Pork Bowl
Shirley C.

Stopped by for lunch on a Wednesday afternoon and were seated right away. The space is fairly large with plenty of seating. We ordered the crispy rice with spicy tuna, the pork bowl, and the classic ramen combo with karaage. Overall, everything was pretty average. The ramen broth was lacking flavor, but the pork in the bowl was tender and well coated in sauce. The crispy rice with spicy tuna was the highlight of the meal.

Landed, got to the hotel, and had to find something comforting. Came here around 12pm and was seated immediately. We got the pot belly bowl and the ramen combo with the classic and karaage. Good came pretty quickly. The ramen was pretty decent but the broth was a bit bland. The pork it came with was juicy, tender and thick so don't let it being one piece throw you off. The ramen was also perfectly al dente. The pork bowl was extremely comforting after a long day. It was juicy and tender, and generous amount of sauce in it to go with the rice. I devoured this bowl quickly.

Silverlake Ramen is located on the back side of the mall. It's easiest to park in parking lot B. They have been thru a few changes since first opening. There used to be chili paste on the table, then you had to pay for a spice ball of chili; now you can order a spicy ramen. They also now have combo meals a ramen and an appetizer for $20.50. Which is quite the deal. This time I got the shoyu on fire with pork cha shu and Karaage combo. The noodles were the straight Tokyo type, I prefer the curly type, but it was still nicely al dente. The broth had a good spice to it, the pork cha shu was very tender. It came with corn and half of a soft boiled egg. It was good but I think I prefer the tonkotsu broth. The Karaage was crispy and flavorful it's came with a dipping sauce but it was not necessary. It was a good portion for the combo and the perfect amount. The decor is new and modern. There's a yelp check in tablet out front which makes it easy since they text you when your table is ready. It's bigger than your typical ramen place and can usually find parking easily but the parking lot was crowded because it's around Christmas time and the mall is busy.

Really good service here - the wait staff is stellar. They took the time to explain the menu. The whole slurp away thing. Really good lunch specials - it's a little pricey - but this is Fashion Valley - rent be high. Recommend the Gyoza with that spicy mayo - that was tasty. The ramen is very good - good portions. And you get to slurp like a maniac - which is amusing in a crowd of slurpers.....

Been a minute since we have eaten at Silverlake Ramen. Ordered the Ramen Combo - Tonkotsu Ramen with grilled chicken and a side of gyoza (4 pieces). We also ordered a side of edamame. Washed it down with a cold glass of Sapporo. The Ramen was perfect in its miso soup. The Thousands Island-Aioli sauce (that's what it tasted like) had a nice lil kick for the gyoza. Edamame was a good starter as usual. Service was okay. Domo arigato gozare masu.

I've been going to Silverlake for a few years now, but I had never tried this location. I usually visit the one in Oxnard when I'm up there with family. It's always been a must stop spot for me. This time around, I went with their ramen + appetizer combo and ordered my usual Shoyu on Fire along with the chicken karaage. I didn't realize you could swap proteins, so I tried it with pork this time, and it wasn't bad. You really can't go wrong with Silverlake. It continues to be one of my top ramen spots, no matter which location I visit.

Came here after shopping and it was good! No wait to get in. Ordered and the food came out less than 10 min later. Really good flavors. I liked the garlic oil on the classics ramen. Service was great.

Fried Gyoza 6 pieces . Served with 2 Sauces and Sprite Soft Drink.

This is my first time dining inside the Silver Lake Ramen Restaurant. I placed my order with one of the servers at the Silver Lake Ramen Restaurant. I preferred the 6 pieces of Fred Gyoza filled with shredded pork. It's served with two mild sauces. The first sauce is an orange spicy sauce and the second one is a spicy creme sauce. The appetizer price was $7.50. For my dessert, I ordered one scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream with Chocolate Sauce. My soft drink was one can of Sprite. Everything I had eaten was very crispy and very delicious. My server was very attentive towards me. I will definitely come in here again to dine inside Silver lake Ramen Restaurant. Their appetizers are really delicious.

SILVERLAKE RAMEN @ FASHION VALLEY This place has always been a spot that i've always wanted to try. I'm a huge ramen person and love to always try new locations. My friends and I came on a Tuesday, line wasn't long, tables were available, yet we had to wait outside for about 20 minutes. We finally got seated and looked through the menu. I ended up getting their classic ramen for about $19, that was a pricey one! The food came out about 15 minutes later. Seaweed soggy, pound of green onion covering the bowl, half an egg, and the small sliver of thin pork. Noodles were as soggy as if they were sitting in the bowl for hours. Truly the only thing I liked in this bowl was the broth and the black oil, it was decent and flavouring. Ambiance was loud but very bright inside. Parking was free in the lots. Overall, I would not come back to this place, it was just overly soggy, horrible and cheap quality toppings.

Service was great and quick. Went during lunch time and enjoyed their combos. Blaze was spicy but not overpowering spicy. Enjoyed the toppings that came with a ramen and was a good portion. I appreciated ramen was offered with different protein options. Would go again and try another flavor.

This is what it looked like . In able to eat will be letting them know tomorrow. I would not serve this to anyone.

Food !! I was feeling like ramen today in the way home and didn't want to cook it . This place had a little crowd so I decided to try it . Ordered 2 combo plates. The spicy one was ok , but the classic combo was Horrible horrible !! My husband could not get passed the smell of the broth. It smelled scorched and burnt . Will be taking back there .

Place is great. The service made the place as they accommodated us with a large party. We had to wait a little bit but they updated us a lot. The food looked tasty and everyone enjoyed the food they ordered. I had the curry and it didn't taste like regular Japanese curry but little more soy saucy. The place was real modern and nice to be in. The bathroom was so far in the back was kind of like a maze. Good place to go and was busy when we came on Black Friday.

Solid Ramen spot when you're in the mood for ramen and at the fashion valley mall. Karaage was solid and the ramen was decent. Broth was flavorful. We got here when it was slower and the server was attentive. Got the Blaze and Garlic Truff ramen

Honestly hard to find a place with so many choices and very reasonable pricing. My most recent visit I saw that the menu was changed completely and that they were serving tori paitan. I never had it before so I had to try it and it was delicious! You still get a very similar mouth feel of a creamy tonkotsu ramen, but it just doesn't sit as heavy. I think scrapping a menu that they've had for years is a bold move, but I see the vision. They're bringing a different style of ramen that you won't really find anywhere else here in San Diego. Would highly recommend being open minded and giving it a shot. Also would recommend ordering it with hard thin noodles. Workers are also always very friendly and knowledgeable about the sake so definitely ask for a recommendation to pair with your food.

RakiRaki has been a regular stop for me when I'm in San Diego, and while the ramen is excellent and…read morethey offer some very good sushi rolls, I have to start with the real reason I keep coming back: their karaage chicken! This is hands down my favorite karaage chicken anywhere. Crispy and beautifully seasoned on the outside, juicy on the inside, and dangerously easy to keep eating long after you know you've had enough. In fact, whenever I eat here, I almost always order an extra karaage to go specifically to take back to my hotel and enjoy a day or two later. That probably says more than anything else I could write about it! There's also a pretty interesting story behind RakiRaki. Owner and executive chef Junya Watanabe was born in Tokyo and eventually spent about 20 years in the fashion industry before changing directions and pursuing ramen. He traveled back to Japan to learn the craft and trained under respected Japanese ramen chefs before opening the original RakiRaki right here on Convoy Street in 2012. It turned out to be a pretty good decision! RakiRaki became one of the restaurants associated with a newer generation of businesses that helped transform Convoy into the incredible Asian dining destination it is today. Watanabe subsequently expanded into other locations and Japanese food concepts, including ventures focused on vegan Japanese cuisine, sushi, and, appropriately enough considering my obsession with it, Japanese karaage. The ramen here is also excellent and absolutely worth coming for. They offer everything from tonkotsu and chicken ramen to tsukemen, along with some seriously flavorful specialty bowls. If ramen isn't what you're after, their sushi rolls are another good option, and the presentation can be really impressive. This location is in the Convoy Street area, so parking can be an adventure. The restaurant sits in a very busy center with several other restaurants all competing for the same limited number of spaces. Give yourself a little extra time, especially during peak dining hours. Service has always been pleasant, although I don't think it's quite as good as what I remember from their former Little Italy location on India Street. Nothing bad by any means, just not quite the same level of attentiveness and overall experience I remember from that location. Still, the food keeps me coming back. Great ramen, beautifully presented sushi, an interesting San Diego success story, and karaage chicken that I literally order twice during the same meal just so I can have it again later. A solid four stars and definitely worth a stop when you're eating your way through Convoy. Just be prepared to hunt for parking!

It hurts to say it was mid. The rice bowl was okay but the chicken didnt have too much flavor and i feel like the rice to chicken ration was a little off. For the rakiraki roll, there was just too much rice. When you look at the rolls sure theyre big but its mainly rice. I think for the price, you could go somewhere else for better rolls. The other one had too much cream cheese too. All i tasted was rice and cream cheese. The staff were very friendly and attentive though. We didnt notice that we had dropped something on the floor and one of them picked it up for us. The restaurant itself is nice but as introverts, the two seater tables are very close to each other. Its fine though I understand the need to maximize space. Overall I would come back for their ramen but I probably wont get the rolls or rice bowl again.

I've been to Ramen Nagi a handful of times, and it's one of those places I know I can count on when I'm craving a really satisfying bowl of ramen. In facts, its probably my favorite ramen spot ever. First, the must-order for me is the potstickers. They come connected, so you literally get to break them apart yourself. It sounds like a small thing, but it's actually pretty fun, and the potstickers themselves are delicious. Crispy on the bottom, juicy inside and perfect for dipping. But the ramen is really where Ramen Nagi shines. I love how customizable it is. You can choose your broth, richness, noodle texture, spice level and all the little additions, so you can really build the bowl exactly how you want it. I usually like having the ability to control the richness and spice because sometimes I want something comforting and rich, and other times I want something a little lighter. You can also control how chewy you want the noodles to be. The noodles have a great texture and the broth is flavorful without needing a ton of extra toppings to make it interesting. There is also plenty of variety, so you can come back and try something different each time. I also appreciate that the portions are filling without feeling like you're just getting a giant bowl of noodles. Don't leave without ordering the potstickers. And definitely take advantage of all the ramen customization options.
