Even if you have only 10 minutes before the gate closes, you cannot miss out on Sydney's Silver Kris lounge if you have the proper access. All I have to compare to at SYD is the Air New Zealand lounge, which is like a McDonalds compared to this place. Just like their lounges in San Francisco, Amsterdam, or Singapore, this one exemplifies excellence in the pre-flight experience.
Upon entrance, you are greeted by fresh flowers, a beautiful model of Singapore's A380, and warm, friendly staff. Once inside, you may find it a bit crowded, but there's still plenty of space to sit. It's a welcoming environment with plenty of window space for aviation enthusiasts to get a glimpse of the ramp.
What really stands out here and what I think is the most vital part of a lounge is their food selection. In the morning, you'll find a plethora of mini sandwiches, unique breakfast creations, yogurt, desserts, and fresh fruit. In the afternoon, you'll be greeted with warm lunch-time snacks such as a vast selection of dim sum. Almost everything they offer tastes fresh, wonderfully prepared, and makes me oh so happy to escape the torture of Air New Zealand lounge's excuse for food.
You'll also find a good selection of liquor, champagne, Australia and international beer and wine, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and juices. Pretty much anything you can think of that's widely available with a few unique items, such as Tasmanian beer.
Upon exit, you'll be warmly escorted out by the famous Singapore girl. It's the almost perfect way to end your experience here. I say almost because perfection would be achieved if she wasn't a cardboard figure. read more
