The only thing I wish we had done was add more power outlets. We only did 2 and I think we should have done 4- lesson learned for the future! Overall- even with the pandemic they were able to make everything happen. They got behind but this was expected because of supplies being delayed etc. they communicated with us every step of the way though. Having completed numerous construction projects in our lives both personal and for work- you get what you pay for! It's not worth Id for us to deal with trouble and issues and fighting with the GC- we did that before- the peace of mind and known quality from Hill Country make it an easy call. They will give you the service you want and will go the extra mile if things change midway!

From the very beginning, they made the entire building process smooth, stress-free, and even enjoyable (which is not something most people say about construction projects!) Nick is one of those rare people who actually cares about his work and his clients. He's hands-on, super knowledgeable, and always makes time to answer questions or talk through ideas. You never feel like just another customer with him. He truly wants you to love the home he's building for you. The craftsmanship from his team has been top-notch. Every little detail was done with care, and you can tell they take pride in their work. One of the contractors he used stained the flooring and Nick covered the expense at getting it fixed so it wouldn't be an issue since the contractor refused. He also trimmed my neighbors trees for him by request of the neighbor and paid for it out of pocket. Which was really surprising. Plus, Nick and Glenn kept everything on track and within budget, which is huge. No unexpected surprises, no cutting corners.. just quality work done right. If you're looking for a builder who's honest, reliable, and actually listens, Nick and CKN Homes are the way to go. I'd recommend them a hundred times over and will be using them for the remodel we are planning to start next year too. I shopped around quite a lot and I'm so happy I chose them.

CKN is a local Austin home builder that claims the following on its website: "Exceptional service…read morebefore, during, and after, with an unwavering commitment to customer satisfaction." That is far from the case. While my one-year-old home seems well-built, CKN hires horrible contractors for many trades. Their landscaper is the stereotypical "jack-of-all-trades, master of none." The best example of this is the poor paver installation around the pool. He failed to use proper base material and polymeric sand, which resulted in the pavers sinking after six months. Less than five months later, sunken pavers became a tripping hazard, and CKN refused to fix them under the one-year warranty. Furthermore, the house was not ready on the day I closed, so CKN had to get their landscaper to address a massive stain on the patio caused by storing equipment after I moved. Two attempts to apply a skim coat failed as the coating started chipping. The process of trying to fix that was a joke, as the landscaper was sloppy. He failed to protect adjoining areas while applying the skim coat and got the product on the pavers. When replacing stained pavers, he got sand in the pool. Here are more examples: The carport has a poor quality epoxy that showed wear after a few months, and stains are permanent. From my previous experience, high-quality epoxy and application processes repel such stains and help retain their sheen. The fence painters were sloppy and got paint on the foundation and the carport walls. The fence frame rusted after several months, and they had to repaint it. After I moved in, I realized they cut corners and did not install linen cabinets in two bathrooms. They also left one landscape bed void of shrubs, which meant the pool was open to the street and pedestrian traffic viewing. They did a poor job of trimming the trees, claiming city canopy trimming restrictions that were misleading. I had to pay $1,000 for tree trimming after I moved. I do not recommend CKN Capital Group, LLC.

Nick has to be one of the most patient people I've ever met...he so chill but organized and responsive. Steve is such a kind and hardworking person and I appreciated his regular status updates. All of the work is itemized and documented through an online tool, so budget, timeland change orders are clear. The entire project remained on schedule even with me throwing in a few things along the way, of which they were also so incredibly patient with. What an awesome crew! We are definitely planning to work with them for future projects and I look forward to referring them to friends and colleagues.

Matterhorn came recommended from my wife's boss, and that put them over the edge as far as hiring them. They demoed our old kitchen, removed soffits and outfitted the kitchen for new cabinets. They demoed our old tile floor and installed the new vinyl plank flooring. Then after our cabinets and counters were installed, they assisted us with our appliance outfitting. As with any home renovation project, there are snags and problems along the way, and they worked through them with ease. I've heard so many horror stories of people having nightmare experiences with contractors during home renovation projects, but I can safely say you won't with Matterhorn. Do your research and read the reviews - and hire Matterhorn for your next project. We will be having them back to do our bathrooms here in the next year or so.

Unfortunately, it ended up being a bigger issue but Thomas's crew came out, identified the underlying cause and got everything fixed. They worked hard to fix the issue quickly and without much disruption to our daily life. Thomas was upfront with us on the work and the cost.

2 years ago I called my insurance company to inquire on how to go about getting the roof inspected…read morefor hail damage. They referred us to Blue Sky Roofing and someone came out promptly, inspected the roof, and efficiently communicated with the insurance company that there wasn't any damage. Really appreciated the prompt and professional service at that time. Recently we noticed a leak in the ceiling of one of the bedrooms and since it was alongside the wall where a shower is located we called a plumber first. $250 later, we were told there wasn't any pipes leaking, however, pictures showed dried water spots and discoloration on the insulation which indicated a possible roof leak. I contacted the company that installed the roof in 2019 (Barker Roofing) and they STILL have yet to respond. Also made an a call to Blue Sky Roofing and Jesse got back with me that evening to schedule time to come out to do a free inspection. He was able to come out even sooner than we were available and was very flexible in getting the appointment scheduled. On the day of the appointment, Jesse arrived on time and took a look at where the ceiling where the leak occurred. He then proceeded to go to the roof and said that hopefully it is something he could repair the same day without a fee. That is exactly what he did! He took pictures of the location where he found a staple that should not have been there and he rubber cemented it saying it should last for the life of the roof. He was proactive in taking a look at some other areas where sealant should not have been showing any wear for such a new-ish roof. He rubber cemented those as well at no charge. Jesse was knowledgable and we appreciated his "neighborly" attitude of helping to fix something small that could have turned into something big. And most importantly doing honest business and fixing another company's negligence. When it does come time to replace our roof, the first and last call we'll make is Blue Sky Roofing!

Blue Sky Roofing delivered excellent service and higher-quality roofing materials at a better price…read morethan several other roofing companies we explored both through our insurance carrier and our own independent research. The installers were a team made up largely consisting of brothers and their close friends / family. They worked beautifully and happily together, showing up each morning at 7 a.m. and leaving when it became too dark. They worked without ceasing except for a short lunch break together. I appreciated their attention to safety and observed they always wore harnesses. Our yard, HVAC and delicate plants and trees were protected by tarps and temporary wooden "shelters" prior to commencement of work. Their heavy equipment and trailers were based upon heavy tires (not metal points that destroy driveways). Cleanup afterward was very thorough and attention was also given to the side yards of our neighbors. The sales representative, Blake Andrews, was present frequently throughout the procedure, climbing the roof, walking around, taking pictures and communicating with us about progress each day. The roofing crew obviously like and trust him. I could not be more pleased with this excellent company, their conscientious workers and professional behavior before, during and after this event. Highest recommendation.

Dustin and his crew at Marks Builders renovated my house last year. In short, they did a fantastic…read morejob, were honest, upfront, left things clean, and were there from start to finish without any notable delays. I have recommended Marks Builders to many of my family and friends, and they've all had great things to say too.  Read on if you want the whole story! I had a leak in a wall between two bathrooms, above the kitchen.  Just to set the scene, my wife was pregnant and we had a baby due 3 weeks after the start of the construction.  My kitchen had a dropped ceiling and was original to the 1970s house.  Dustin worked with State Farm (my insurance carrier) to bring the adjuster's repair estimate up to a par. He and his team worked with us to order cabinets early (we were getting custom cabinets so they had a long lead time), then they gutted the kitchen and bathroom, raising the ceiling to 8' (reworking the HVAC, plumbing, and electrical lines in the process).  They pulled up all of the tile in the downstairs while we were out of the house (and in the hospital having the baby).  We asked for a few days at home without construction when we came home, to which they agreed. They worked hard to make sure that the house was ready for cabinets when they would be delivered. The cabinets were delivered without issue and installed the same week, with the trim taking longer than any other single step because they wanted it to look just right - and it paid off! The finishing touches make all the difference! The granite crew came in and did their thing. Like all of Dustin's sub-contractors, they were on time, professional, and courteous. They did their work well, quickly, and cleanly. We opted for granite counters and granite backsplashes, with different edge finishes in different places, corners, etc. to work around. They did it all well. Our kitchen looks fantastic, even a year and a half later. Through the whole 2-month process, Dustin's crew was on-site 4-6 days/week, except when we asked for the break. We made a lot of changes midway through, and Dustin didn't nickel and dime on the little things (moving an outlet, changing from a 2 gang to a 4 gang plug, etc). He was happy to work with my attention to detail (which can frustrate most people I know) and he did it with a smile - his attention to detail was similar. His crew was always fun to have around, and I never once worried about them being in the home, whether I was there or not. They worked hard to make sure we felt safe with them in the house at the start of Covid. All said, I strongly recommend Marks Builders. They're honest, smart, hard-working, and fun people who care about the work they produce and their customers' experience.
