I had foot surgery and needed help. She iced my foot, fix lunch, help with my laundry. She took me shopping for items I needed and I got dizzy but she was there in a second and sat me on a box while she got a wheelchair. She took me to doctors appts., pharmacy, labs. When she left the kitchen was clean and neat. She even got my mail. She's wonderful, kind, caring, and neat. Thank you so much. Rachel Randle June 24, 2025

Working with Red Bear Care has been an incredible experience. This organization is truly unlike…read moreanything else in the post-acute space. The leadership, especially the founder, is visionary -- not just trying to improve care, but genuinely rethinking how we serve people throughout their recovery and aging journey. What sets Red Bear Care apart is the commitment to doing what's right for the client, not just what's typical. The team is building a model that includes multiple levels of post-acute care, so each person can receive tailored support that meets them exactly where they are. It's forward-thinking, compassionate, and deeply rooted in making a meaningful difference. As someone who's seen the behind-the-scenes effort, I can say the heart and hustle are real. The culture is collaborative, mission-driven, and filled with people who care deeply about seniors and their quality of life. If you're looking for a place where innovation meets impact -- where the work you do matters -- Red Bear Care is it. I'm so proud to be part of their journey and excited to see the continued ripple effects of the good they're doing in Texas and beyond.

Even after that, it seemed the efforts by staff to get her involved and acclimated to her new living arrangements were minimal. Certainly the COVID lockdown made things difficult for senior living facilities, but we paid extra for bathing assistance for mother, and yet when I would see her I could tell she was wearing the same clothes for days in a row, which meant she wasn't bathing and we even sleeping in the same clothes. Mother was on blood thinners, so it was important to monitor her for potential internal bleeding or at least be aware of any pronounced weakness or paleness. Since I couldn't visit her in person, I had to depend on staff for this. In September she had a fall and then was extremely weak and was sent via ambulance to the ER. She had severe internal bleeding and had to have 4 units of blood transfused. I am amazed that the "nursing" staff at Belmont couldn't have observed this issue sooner. Mother passed away in October, and when we went to clear out her belongings, we discovered that all of her valuable jewelry had been stolen from her room. When we reported this to Belmont, they didn't seem to care much, and pretty much blamed it on us that we let Mother have those things in her room. Nothing that was stolen was ever recovered. So if you send your loved one to Belmont, be sure not to send anything of value with them.

As I live and work in Dallas, many of the details had to be taken care of by phone or email. It was a great comfort to know that they were there to help in any way possible. He is doing much better now, and I attribute a part of this to the Belmont staff. It is a great relief to know that he has all of his meals prepared. (He says the food is usually quite good!) He enjoys the company of other residents and occasionally joins in the community activities they provide. He is provided with transportation to any doctor visits, his laundry is done, and his room is the perfect size for him. Living in a different city, all of these things mean the world to me. The few times that there has been a problem, they get in touch immediately There is no business that hasn't experienced challenges in the past couple of years. The Belmont continues to make improvements and changes for the better and that's what counts. I look forward to my next trip to visit him as they treat family members very well!

We paid the prorated first month's rent and a non-refundable $2,000 "community fee." Within seven days the staff told us they could not provide the level of support she needed and asked us to move her out. We accommodated and moved her out only ten days after arrival. On move-out day I met with Executive Director John Connolly regarding the $2000 community fee. I asked him to refund it since we were there such a short time. He said it "wouldn't be a problem" and said he just needed to discuss with his manager and that he would get back with me. He never did. A week later: I called; he apologized for being "sidetracked but that it wouldn't be an issue to refund the fee, the only reason to keep it, said John, would be if walls had been moved in her unit" and again said he'd get back to me. Another week: I called and left a voicemail. No reply. Finally: I received a brief voicemail rom John stating the fee was non-refundable because "it's in the contract." No courtesy call, no discussion--just a recorded message. To be clear, I spoke with five other senior communities in Houston. Every one of them has a policy refunding community fees when a resident leaves within 90 days for health or suitability reasons. St. Dominic Village stands alone in retaining the entire amount after only ten days of occupancy. I'm shocked, disappointed and frankly quite disturbed by John Connoly's actions. St. Dominic Village markets itself as a Catholic, mission-driven senior community. Yet their actions--accepting a resident they could not serve, then retaining a sizable fee after less than two weeks--feel more like financial exploitation than compassionate care. Contracts cannot foresee every circumstance; ethical leadership should. The refusal even to hold a live conversation before denying a partial refund was, in my view, both unprofessional and unchristian. Bottom line If you are considering St. Dominic Village, ask hard questions about their refund policies and care assessment accuracy. In our experience, a faith-based label did not translate into fair dealing or transparency--only an expensive lesson for our family.

*PLEASE READ ENTIRE REVIEW *…read more As of 2/5/24, I am a former employee of Brightstar Care (Downtown Houston location on Richmond Avenue). This business is very unorganized, unprofessional, and not fair at all! I've given them several chances to get it together. My coworkers and myself (on the 24/7 case that we worked on) had to bring our own toilet paper, gloves, and have had to bring food, drinks, and supplies for our patient on MANY times. I've spent a little over $100 total on different occasions buying food and supplies such as: tooth paste, mouth wash, body wash, deodorant, food, etc.. They knew this, and never reimbursed me. I told the office when things were out and they did absolutely nothing about it, because they knew that two of my coworkers and myself, would stop by the store before work and buy her food. So, that was one less thing they had to worry about. I love what I do; but shouldn't be responsible for providing food or anything else for my patients. I gave Brenda Garza (the Client Care Coordinator) a heads up that I was starting my new job and needed to change my availability to PRN. So, I showed up for my shift 2/5 only to find they sent another lady. I wasted my gas, and also gave up a shift at my other job (thinking that I was already scheduled). I was crystal clear on when I was supposed to start my new job. Brenda sent a lady who literally didn't know any English at all! She had to use the translator app for EVERYTHING she asked me. It was mind blowing. If a person doesn't know English, at least know enough to get by with taking care of a patient. Maybe the employee was a friend of hers who needed more work. So, she decided to take my shift with no notice at all. That's so unprofessional! I know she has her picks of who she wants to send. Brenda has done the same thing to another caregiver in the past. The agency is the worst in every way! Half of the caregivers who work for them are lazy as well. I've voiced my concerns several times and was ignored. I shouldn't have to come on shift to the patient soaking wet, bed pad wet, and the sheets wet. Especially when the patient eliminates very little at a time. That's neglect!! Plain and simple.. I shouldn't have to clean smeared BM off the back of the toilet seat (which the patient does not use at all). A grown woman should know how to wipe herself correctly. Then, sometimes, this one caregiver would leave dirty diapers in the kitchen trash can. I only noticed after she left. There was also a caregiver who relieved me and she brought her husband to her shift to stay there with her. That is a huge HIPPA violation!! To add insult to injury, they came in smelling like ten packs of cigarettes. The last thing I experienced is a caregiver would actually bring her baby and sister with her to her night shift. It is a complete CIRCUS to work for Brightstar (Downtown Houston location). This may seem a bit much to reveal, but I do have proof of everything I've experienced, in case I ever have to use it!! They should be ashamed of themselves!
