The atmosphere is incredible, the staff is always welcoming and respectful, and the prices are super affordable compared to a lot of other places. The music is great, the hours are convenient, and it's a place where people of all ages can have fun comfortably since inappropriate songs are either avoided or censored. What really makes this place special, though, is the community. Everyone is supportive and encouraging, especially if you're trying to learn new tricks or improve your skating. From the workers to the regular skaters, people genuinely make you feel included and respected. Since I started coming here, I've gone from being new to feeling like I'm truly part of the skate community. If you're looking for a fun, friendly, and positive skating environment, Mason Road Skate Center is easily one of the best places around.

The individual assigned as our party host appeared to be extremely young--so young that it was genuinely concerning. Their behavior was rude, dismissive, and entirely unprofessional. Whether this was due to understaffing or lack of proper training, it reflected very poorly on the facility as a whole. My sister spent several hundred dollars for her daughter's birthday celebration, expecting a well-organized and positive experience. Instead, our party was overseen by someone who did not seem mature or qualified enough to be responsible for hosting children's events, let alone interacting with paying customers. Having what appeared to be a literal child working as the party host is not only unprofessional, but it significantly took away from what should have been a special and enjoyable day. This is not the level of service that should accompany the prices you charge. I hope this feedback is taken seriously, as better staffing, training, and professionalism are clearly needed.

They will skate you off that rink so quick!! but they're so good at it & a lovely watch. The DJ was very good as well! Broke a sweat out there & it reminded me that I needed to get back into skating. We visited on 'adult night' expecting a fun, safe place to learn as beginner skaters -- instead, we were treated like we didn't belong from the moment we stepped onto the rink. The man on the microphone repeatedly insisted that beginner skaters move to the center of the floor (away from the wall), which is the exact opposite of every skating norm I've ever known. I'm not trying to crack my head open, for God's sake. Still, we followed the rule -- only to find that getting to the exit when we needed a break was nearly impossible because other skaters refused to let us pass. What made this worse was the overall atmosphere, created not just by regulars who clearly gatekeep the space, but by staff who seemed chummy with them and provided zero guidance or support. Instead of posted rules or any sort of direction, we were "informed" by being publicly called out over the DJ's mic. The humiliation was unnecessary, unprofessional, and downright bizarre. As beginner skaters, all we wanted was a safe, welcoming place to learn. Instead, we were mocked, disregarded, and made to feel like intruders after only five minutes. I genuinely have no respect for grown adults aggressively skating around beginners simply because we aren't familiar faces. If you're new to skating, do yourself a favor and steer clear -- the unspoken rules, lack of signage, and hostile culture make this an awful place to start. As for us, we'll be taking up ice skating instead, because Bear Creek Roller Rink can stay in the early 2000s where it belongs.

How is this place not condemned?…read more The facilities are disgusting and not maintained. The lockers are old and half are broken. I was robbed of 4 quarters because they kept getting stuck in the busted lockers. The staff will not help you get your quarters back. The restrooms are a biohazard. The women's restroom had toilet water overflowing out of one stall and into the two next to it. All of the toilets had unflushed excrement except two, and of these two, only one had a working lock. Also note, you'll have to dry your hands with half working hand dryers from the 90s. The skates are incredibly uncomfortable and unforgiving. Once I got through the first layer of hell, I moved on to free skate. At first I was shocked by the eerie green lighting. Why is the whole rink shrouded with green light? Maybe to hide the disgusting ice? The ice is dirty and extremely slippery -- not ideal for any level of skater. I am a fairly good skater, and I could only comfortably skate 4 rounds before I decided it was just not worth it. The Galleria ice rink is much more well maintained, and free skate time is not limited like SL ice center. Free skate at SL ice center is only available for 2 hours at a time, at varying start times through the week. They do not accept tap to pay, so if you make the mistake of spending your money here, make sure to bring a physical card... but I implore you not to.

Stepping into the rink area, the area is definitely in need of an upgrade, but on the ice that didn't matter to me. I genuinely enjoyed my time here and plan on going back! There are areas of the ice and area surrounding that are unsightly while skating and need to be fixed, but otherwise I had a fabulous experience.
