Zenith By Robert Drysdale - Brazilian jiu-jitsu Academy - Martial Arts Near Me - Las Vegas, Nevada

Drysdale is a terrific martial arts school with a variety of programs on offer. We primarily attended for my son to participate in the kids BJJ and it was a great for him. He progressed a ton in the year we attended (we sadly needed to move out of town). I think the instructors are universally encouraging, patient, and supportive. By the way, the owner actually wrote a couple books about BJJ so he is a real student of the art. Wish we could give it 6 stars! read more

This place is amazing. I just started taking classes with my son, and so far he really enjoys it. I thought he would be scared but robert drysdale helped him overcome that fear. The coaches are so friendly, and welcoming. They are definitely here to teach you, and make you apart of the family super quick. I would definitely recommend this place if you want to learn jiu-jitsu or Muay Thai. Definitely worth it. The prices each month are very reasonable and they have amazing plans. read more

Zenith is a place where world champions are created, self confidence is born, and friendships are cultivated. We've been to 3 Jiu Jitsu gyms over the years but Zenith is a "Unicorn" for many reasons. Robert Drysdale has excellent attention to detail and knows all his student's strengths and weaknesses, making it a great place for beginners and advanced students. His teaching style and approach feels very customized to each student's abilities. He not only teaches, he applies corrections, and because of this, his students are able to know where their deficiencies are, and they continue to evolve and progress with confidence. You'd be surprised to know that many Professors don't always take their time to focus on these small details nor have the patience. That's why Zenith is an incredible place for students at all levels. The instructors and students treat you like family and support each other's well being. Robert Drysdale is a legend in the Jiu Jitsu world, but that doesn't stop him from being incredibly humble and down to earth. As a role model and coach, his students walk off the mats as better versions of themselves. Zenith is truly one team, one army, one family. No egos, no bs, just a unified love for Brazilian Jiu Jitsu here. read more

Been here before and trained with Coach Sunny. Everyone was super helpful and patient with me. Not only that, the moves were easy to grasp and the pace was definitely helpful to a beginner. Anytime I'm in vegas, I'll always come back! read more

Best jiu jitsu school in Las Vegas! Great for beginners and advanced practitioners. We've been in the Zenith family since we moved here over 10 years ago. read more

Today was my first day at Drysdale Jiu Jitsu, and it went better than I could have imagined. The facilities are clean, the staff is knowledgeable, and there was no feeling of intimidation. As a Las Vegas Local, Drysdale offers a 3-day free trial. I went to the Monday 10:30 am class (Gi class), but being new to Jiu Jitsu, I do not own a Gi. Thankfully for me, I was able to borrow a Gi from the staff during the class. The typical Gi rental price is $10 for the day.  Being new to Jiu Jitsu, you are required to finish a checklist of basic moves. This requirement makes me confident that Drysdale Jiu Jitsu will adequately support me and nurture my growth. I was fortunate to have Harvey, a brown belt at Drysdale, show me these basics while expanding on guard concepts. Once we moved back with the main class, I had the privilege to work with Coach Ken, who, like Harvey, was excellent. The staff & students know how to make you feel comfortable, like you're part of the family, even on your first day.  I highly recommend Drysdale Jiu Jitsu. I am excited to start my journey here and can't wait to get my kids in here. read more

I moved to Las Vegas from Australia for the second time and scouted around for a gym that was going to be home and push me like never before. My first few classes felt like I had never trained a day in my life prior exactly what I was looking for. Definitely a place that welcomes newcomers and the proficient. Over the last year here I have elevated my personal goals by challenging all aspects of my training. You have world class coaches who are valuable on and off the mat; genuine and passionate people who make the time to help see you grow and push your limits. I loved building upon my game with the judo and wrestling classes, feeling a lot more confident and well-rounded. Will miss the Zenith family, but will make sure I get back there again and see everyone soon! ‍ read more

So I will first start by saying that I don't leave lots of reviews as I'm very busy and don't take the time . My reason for leaving review is to help people make a informed decision based on reviews and find the right one that gives them the info they need . I was looking for a Jujitsu academy for my 6 year old son to start his journey . We started with a few other spots that are well known " don't want to name names " . They just weren't good fits for kids in our experience. They didn't dedicate the academy to the times when kids have there classes to a complete separate side for just kids classes . I think the is crucial for kids to learn with out distractions . Zenith Has is own space just for kids classes . Nothing else takes place in the whole dedicated side of the academy while kids classes are taking place . This is so essential to kids not being distracted and learning . Second they have no less then 2 instructors when a kids class is in progress . Each student gets instruction and over site . There instructor cadre is also top notch and are so good with the kids . They keep it fun for them but also keep it structured . It's really a great formula for next gen to learn the art. My son absolutely loves and looks forward to coming everyday if he could . Next is the Staff . They are extremely friendly and well organized . Robert Drysdale is an amazing teacher and coach . He takes the time to learn students name and gives the kids and his adult students great instruction and mentors them to be better then they think they can be. He's knowledge shows in this academy. The academy is a very clean well kept place . It's comfortable for parents to observe classes and it's always a nice experience . There's always plenty of parking and easy to find . If you are in any way considering a place to train or have you kids train I highly recommend! Sincerely Happy Father read more

Vegas has a lot of options on good gyms to choose from however i think as a Jiu Jitsu Competitor i get the best training Vegas has to offer right here at Drysdale's. We even have a lot of people who just do jj as a hobby and even they're bad a*s! Drysdale's gives you a wide variety of classes to choose from along with multiple time slots - ALL with high level professors/instructors/teachers. We even have a shnasy all women's class if you don't want to train with smelly sweaty men. (We're pretty cool so come train with us.) In conclusion - I gotta say going to a new gym was nerve wracking but so far I've felt nothing but love from everyone here. It's so family oriented, no drama, welcoming and encouraging you have a friend in everyone you can think of; from the training partners to the parents all the way down to the staff. Zenith By Robert Drysdale - Martial Arts Near Me - Las Vegas, Nevada

Honestly I have been to several gyms in Las Vegas before coming to Drysdale and this is hands down the best gym I have gone to so far. Specific training is a must especially for white belts like myself. You can't just drill without resistance then expect to get good that way. Specific training allows you to use the technique you just learned and apply it in a mock real life scenario. Lots of black belts come here and they are all good at what they do, each offering something unique to the teachings. Great gym, good job to the owner for creating a great space. Also, their first class is free, so if you want to try you literally have nothing to lose and everything to gain. read more

While in Vegas, I had some time to kill while my wife was at a conference. I brought some no-gi gear and checked out the local schools. I have been a fan of Robert Drysdale and the no-gi class worked perfectly for my schedule. It's a long way off the strip, so if you're a tourist, you're going to have to Uber there. Drysdale wasn't teaching while I was there (and I was legitimately super bummed at first), but class was taught by Rafael Domingos, who is an EBI and CJJ vet, and is super legit. The class was great. I learned some good things even during warm-up. The technique portion was very cool, a lot different style than I'm used to. And finally the rolls were great. At least when I was there, Rafael would pair people up, based on skill and size. I got some great rolls in with a lot of people. If I go back to Vegas, I plan on going to Drysdale's again. read more

I am very impressed with with studio. My husband and kids started coming a few months ago. After watching for a bit I decided to jump into the combat fitness and Jiu jitsu classes. Everyone has been so nice and welcoming despite me being a complete newbie and having no skill I'm getting in better shape and learning new skills at every class. So much fun! read more

Abstract: Without question the best place to train Brasilian Jiu Jitsu in Las Vegas. Robert Drysdale is as legit as they come. ADCC Absolute Champion, multiple-time World Champion, undefeated in MMA. And Sonny Nohara is no fucking slouch either; he alone could get a group of smaller guys ( LESS THAN 65 kg) in a gym and easily make it both worthwhile to join and profitable for himself to own. And the training partners you will gain there .. wow ... Legit Black Belts F. Curreri and S. Spangler; Brown Belt K. Woodmansee (who I actually have never trained with, but have competed against); Purples Almodovar brothers and last but not least R. Lopez. Solid Blues (Matt comes to mind, but he should be a Purple by now) all around as well. This is the place to go for top-notch BJJ training partners, especially if you are on the smaller side, and even if you are not (Robert and Spangler are not small by any means). Location-wise, I never trained at the new place, which I guess is bigger and better than their first one. Their first one was a stereotypical, small/cozy BJJ spot in a dime-a-dozen strip mall near CSN-Charleston. The bottom line is that if you are here to train BJJ, you cannot go wrong. - E Postscript. Women are in really good hands with Sofia Drysdale, the Mrs of the academy who is Robert''s wife and also a legitimate, accomplished BJJ Black Belt and AT LEAST Judo Brown Belt if not Black Belt in that discipline as well. read more

I have been active in many different activities throughout my life, and with that I have had my fair share of coaches, instructors, and teachers. I am blown away by the instruction and connection made between coach and student at this place. I know nothing about Jiu Jitsu, but I know a talented and gifted team of coaches/teachers when I see them. Gus is amazing at instructing kids and explaining things on their level in a fun yet effective way for them to perform successfully. These classes, both for kids and adults, are held with such high standards yet not in a pretentious or intimidating manner. We came here thanks to the recommendation from a friend even after I had searched the internet high and low for a studio for us to call home. Not one person I've come across here behaves better than the other. Even sitting down with others waiting and watching I was welcomed with grace and curiosity of who we were and our Jiu Jitsu journey. Unbeknownst to me, this studio was opened by a Jiu Jitsu champion and is the training home for many others. We signed up the same day we came in for our free trial classes because of all that I have written and more. I look forward to more in our Jiu Jitsu journey here at Zenith Drysdale, and will definitely keep this post updated. read more

I was on vacation and dropped into a class. Instructor and students were awesome! Am definitely coming back next time I'm in Vegas! One thing did raise my eyebrow in suspicion though. The lady at the front desk charged me $25 drop in fee and after filling out the waiver forms and paper work It says "enjoy your free day pass!".. Just left me feeling like she stole money from me. Besides that, I loved the place! read more

Dropped in from out of town. I came here on a couple recommendations. I took the no-gi class (1 hour) and the gi fundamentals class (1.5 hours). The coaches were excellent. They gave clear, detailed instruction and followed a weekly theme. About half the class is instruction and drilling, so they leave lots of time for rolling every day, which I like. There's a good mix of people to roll with and the pace is fairly fast - so it's a great workout. Both coaches and students were friendly and totally willing to help each other improve. I'm going to come back each time I'm in Vegas. read more

Robert Drysdale is one of the few people to have submission victories over ADCC World Champions Andre Galvao and Marcelo Garcia - two of arguably the best grapplers in the world. He himself is a world champion, and was victorious in two fights in the UFC. But being a world class competitor doesn't always translate into being a good instructor. Fortunately, Robert is also world class in this way. I got to participate in one of his classes and I loved the way he taught. I am a BJJ Black belt and have also competed in the world championships (I actually battled him in ADCC 2007), so I have seen a lot in my time. But I picked up a few tips on a basic stack pass that I never thought of before. More importantly, I appreciated that he also focused on the mental aspect of the martial arts. Too often people are purely focused on the physical aspect. Robert went over some key details of the proper mindset for passing guard that really resonated with me. On top of that, the guy is a class act and it reflects in his students. An instructor with good character will pass that on to his students. I had the pleasure of rolling with three of them and all were friendly, humble, and very respectful. read more

I am new to Jiu Jitsu and within a week I'm already addicted to it. This establishment made it very easy to start out in such a rigorous and intimidating sport. Being coached by one of legends of BJJ Robert Drysdale is an honor, he really cares about his students and their progress. As a woman I felt pressure but thanks to the welcoming staff and my girl Cami, I quickly learned confidence with their thorough instruction and demonstration. I want to thank the coaches for being so patient with a beginner like me. I definitely recommend training here. Best gym in town! Great family environment and world class instruction. I lost 20 pounds in my first month!

What a better way to start a bachelor party weeknd then getting a private lesson with BJJ God Robert Drysdale. Among MMA and BJJ folks,. Robert Drysdale is the go to instructor for world class BJJ and MMA coaching. Multiple World Champion in every level of submission wrestling and BJJ.. (and i got a private lesson.. woo hoo). Worth every penny. Who do you think trains a lot of the top UFC/WEC fighters in their ground game??? hmmm? I havent' trained in a year but i promised myself that I would get my ass back on the mat in 2010. Robert lit my BJJ fire again!!.. I don't know where to start how amazing Robert is. He is a very personable guy, very patient and real. And a world class competitor, coach in the science and art of brazilian jiu jitsu. He taught the fine details of the brabo and anaconda choke, and showed me details of his open guard game. I was in BJJ heaven.. He broke down strategy and detail that i never really thought about, and then he proceeded to destroy me on the mat. .haha.. He then went over some flaws he saw in my game. It was quite a beatdown.. ahha.. He submitted wid stuff that was pretty unreal.. Think about passing guard and getting tapped wid a brabo choke.. Much props to Sean for setting me up and inviting me out for a couple of group classes. ( I couldn't make the classes cuz my body was wrecked from the class and private, and bachelor weekend destroyed the rest.. haha) Robert Drysdale's BJJ instruction and school is highly recommended. You want the best then you have to train here!! (Wish i did..) And on any given day you might walk in and see Robert Drysdale coaching a UFC Champ or 2... read more

What can I say, best in town. Nice people, decent price, and great instruction. They have a selection of jiu jitsu, gi and no gi, kick boxing and some strength and conditioning classes as well as kids classes. Forest Griffin works out here on a regular basis and Drysdale teaches some of the classes regularly, not all of them though. Not going to talk about prices specifically but I shopped around and this place was competitive, nothing was cheaper. Most places seem to be similar with a few places that are priced higher. This gym has a world renowned jui jitsu coach, in a town that is the mecca of MMA, what else do you want. They also have real good prices on GIs when they have them. read more

Great place to train at! The people at Drysdale Jiu Jitsu are warm and friendly! I was greeted at the front door by the manager Ryan and he took the time to explain which classes would be the best fit for me. Before class I watched the children's classes and they were packed! The kids looked like they were enjoying themselves so that was a good sign. After getting dressed I took the advance BJJ class and it had nearly 30 people in it! Lots of brown, purple, and blue belts who were all HIGHLY skilled. Everyone was friendly and happy to be there, I didn't come across anyone who had a chip on their shoulder or who's intent was to hurt you. Very positive energy in the gym! The class format is as follows: light jogging, calisthenics, light warm up, 3 techniques that flowed together, positional drilling, then positional sparring based in the techniques that were taught. Robert Drysdale went in great detail over each technique and breaks it down so that even an absolute beginner gets it. Towards the end of class I got to spar to Robert and he completely killed/dominated me! My lungs burned and I nearly puked! I've been training for 14 years and felt like a white belt! I'll be back to visit when I'm in town! read more

When traveling to Las Vegas you will have too many choices when it comes to Gyms, MMA clubs and Jiu Jitsu Academies. As a once mecca of bodybuilding 10 years ago now Vegas is the Fight Capital of the country. Having trained at nearly every academy in town at one time or another and I can clearly state there are some good ones, some great ones and some that just are not relevant any longer. The Drysdale Academy is not only centrally located and convenient from all areas of town including the strip but also has ample sq footage to hold seminars and multiple classes. Offering Jiu Jitsu, MMA and kick boxing, this is a club you need to visit.
