Came here for a digital perm. I am soo happy with my results! I showed a picture of the curls I want (loose waves). Kang, my stylist, understood right away. Even though we had a language barrier, she made me feel at home by speaking to me before she made any decisions. She also taught me how to blowdry my newly permed hair. Friend recommend to go and we tried bad communication, she didn't know what we want, sold us a hair color for $200 that we can do for $20 ourselves, was done in under 1.5 hrs. She is terrible, a waste of time and money. Also so pushy, keep wanting us to get a trim hair cut as we have long hair and will cost us $75 for the trim at a discount! she is ridiculous to charge all that for what she has to offer. Walk-ins seem to be welcomed if it's during the day before the rush hour. I have straight hair and wanted to try bangs. When I threw that idea to the stylist (there was just one) she bluntly said it was a horrible idea. I didn't take much offense to it since she was being honest and I completely agreed with her. It's hard to get upset too when someone your mom's age is giving you advice. It's Korean manners to nod and agree hehe. Since I have flat straight hair with absolutely no volume, she suggested a digital perm. She wasn't pushy at all, but since I had the rest of he day free I took her suggestion and ran with it! I arrived at the salon around 2PM, left around 5. It was quiet that day so she was able to give me her full attention which I appreciated. This salon definitely has better prices compared to the other ktown salons. I highly recommend here for all your hair purposes; you'll get a great price and service. I don't normally write yelp reviews but I am only writing on behalf of Mr. Kwon. I used to only get my haircut by him at Kim Sun Young hair salon for 8 years +! He unexpectedly stopped working there and was able to find him again just next door at Silver Tree!! He is the best and so courteous, professional, senior experience and I love the way he cuts my hair, I have never had a problem with it. They don't have as big of a staff as KSY but it is worth it to go find Mr. Kwon and Danny (who is also formerly from KSY- I have never had my haircut by him but only heard good things about him)!! Mr. Kwon normally takes an hour to cut and style my hair. Don't expect it to be quick especially if you are in a hurry. He will take his time and make sure it is perfect! read more

I'm going to be completely honest with my review. Overall service was not the best that I've experienced but Kwon, he is the new stylist started last week, was pretty good with my hair. He really took time examine my hair cutting them the way I wanted them to be. Pros: 1. the price is very cheap compared to other salons in K town. It was only $40 for female! 2. Venmo. You can pay with venmo that I thought it was pretty convenient, I didn't have to go get some cash for tip. 3. Stylist Kwon. He is the new guy who started last week, and he came from pretty known salon and you could tell he is skillful and experienced. Cons: 1. Appointment, don't expect to get started on time. If you are in a hurry, don't go here. You will wait at least 30 mins to get started. 2. Very short staffed. There's no one to wash your hair, so your stylist does everythinggg which takes a long time. I would recommend getting your hair done with the new stylist, Kwon. You get what you pay for. This place is cheaper than other Korean hair salons on the same block. However, saving a little bit of money on the perm wasn't worth it at all for me because I've been paying for the bad decision everyday since I went to this place a couple of weeks ago for perm and haircut. When i entered, I was greeted by a pretty korean woman who i presumed would be my stylist. The store itself is clean and bright. The store is decorated modernly. She led me to wash my hair. Leme say it felt amazing. I asked her to save my hair if she could and she told me i was in need for some keratin which i agreed to. She saturated my hair gently and thoroughly. Thumbs up! Before we start, I have the most disastrous wavy hair that needs to be straightened every 6 months. Last year, for some reason, I couldn't get my regular straightening, so I left my messy hair untouched for over a year. I was even sorry for the stylist because my hair was so horrendous and unmanaged. However the stylist did a phenomenal job on my hair! It took nearly 6 hours. It has been about 5 days since I straightened my hair, and I absolutely LOVE it. I was expecting somewhere around 400$ to get this bomb (referring to my messy hair) removed, but it was only 200$. One thing, before you visit here, make up your mind as to what you want to do- in my case, I only wanted to straighten my hair, but the stylist recommends doing extra perm, which could be good, but not necessary. If you have somewhat weak willpower and are on a budget, decide beforehand, otherwise you could easily end up doing a lot of stuff to your hair. read more

I went in for dip extensions and a pedi. It was the only place opened past 8 pm in the area so I accepted the high price of $75 for the dip extensions. I was the only person at the salon and that should have been the first red flag. The nails weren't smooth at all and you could see the indentation from the extensions. Needless to say, two nails broke off that same night while I was packing and the rest of them didn't last more than 9 days. I spend less money going to get all of them fix at a different salon over the next week and half than I did getting them done here. The worst part was getting laughed at by the attendant at the next salon when I told her how much I paid and how fast they broke off. On top of shitty service, she made me Venmo her instead of taking a credit card payment because the internet was "down". Oh, and she tried to charge an additional $25 for some pink solution to make them last longer and I'm really happy I didn't accept. Not sure about hair but do not get dip extensions here. read more

This place share space with eclaire nair salon.As soon as I stepped inside of this place, I immediately thought I need to get out of this place. Its not properly equipped as a hair salon and my stylist was busy with nail customers. My hair was flying everywhere because of the fan that was on right next to me. I have a long hair and it only took her 15 minutes to finish. She was keep suggesting me to get other treatments like coloring, japanese straitening ant etc. I told her that I only want my hair get trimmed, nothing else. Popped in on a rainy Saturday with just one other person (guy) getting his hair cut; which came out pretty good I must say. It is a small place and I was welcomed by Kang who was so pleasantly warm and incredibly friendly with great energy. I absolutely loved her. My hair was incredibly long almost at my butt and crazy damaged from hair dye. She recommended keratin which was tempting but I did not have enough funds at the time :( ($100 for cut and keratin, $35 just for cut) she cut off more than I hoped but she convinced me it was well needed due to how bad my hair was damaged. I love how my hair came out it was such a good price and she styled it great! I've been to cheap salons in china town to high end $150 haircuts in soho and so far this is my favorite. It isn't choppy and thin and she did NOT go scissor happy like they do in cheap salons in china town. Kang knew exactly what she was doing for my type of hair. The only complaint I had was that blowing out my hair costed an extra $15 that she did not mention and was a waste because A) I was not going anywhere that day B) it was raining (enough said) Anyway, great haircut for a great price I DEFINITLEY recommend read more

Hmm.. im having a mind battle where to go on this one... I came here yesterday with really broken hair and asked what I should do about it. Even after asking the only thing the woman could utter was 'haircut? yes ok haircut' So after stating 3x more, no, conditioning treatment then was motioned to get the Keratin $120 promotion. I have had the treatment done at other salons and Im still kinda baffled why salons charge so much for it. ..Anyway my hair really needed something so I decided to give it a try. In all my hair was washed, keratin applied...which took maybe 5 min. Sat under the warmer for 10 min and then washed out. Did it help my hair? Not really.... It made it a little less frizzy but its still damaged and coarse. What really bothered me was she said she was going to trim some damage off, nothing fancy. Ok. Then as I was being rung up she said its an extra $35 for the haircut... Um.. a TRIM isnt a haircut. After that she tried to make me buy a $50 bottle of product. THe worst. Ive been coming here for years and she always does it right every time. Just got my haircut a few days ago and she managed to cut as much of my damaged hair off without taking off too much because I still wanted some length. Speaking of damaged hair, she also put on some treatment during the wash which I appreciated. I have very flat hair and didn't know what hairstyle I should go with so she gave me some layers for some volume and i couldnt be happier with the end result . Poor Customer Service! What caught my eye was their large promotional window banner advertising Japanese Straight Perm $120 Brazilian Keratin Perm $120 I pre-booked my appt for a Japanese straight perm as the first appt on a Monday morning. PROB #1: Owner ( Only one working that day ) takes in another appt that morning at the same time as mine. Mind you she chooses to juggle Two Labor Intensive procedures ( Japanese Straight Perm and Full Hair Coloring ) on us clients. Results: I sensed a Disparity in the Service Between Me and the other Client ( who had Family serviced there before). The owner took the other client First and tried to fit me in between when convenient for her ( resulting in chemicals being left too long in my hair and being rushed in parts where time needed to be taken ). Mind You: I've had a a Japanese straight perm regularly for the last 12 years - I Know What Service To Expect PROB #2: Owner tried to upsell me with a ridiculous combination of the promotional perms advertised ( so a Japanese/ Brazilian Keratin Perm ) trying to take my price from $120 to $240. PROB #3: At the end of the entire procedure, the owner sifts through my hair and says out loud " Oh My God ". I ask her what's wrong. She say " Nothing, just curl " and proceeds to Straighten my finished perm ( supposedly straight hair ) with a FlatIron? I try and give the Benefit of The Doubt. Two days later, after washing my hair - I find a Thick Bend in my hair where my old straightened hair and new growth meet. PROB #4: Owner refuses to refund any payment. She States the problem is My Hair! ( Mind you I've never had a problem with getting beautiful stick straight hair from Japanese straight Perms for the last 12 years ). She did offer to re-do my perm using using a stronger "Korean" perm solution on my hair... I didn't feel like that was best idea for the health of my hair. read more

Not only was that so nice of her, when I mentioned that I didn't have any makeup on or with me and that I wished I did, she went into her own pro bridal makeup kit and gave me a mini makeup application on the house, complete with a spritz of Chanel. The place isn't very big but the service is excellent. Been in NYC long enough to tell you that is a low tier korean hair salon. I made an appointment at 12:00 but wasn't seated till 12:40. She could have atleast called to let me know but she didn't. Then my haircut began and she roughly started chopping away without asking much of what I wanted. She said that my hair cut was done wrong by my previous stylist and how much better she was. Ok.. Then in 15 minutes she said I was done and ushered me to get my hair wash. WHAT? I was in and out of the chair in 22 minutes because she was behind schedule. She cut so fast and you could tell that she just wanted to move on to the next customer as fast as she could. Worst part of the experience was that she didn't ask if everything was ok at the end, she just moved me to wash hair and slapped on hair product. In the end I got a really crappy haircut and I have to get it redone soon because it's far from what I wanted. When I asked her to fix up some things at the end cause it wasn't what I wanted, she got a bit upset and told me she knows best. Um.. It's my hair.. Ive had it for 22 years.. It was 30 dollars for mens cut without adding tip, BUT IT IS NOT WORTH IT. Pay the extra 10-15 dollars and go to OSH or Aate or Kim Sun Young for a korean mens cut. It is actually a much better deal considering they spend much more time and care for your hair and are much better trained stylists!!
