    Garlic Truffle

Garlic Truffle Goodness with a Side of "Service Could Be Better" Finally tried Silverlake Ramen SD and their Garlic Truffle Ramen -- and let me just say, this bowl is a whole vibe. The broth? Creamy, garlicky, and rich with truffle butter that took it to another level. Bonus points for offering chicken instead of pork -- I don't eat pork for health reasons, so it was refreshing to find a ramen spot with solid alternatives. Toppings were on point: tender grilled chicken, fresh kale, a jammy marinated egg, chewy noodles, and a crisp sheet of nori floating on top like a flavor flag. The truffle butter swirl? Chef's kiss. Why 4 stars? The service was a little meh. I ordered hot green tea, had to ask for sugar, and no spoon -- ended up stirring it with my chopsticks. Also noticed other tables got check-ins during their meal... I didn't get one until I flagged someone down for the bill. ‍ Pro Tip: If you want pork-free ramen packed with flavor, this one's a winner. Just hope you catch them on a better service day.

Not bad. Had the blaze and it was spicy. One of the better ramen at UTC . Will definitely have it again.

Another great visit at Silverlake. Had the Classic Ramen, with pork, and it tasted great. Had it with the Chicken Karaage, which I enjoyed as well. Had a good taste to it. Also ordered the Crispy Rice with Spicy Tuna appetizer, which was previously recommended to me, and I enjoyed that as well. Will return.

I came to Silver Lake Ramen because Ramen Nagi was closed, and I'd heard good things from others. We opted for the combo, which includes an appetizer and ramen for $20--a great deal! For appetizers, we tried the gyozas and chicken karaage. Both were delicious, and I particularly loved how the karaage was perfectly crispy. For the ramen, we went with the Medium Blaze with pork. The pork was crispy and flavorful, which I really enjoyed. That said, we didn't quite love the ramen overall. While it wasn't bad, it didn't quite live up to the hype for us. It wasn't as flavorful as some of the other ramen spots we frequent, and I didn't taste any spice in the broth despite it being advertised as spicy. The noodles were decent but nothing to write home about. I'd recommend Silver Lake Ramen to anyone just getting into ramen or looking for a more approachable option, but for us, it's not a place we feel the need to revisit. That said, the service was great--everyone was friendly and attentive--and we didn't have to wait long for our food. Plus, there's plenty of seating indoors, which is a bonus!

This was my first time here. The place is very clean and I like the asthetic. For apps, we ordered the gyoza abs that was very fresh and tasty. My boss and I ordered the regular size pork bowl with jalapeño. It was so good and the jalapeño had the right amount of heat. My boss also ordered a coke but he never received it. My coworker ordered the Blaze ramen mills and she finished the whole thing. We were stuffed by the end of our meal! I would come back but the game name isn't something I would remember. I'm very happy I now know that this place exists and where to park.

Located inside UTC mall. Fast service, our food came out within 10 minutes after placing the order. Our host was pretty friendly and nice. Staff were quick with bringing over the food & our side requests. Noise level here was pretty loud, music in the background and customers chatting. Clean restaurant. It was busy when we arrived; plenty of tables and seats. We ordered the combo $19 for ramen and an appetizer. We both went with the Blaze spicy Tonkotsu, fried dumplings and spicy chicken karaage. Our food was pretty good! Ramen was a 8 out of 10, karaage was my favorite! It was crispy and had great flavor.

At the entrance of the food court in UTC, my friend and I each ordered a Combos$20.5, which included one ramen and one appetizer--a pretty good value. The ramen I chose was shoyu on fire. It didn't taste like traditional Japanese ramen, more like regular noodle, but the broth was very creamy, and I really enjoyed the flavor. For the appetizer, we had fried chicken and pan-fried dumplings, which were nothing special.

After arriving at Westfield University Town Center in San Diego on an early Saturday evening, we had to pick a place to eat at. There were many choices to choose from. My brother found Silverlake Ramen. How did he know I was thinking of the same spot? Good picking Brother... thank you for the early evening dinner treat! It wasn't too busy at the time we first got here, but sure enough, a stampede of people came in after us. My girls always says Mommy attracts business LOL. We were a party of 7 and there was an empty table waiting just for us right up front. I have been to the Silverlake Ramen at Chino Hills a couple times and I liked their ramen. I was more impressed with this Silverlake Ramen's ramen than the other one. I got the combo with the Blaze Ramen mild spice and their handmade fried gyoza for one great price. OMG... the pork belly was tender moist mouth watering from entry down to the tummy LOL. It was just deliciously delicious! Gyozas were crispy on the outside and flavorful on the inside. Yummy! My daughters got the combo, too, ramen, but with different appetizers such as chicken karaage and pork bun. This was my brother and his family's first time at Silverlake Ramen. They loved it, too. Staff was super friendly and attentive. Service was good with the exception of one chicken karaage that took longer than the other chicken karaage. Prices were reasonable. Ambiance was inviting and comfortable. All in all, a wonderful and delicious experience. Kid you not, just thinking about the pork belly, I want to go back now and get some more of their amazing foods! You ready? I'll see you here LOL.

Started raining while we were shopping so decided to try Silverlake ramen to warm up & it was the best decision!!! The service was friendly & incredibly quick. We sat at the bar which was sleek & inside was lively but not too loud. We ordered and got our food within 15 minutes! Ramen was delicious & the appetizers were fresh & delicious, especially the karaage. Can't wait to come back next time I'm at UTC!

Came here for a quick lunch - they have a lunch special which comes with a ramen of your choice and an appetizer. I went for the Shoyu on fire with chicken karaage The portions were perfect, enough to make me comfortably full. Service was quick and the restaurant is clean and spacious. The only reason for 1 star off this review would be the ramen broth, it was more on the oily and salty side.

About a year ago, some friends want to try the food out here and I was pleasantly surprised to see how much it had improved! So imagine my surprise where I came in this evening and was completely floored with how abysmal it has somehow become again with only the last few months. The service has been insultingly, rude; we had a talk with our server and even pass along a compliment, it was shocked with how unkindly they responded. Every single item of the menu has been absolutely terrible; the sushi was a quarter of the size it usually is and tastes terrible, the edamame is cold and feels like it was scraped off the floor, and the karaage chicken is now covered in a glaze that is making our stomachs absolutely sick. And the food is even more expensive than it was before! I absolutely do not want to pay for any of this and it makes me sick to my stomach to have wasted our time here this evening.

I got the shoyu ramen, chashu rice, and a cold oolong tea. The ramen was fine in texture and al dente. The broth was flavorful, without being oversalted. It is a really cute place, feels authentically Japanese inside, but also authentically small, so I recommend reservations for a larger group: we were a party of 7 on a Saturday evening around 5:30 with no reservation and we had a wait of around 40 minutes. That said, the waitress we had was very kind and attentive, and the food was decent, so we decided to give the place another try. After a long day at Legoland, we returned around 6pm and I had called ahead to make a reservation for four. The person on the phone took my name and number, so I assumed we were all set. When we arrived, the restaurant wasn't even full, but no one greeted us for several minutes. Eventually, a waiter came over, and when I mentioned our reservation, he seemed confused and said they don't take reservations for parties under six. I tried to explain that someone had taken my information over the phone, but he interrupted me multiple times and didn't let me finish. He then walked over to another group behind us and asked if they were there first, even though we had arrived before them, which was frustrating. We were eventually told there was space available at the bar seating (bar stools) instead of a table. At that point, we were tired and hungry, so we accepted. Unfortunately, the service didn't improve. The waiter seemed rushed and disorganized--he couldn't remember our order and had to ask us which dish belonged to who when the food came out. As for the food, it was okay but not memorable. My ramen was just average--the pork was dry and the egg was overcooked. Overall, the food is decent, but the service really needs improvement. This particular waiter clearly needs more training, or possibly a different role, as the level of service did not meet basic expectations for a restaurant. Our second visit left a bad impression, especially since it was our last night in San Diego. Sadly, we won't be coming back.

When we visited San Diego back in 2016, we ate at Underbelly twice because it was just that good. Returning this trip felt a little like revisiting an old friend. And I'm happy to report... it was every bit as awesome as we remembered! The best part? The staff affectionately called us "O.G.'s" when they heard we had been longtime fans, which immediately made us feel welcome & set the tone for a fun dining experience. We started with the kimchi because some traditions simply should not be broken. Tangy, punchy, spicy & full of flavor, it was the perfect opening act before the ramen arrived. I opted for the Tonkotsu Ramen: rich tonkotsu broth, soft boiled egg & chashu pork. The broth was deeply savory & comforting, the pork tender & flavorful, that perfectly soft egg tied everything together beautifully. It was exactly what ramen dreams are made of. Hubby went with the Underbelly Ramen, extra spicy: tonkotsu broth, soft boiled egg, chashu belly & adobo pulled pork. The extra spice brought serious heat & he was thrilled with every fiery bite! There is something incredibly satisfying about returning to a restaurant years later & finding that the magic is still there. Underbelly delivered the same bold flavors, cozy ramen comfort & cool Little Italy energy that made us fall in love with it the first time around.
