My elderly cat passed away in early May and the kindness, respect and compassion shown by everyone here truly made an impact on me. Dr. Brittany never rushed me and patiently answered all of my questions in a practical and informative manner. Sadly, our dog has been battling terminal cancer and we are thankful to have been able to transfer her care from Wheatridge in Denver to Dr. Justin in Silverthorne, where they provide the same chemotherapy treatment in an environment that she is familiar with. I had one of the most traumatic experiences of my life at this clinic. I was told that I had only two options: euthanize my dog immediately or they would call animal control. I was not given meaningful time, alternatives, or the chance to seek a second opinion. I felt pressured, cornered, and emotionally coerced into making an irreversible decision under duress. No pet owner should ever be forced into a decision like this through threats. Regardless of medical circumstances, compassion, communication, and respect are critical in moments like these--and that was completely lacking here. I would strongly caution others to think carefully before trusting this clinic with a loved pet, especially in a crisis. read more

Justin, along with his entire staff, were devoted to the care of our dog who required emergency surgery for stomach bloat. My husband and I were just traveling through Silverthorne on our way back to Ohio. when we noticed our dog's distress. We frantically tried to find a nearby vet, and through a miracle found SilverThorne Vet Hospital. Justin, DVM, and his team didn't hesitate to work through the evening to repair a number of life threatening issues from the bloat. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this clinic and staff to anyone - in or out of the area. While the experience of such a life threatening emergency was a shock, we were given the info we needed to make our decision to move fwd with surgery. Update on my previous comments. Kudos to Dr. J for reading his own reviews and reaching out. We do feel that our animals were properly treated. That's all the praise I have. To be clear, I was not present at the incident referenced, but I have no reason to doubt my wife's telling of events. She is normally a very affable person, but she was very upset by the experience. I found his voice message and text to me to be blaming and not constructive. We are viewed as the problem, so I see no point in calling him back. Rather than belabor the point, I would refer to Kristine's post from 11/14/23. I'm sure my wife and I (and I hope Dr.J) are best served and happier that we look elsewhere to take our animals. read more

I talked to Justin yesterday and would double down on not bringing a pet here. We for sure will never be back. He was extremely rude and what I can only describe as combative and then blamed me for making him late to his next appointment, even though he left me a voicemail asking for me to call him. Justin says I scheduled a blood and urine test appointment when they called me. I made no such appointment, so I am curious as to why that would be in their records or why he is stating I made an appointment when they called. I made an appointment the morning of and it was because I noticed blood in my dogs urine. I had in no way consented to my dog's blood being drawn nor was I obligated to have them do the blood testing because they suggested it at an earlier appointment. Justin harped on me for being late to the appointment, which I had stated (when I called to make the appointment) was likely since we were coming from Leadville and was told it wasn't a problem. Justin had many excuses, but stated the reason we were likely not fully informed at our appointment and why they likely took blood without our consent was because they were rushing through the appointment because they had to focus on people who "actually show up on time." I am confused as to why he is trying to tell me what happened and what conversations were had that day as I did not interact with or see him at all on our second visit. I tried to explain to him things that had happened and what was said to us, but he kept telling me what was communicated to me on numerous occasions in conversations he was not present for. He told me it was a while ago so I probably didn't remember, yet he could somehow recall conversations he was not a part of. Justin said that drawing blood without consent is a common practice and he would not change his policies for one upset customer. He said they only drew her blood, it's not like they "cut off her ear." As to his comment of declining a culture, the way it was presented to us was that were two different options, a smaller less extensive one and a larger more extensive one that could be needed should the initial meds not take care of the issue. Both were presented as options (pick one or the other), we chose the smaller one as we had never had an issue clearing up a bladder infection in the past. To be clear, we have no problem that a culture was done on our second visit. I am not sure what the intention of the phone call was. There was no attempt to listen or understand what happened, only telling me I was wrong, even though he was not present for a lot of the communication or for the second visit. This phone call has now made a bad experience one that can no longer be recovered. read more

In the wee hours of the morning, our golden retriever, Faye frantically woke us, and when taken outside, we saw more than just a little blood! After calling 2 other "after hours" veterinarians, we literally woke Dr Justin up. He immediately told us to meet he and his assistant at the clinic, where he calmed all of us down, took x-rays and came up with a perfect plan for our girl, while avoiding surgery for the bone chip he discovered in her stomach. He could have easily taken Faye into surgery, which we would've immediately agreed to under the circumstances, but he instead treated her in the least invasive way possible. We have lived in breckenridge for two years and love summit county. My only compliant is with veterinary care. One of my fears came to life on a late sat afternoon when my pup was acting lethargic. I called my local vet as an emergency to have her checked out and was surprisingly told we have no appointments for a week! Seriously? A week my dog is lifeless and shots or non emergency pets come before mine?????? I started to panic and called every clinic and to my surprise nobody would see her! my last call was silverthorne clinic and they said without hesitation to come in. they were loving, compassionate and understanding. A bloat case came in at the same time and managed us both. What a job they have between finding out my dog had cancer with tumor making it hard for her to breathe and the bloat case pup passing away, with loving hearts and sympathy they held it together. I am a client for life! Everyone and I mean everyone that works there are angels! So grateful. Between weekly visits to a Denver oncologists , bloodwork at clinic and weekly check ins I am beyond grateful for meeting our pups angels! Thanks thanks thanks no words!!!!!!!!!!!!! Our only prayer now is after hours in this county it is awfully stressful to have to drive to Denver after hours with our weather and a sick pup. I called on Friday morning because one on my guinea pigs had stopped eating and drinking. They fit me into their schedule at 10:30 the same morning. They took x-rays and found what was believed to have been a blockage. Poor Rango was 4 years old and in so much pain, I decided it best to euthanize him. While I have spent more here than I anticipated on my little ladies recently (no fault of the vet!), I couldn't be more grateful for Justin and Alex and the care they've given my dogs since we moved to Silverthorne 6 months ago. We knew when we moved here that we would need regular visits and tests for my dog who has an auto immune disease, but I had no idea that both of my dogs would be putting us through the ringer last fall with issue after issue after issue, requiring numerous visits, some afterhours and some where I was already at the vet waiting for them to open at 8am. Justin and Alex always eased my mind and have taken such good care of my girls, and always fit me in when needed and call after appointments to follow up on how my dogs are doing. When your pets are your babies, it's priceless. I feel like they don't overreact even when sometimes I am, or overtreat them. For example, they cleaned my dogs' teeth and had expected to do an extraction but ended up not needing to. They always give me options and let me decide the route I want to go. I have never felt pressured or rushed. I really didn't expect to be such a regular, but the office is clean, modern and comfy too. Hopefully I'm here a little bit less often in 2018, but I SO appreciate these guys! read more

I will begin by saying I have never been compelled to write a review until now. While visiting Frisco, our German Shepherd was suddenly unable to stand or walk and refused to eat or drink. In an area new to us, we did not know who to turn to for assistance. Fortunately, we found Silverthorne Veterinary Hospital and Dr. Justin. I called the office as soon as they opened and was told to bring Maddy in right away. Dr. Justin took his time with Maddy and performed a very thorough exam. Not only did Dr. Justin find what Maddy's regular vet failed to diagnose, he called us regularly to ask how Maddy was doing. Dr. Justin continued to follow up even after we returned Indiana. Our beloved Golden Retriever, Duke, during a routine exam, by another vet, was diagnosed with a tumor in his belly. I was told to take him to Denver for emergency surgery. Luckily, a week before we heard from a friend that we have a wonderful animal hospital in Summit County run by Dr. Justin Milizio, Alex and Desirae. Justin immediately scheduled surgery and removed the five pound tumor on his spleen. His knowledge and experience encouraged us that the tumor was most likely benign, which it was! Justin was in great communication with us during the surgery, recovery and rehabilitation at home. The care was above and beyond! Luna is very lucky to have Dr. Milizio as her vet, and we are so glad that he has his own practice now that is a little closer to where we live! Before finding Dr. Milizio we were never completely satisfied with any vet we took our pup to. Dr. Milizio's knowledge base is immense and care is top of the line. After just one visit with Dr. Justin I can easily say he is the best vet I've ever met. My husband and I were in Colorado on vacation in August when our dog began limping. We were able to book an appointment right away, and Dr. Justin was so sweet with her, he not only checked out her limp, he performed a full-body checkup and ended up finding a mass on her gums as well. He immediately biopsied the mass and suggested we also do bloodwork to make sure her organs are functioning properly since she is 10 years old, something no other vet had ever mentioned. He was so caring and thorough, telling us exactly what was going on with her, making sure he didn't miss any opportunity to improve her health. He gave us Adquan shots and Rimadyl for her limp, and just called to check in and see how she's doing... four weeks later. We are not even his regular clients and do not live in Colorado. This is better care than we receive from our local vet. Can't say enough about Dr. Justin and this practice. We only wish we lived in CO so he could be our full-time vet. read more

Dr. Young and Alex are life savers. We had just landed in Colorado for a wedding and pulled over to let our pup pee. She ran through some tall grass and we heard a loud whimper. It was clear something was in her ear. They picked up the phone immediately, and scheduled us for an appointment an hour later. We arrived early, and instead of telling us and our dog who was in excruciating pain to wait an hour for the scheduled appointment time, Dr.Young gave up his lunch hour. Dr.Young and Alex got Millie sedated and her ear cleaned (extracted the sharp grass seed threatening to rupture her ear drum) in less than 45 minutes. We trust them implicitly and are forever grateful. Also, we were expecting a $1,000 bill considering it was an emergency visit, and it was less than half of that number. Honestly, they're better than the vet we have in our home city. We wish we could become full time patients. read more

While other vets can rush you through and not take the time to explain to you what symptoms may mean and why they are arriving at their diagnosis, dr Justin spent a good deal of time explaining symptoms and potential areas of concern to me. We just had our first visit with Dr. Justin after making the hard decision to leave the vet our dog had been going to since he was a puppy. We just weren't getting the customer service/care anymore we expected at our former vet. From the initial phone call with Hillary, I knew we were onto something good. She was so nice and I swear it was like I could hear her smiling through the phone. At the visit the vet tech Ally was just as welcoming and was so gentle and kind to our nervous/anxious little guy. Dr. Justin was also a breath of fresh air. He got down and sat on the floor with our dog to make him more comfortable. He was very thorough and explained EVERYTHING. He performed a procedure that took a couple of minutes on our dog that our former vet said could not be done without sedation($$) and another visit(more $$). Dr. Justin got it done without sedation and read the results to us within minutes. At the end of the visit Dr. Justin gave us a "report card" explaining everything that was done and talked about at the visit. That was a huge selling factor to us that we left feeling that we knew everything we needed, got ALL of our questions answered and felt confident our pupper was taken care of. read more
