere when you step into the school/gym is chill vibes. You don't have to wear certain color gi's or the school gi. The team is awesome also, everyone is cool and chill. No one's trying to prove themselves and hurting other teammates. They're also great teammates by helping and giving advice. To me, I feel more like a family member than just another number coming in the doors. I have random conversations with Sim and it's not always about jiu jitsu. He cares about everyone and everyone's growth. There's a good amount of classes and several different times of day so more people can train accordingly to their busy schedules, Gi and no Gi. Ive met so many amazing people here from law enforcement to doctors, nurses, and other professionals of all ages and backgrounds. It's close to the 215 and rainbow so quick access to the freeway. There's a clean restroom and also clean showers! A lot of people come in their lunch break and then shower before they go back to work, super convenient! I definitely recommend this school/gym to everyone young and old, male or female, and they have a great kids class also! The price of membership is also less than majority of the schools in Vegas and not as good. Try a class and then sign up for 6 months (best deal & free gi) or just drop in when visiting. Today's class had about 10-12 black belts visiting from Japan, Ireland, and other places. read more

My husband and I moved to Las Vegas from Australia in 2024 and checked out Simgo while looking for a new gym, and boyyyy were we glad we did! We loved it so much we have been there ever since! Simgo has such a friendly and down to earth vibe. The coaches made us feel so welcome right away, and we've made a lot of great friendships through the gym. All the coaches are awesome, super knowledgeable, supportive and genuinely invested in helping you grow. Training here has totally changed the way I train. The guidance, mindset and encouragement I've received been truly life changing for me. If you are looking for a BJJ gym in Vegas, I would highly recommend! read more

At the age of 58, I embarked on a journey to regain my physical fitness by exploring various martial arts disciplines. After careful consideration, I opted for Jijitsu, recognizing its suitability for my age and the potential risks associated with other combat sports like boxing, mixed martial arts, and kickboxing. Jijitsu offers the advantage of self-control and the ability to tap out in challenging situations. Upon conducting research, I identified several Jijitsu gyms in my vicinity. My primary focus was on the qualifications of the coach, the cleanliness of the facility, and the quality of my training partners. The Sim Go Academy consistently met all these criteria. Sim Go Academy is led by Sim, a seasoned coach with over two decades of experience. He is supported by a team of highly skilled coaches who possess extensive competition backgrounds. Their attentiveness, knowledge, and expertise are exceptional. The gym maintains a pristine environment with showers, change rooms, ample space, and a meticulously maintained mat that undergoes regular vacuuming and mopping after each training session. The gym's atmosphere is characterized by a welcoming and friendly environment. The members are aware that the primary objective is personal improvement, health maintenance, and consistent training. Since commencing my training at Sim Go Academy, I have experienced a significant enhancement in my mental focus. I have successfully lost weight, improved my overall health, and developed a profound desire to continue training. Jijitsu has become an integral part of my life, thanks to Sim, my head coach, and my dedicated training partners. If you are contemplating joining a martial arts academy, I highly recommend Sim Go Academy. Do not hesitate to take the first step. You will undoubtedly find it to be an enriching and enjoyable experience. read more

Started my 3yo son in little ninja class Nov 2021. We were on and off with the schedule so if you start that young ...consistency is key This facility is extremely clean. There's absolutely no "gym smell" the restroom is clean Coach TJ is amazing with instructing the kiddos! I only have high praises for the instructor. My son is more on the rambunctious side so he gets called out everytime we attend but it's great discipline. Coach Kai and Zooey are also very helpful with little ones who need more attention. I definitely recommend bringing your child to this place they are extremely welcoming and affordable read more

I wanted to find an alternative to strength training and try BJJ for a trial and absolutely love it here. It's a friendly environment with a great mix of people from different age, size and just in general. Great place to train as a group of friends and good cardio. Head professor Sim surrounds himself with great instructors who share his same values for the sport. He is well known in the BJJ community and an OG of BJJ before MMA went mainstream. Truly passionate and just trying to share his knowledge to students willing to learn his style, and expanding the sport! Very detailed also when it comes to instruction and great music selection when it's time to roll! read more

Cobra Kai is the real deal if you're looking to expand your jiu jitsu game. Coach Sim along with the other black belts at the gym are extremely helpful and genuinely care about the students that attend classes. Every time there are competitions, Coach Sim shows up to coach and support his students. The vibe at Cobra Kai is laid back but people aren't afraid to push you to get better. The building, mats, and interior is brand new and the gym is kept clean. Would definitely recommend checking out Cobra Kai if you're in the Vegas area. read more

Sim Go Academy - Laura and I will Professor Simpson Go at his academy in Las Vegas, Nevada. - Brazilian Jiu-jitsu Near Me - Las Vegas, Nevada

I trained with cobra kai bjj at their Charleston gym and it was a wonderful experience. Most people are friendly and willing to help when you have questions about certain movements and techniques. Of course, we rolled hard but respect each other skills whether you're a beginner, intermediate or expert. The gym has camaraderie, respect and friendliness. Come train with Sim and other guys there and you won't regret it. It is better to experience it yourself. read more

I dropped in at SimGo Academy as a hobbyist blue belt. I was a little nervous since this was my first time dropping into a gym in Vegas, but everyone was super welcoming and friendly. The instruction was awesome, training partners were excellent, and the facility is super clean. There's really not much else I could have asked for. I wish I was in town longer so I can train here more! I will definitely by stopping by every time I am in town. read more

The quality of Sim Go Academy keeps getting better and better. The instructors are so caring that they never rush you out of a class when it is over to close the gym. Despite the very high a/c costs this summer due the hottest June/July on record the rates have remained the same. At 75, being the oldest member I am treated with so much respect and understanding. My age or lack of flexibility is no hindrance to anyone .Sim and his staff have always, and without hesitation, have given me other ways to do techniques that my age and flexibility might otherwise keep me from accomplishing. I have never had an issue having my membership temporarily put on hold no matter how many times I had to undergo a medical procedure or recover from an injury. No forms or notes are required, I just tell them I need the time off. I can bring frieends from out of town to join me at a very reasonable mat fee as well. If I ever want to use a different card for any reason (approaching limit, cash back promo, canceling card, etc) it has never been an issue and takes all of a minute to change the card being used. The excellence of the location whether you drive, walk, bike, or take the bus continues to be a nice feature as well. What I appreciate so much is that whenever I have a question it is always answered so completely whether it be about a techniques being taught or any othe r matter. The members are so understanding as well. A GREAT place to train jiujitsu for all age levels, experience levels, belt levels, and level of time that one has to particpate in the classes. If you have an interest in jiujitsu at any level this is the place to be! read more

I dropped in for a Gi class while in town for a conference. Everyone was super friendly and welcoming. The class was great and there was a really diverse mix of belt levels. Safe, challenging rolls with very skilled guys. I hope to return again someday. Thank you! read more

Been brining my son here for a year now and I love everything about this academy. The friendliest staff who really take care of their community. They even give the kids free snacks after every class. Prior to signing up here we checked out about 4 other schools in our area and no one had control over their little Jonás the way Coach TG does. He's stern and diligent in his instructions but fun loving and Leon isn't enough to allow your child to fall in love with training and simply have fun. I love love love it here and any time I can rave about this school I do! read more

The absolute best place for kids to eat free chips. And master the art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

My son has been coming here for about a month and a half now and he loves this place,I don't got to force him to come here because he love it that much. We come here about 4 times a week but could come more if we like. All of the instructors here are great, all of them make everyone feel so welcome and are very friendly. Classes are 6 days a week and the time goes by age group. I'm looking forward to watching my son learn here for years to come. read more

A great place to learn! I've been training with Sim and the CKJJ team for over two years, and the atmosphere, quality of teaching, and attention to detail is top notch. Everyone is friendly and there's a real family vibe from everyone who trains (which is great because getting into a sport like BJJ can be a little intimidating to start!) Another place where this school shines is the kids program, every child gets attention and you can really tell the instructors care about the development of each child. I first started training here to help me lose weight and deal with outside stress, BJJ is great for both, and at Cobra Kai you'll get it with a welcoming atmosphere from some of the best athletes in the city. read more

The name is deceiving. As an 80s kid, I loved Karate Kid and never identified with the bad guy's dojo. BUT had several friends recommend this place, so gave it a try. Completely surprised at how welcoming and helpful everyone was. Not like to movie at all lol. Best first experience trying a Jiu Jitsu class. The gym owner, Sim Go, has a talent for explaining the moves while also making it fun by cracking jokes in between. He also is one of the most badass & humble people you'll ever meet. Since was my first time, I was worried about sparring right away. Sim said I could just do the technical drilling and watch until I was comfortable. But since everyone was cool, decided to jump in the sparring "rolling". Sim paired me up with specific partners. I rolled with a couple blue belts, and purple belt. Every student was controlled and calm. No jerking or cranking. No one tried to hurt me, but helped me learn, and have fun. Sim Go and all the students at Cobra Kai are great ambassadors and community of Jiu Jitsu practitioners. read more

Sim Go Academy - Main mat in the middle-VERY CLEAN AND COVID FREE! - Brazilian Jiu-jitsu Near Me - Las Vegas, Nevada

My wife and I dropped in for a fundamental gi class and stayed for the gi class immediately following. We were greeted by head instructor Sim; very nice and welcoming dude. The first class was a technique only class, with very detailed instruction. Sim was able to address all questions and did so for all to understand. The second class comprised of additional techniques, followed by positional sparring and free rolling. Very fun rounds with some tough guys. Overall, Sim was a great instructor and the guys at his academy were welcoming and friendly. My wife didn't feel uncomfortable at all (the only female at the class) and had a good experience. Thanks for the hospitality and hope to be back again on the next visit! read more

I have been training at Cobra Kai for 3 years now. I'm usually at the downtown location but try to make it to southwest on my days off to change it up a bit. I must say Jiu Jitsu is already hard but being a girl can be a little tougher as it can be a little intimidating. CK is very welcoming so that made me feel a lot more comfortable. All the instructors are pretty good at pairing us girls with the right training partners. The instructors are super attentive and are always happy to help if we have any questions. Happy I found a place like Cobra Kai. read more

I have trained at Sim Go Academy since moving to the Las Vegas area in early December of 2016. The longer I train there the more help I get with my jiujitsu from Sim and the other instructors and members. Despite being the oldest member I am treated with total respect by all and fit in extremely well. I have always had all my questions answered when asked and all those involved have always taken the time with me for any concerns that I have on or off the mats. The location is excellent in that it is very close to the 215 Beltway that encircles Las Vegas or the 101 Rainbow bus that goes all the way from Rancho in the North to Blue Diamond in the South. The facility is very clean, the mats are cleaned thoroughly twice a day. Time to register and sign up is minimal, all major credit and debit cards are welcome and you are never locked in to a contract. If you need to take a month or more off for any reason it is never an issue and unlike some other places your monthly debits will be suspended, all you have to do is to let them know. During weekdays they even have 2 different class periods for adults, one in the morning and one in the evening that makes it easy to fit your training to your work, school, or other schedule. They offer both gi and no gi classes as well. I enjoy training there very much and so will you. read more

I've joined over two years ago and can tell you this place is great for adults with minimal combat sports experience but wanted to get their feet wet. Just tell Sim or any of the black belts you're new. The higher belts are friendly and all about technique and avoiding injuries. Also the kids class is creating monsters. I see a lot of parents joining with their kids which is neat. I definitely plan to enroll my kids at Simgo, once I have kids... read more

I've been a regular at the CK downtown location for 3-4 years now. Today was my first time checking out South. Very cool! Right off the highway and easy to get too. Plenty of parking and nice finishes inside. The group of trainees are just as welcoming as the group downtown and best part - all the same coaches as downtown. The coaches are knowledgeable, helpful and hilarious, they're real. I'd definitely come again! I'm looking forward to checking out the showers when they're done. read more
