Over the 36 years we have lived in Napa, Silverado Vet Hospital has provided the best care for our many animals. Our dogs, cats and hens have all received caring, compassionate treatment. The staff is so kind when it's been time to put our beloved pets to rest. I have complete confidence that any of the vets at Silverado will provide a correct diagnosis and treatment plan.

First time here as well as first time going to a non emergency vet! Had to bring my bunny rabbit Tiny in due to fleas and scratching a lot. Everyone was such a pleasure to meet, absolutely wonderful and loving atmosphere and you can tell everyone who works here has a big heart -- for a first time vet visit to a (going to make my) regular vet I'd like to bring my girl back to I didn't feel nervous or worried at all! From the moment you walk in you feel well looked after and they make sure you and your lovely fluffy family member are doing well! My little one was treated with such love and care and all her needs were addressed-- thank you to the wonderful people working here for making our first time here a wonderful visit

Doctor Hess killed my Rottweiler because of his greed of money. Do not trust him with you pet Dr Hess wanted one last grasp of making a big payday at the expense of my beloved 11 year old family member "Buster". Not many more chances to do so with an 11year old dog I trusted Dr. Hess. It never ever crossed my mind that his love and greed for money would cost my heathy dog his life because of it. I loved Buster. I got him when he was just 12 weeks old. The kindest dog I ever owned. A 120lbs teddy bear who trusted me with his everything. A family member and when he died I mourned like anyone would for the lost of their mom or dad or brother or sister. Buster was Family. What compounded my pain was that I trusted Dr Hess and I foolheartly trusted anything that he told me. He was the Doctor. Thinking naturally that he would have his professional code of ethics guiding him but they were jeopardized by his greed of money. I brought Buster in to see Dr Hess for a checkup. Buster was fine, happy, healthy, it was just a routine check up. Buster was aging and had a little arthritis as all dogs do his age. He would occasionally drag his rear paw as he ran. Dr Hess suggested we do a Myelogram. I didn't know what it was, I just trusted Dr Hess. Its a horrible evasive procedure where they insert a needle into the dog's spinal cord so they can read it. Read what Dr Hess? What were you going to do? Preform a spinal cord surgery on my perfectly happy healthy Buster. Of course not. As you didn't. You just wanted your share of the thousands of dollars that myelogram procedure cost. I went to pick up buster after the procedure and he had no movement in both of his hind legs ever again. Doctor Hess sent me home with a bunch of different antibiotics. I walked buster in and I had to carrying him out of Silverado ver hospital. Buster never walked again I had him to sleep. While at the hospital Dr Hess in between ignoring me and attempting to impress his young female intern. He showed no empathy towards me and my new plight which he caused. Buster was just another dog to him. The hurt and pain and my guilt for allowing this to happen has never left me years later. Shame on you Dr Hess. You probably are a man of science so you don't believe in a higher power I can promise you, what you did to my heart for trusting you wholeheartedly and what you did to a healthy happy Buster. You will have to answer for to your God if you have one. Waves like this don't go unnoticed in the universe. After all these years I still am heartbroken. And for what? Money. Doctor Hess this is a really slanderous review on you and I welcome you to silence me in a court of law But of course you won't because you know I speak the truth about you and I had the vets in Davis CA scratching there heads on why this evasive procedure was done I hope this helps anyone reading this if you are looking for a veterinarian or vet hospital please skip Silverado Veterinarian hospital and skip Dr Hess Heartboken Mark G

I've had pets all my life. I've never seen a veterinarian with this kind of bedside manner. Dr. Hess is amazing.

We love Silverado! They have been nothing but amazing treating and caring for our three dogs. The doctors are patient and understanding and great at explaining your options. They are not pushy and let you decide what you and your pet is comfortable with.

Lucy at home. Her front left leg will be amputated at the hospital next week.

I had my puppy spayed here in April. As a first-time pet owner whose family had only ever rescued…read moredogs before, I'd never had to deal with a pet getting spayed or neutered; it was always taken care of beforehand. We were very nervous before the surgery, and the quotes from other local vet's offices seemed overpriced. We got on Napa Humane's list and were originally scheduled for July, but they received a cancellation and got us in three months early. This wound up being a blessing because it gave me less time to worry about all the things that could go wrong during the surgery. On the day of the surgery, the receptionist was neither warm nor welcoming, which honestly added to the anxiety I was already feeling. However, the vet was fabulous- she was extremely knowledgeable about dogs in general, my dog's breed, and the many health issues they are prone to and did a wonderful job comforting my dog and me. I left her there feeling confident that the surgery would go swimmingly and that she was in good hands. She was, and it did! Something to note is that they don't provide post-surgical collars, so get one beforehand. We wound up getting a soft, inflatable one for Matilda, which was much easier to deal with than the traditional plastic cone. Napa Humane is committed to helping pet owners be responsible, and spaying and neutering are a big part of that. They offer an income-eligible program to residents of Napa, Lake, and Solano counties whose income level qualifies them for spaying or neutering at a significantly reduced cost. I really appreciate the fact that they do that, even though we did not qualify. I would recommend this clinic to anyone looking to get their pet spayed or neutered. They do a good job.
