I searched for months for lodgings that wouldn't charge by the person by the week but by the week alone. Finally, I came across Robertstown Holiday Village. Not only were they affordable but they accepted a down payment and payments well in advance of arrival. So that was a major plus. Upon getting set up, (I was the first one there, the others arrived later that night) the owner came by to see how everyone was doing. The property was right in the heart of Robertstown, with a pub/grocery store within walking distance, and the cottage we were booked into had a pond in the backyard. Couldn't be a better place to stay in all of Kildare, as far as I'm concerned. I recommend them to everyone, even 15 years later.

You will definitely will recognize this amazing store. The store is located in the Beautiful Village Of Avoca, County Wicklow, Ireland. It should be noted I am originally from Dublin, Ireland, lived in the United States for over thirty years and served in the United States Marines all over the world. I definitely know a great store all my Travels and Life Experiences. I definitely will return to Hendley's in the near future. You definitely won't be disappointed!

We didn't actually end up going to the campsite after contacting the presumed owner Eamon by email…read more I contacted Eamon looking for information about the campsite and fishing on the lake. The reply I received was simply, "Please advise how many in your party, Eamon". I informed Eamon that there would be 3 of us but that could possibly go up to 5 and again asked for the information I had mentioned in my first email. This time the reply I got was, "Age profile please". I fail to see why I need to provide an age profile when I'm looking for information about a campsite I might use. Overall I found Eamon extremely unprofessional and unhelpful. I have heard from people that have used this campsite recently that it has gone severely downhill from the days it was an award winning site. Sad to hear as there are very few good campsites around at the moment.

Larch hill is where the scouts, beavers and cups go for camps and various events. What a wonderful…read moreplace with all it's fields for pitching tents and a huge shower and toilet block. This place has been here years and only improved since the day i camped there as a girl guide. The place can be difficult to find for those not familar with the place. You have to drive past the Merry Ploughboy pub and take the first sharp left turn then go on straight up a small road until you reach the end and then you are met with a winding narrow path that goes up and up until you are met with breathtaking views of Rathfarnham and surrounding area. God forbid you meet a car coming down as you are driving up as you will have to stop precariously close to the edge. I'm so jealous of my two daughters that camp there regularly as i'd imagine it is so exciting camping under the stars. They organise campfires, sing scout songs, learn how to make things like wooden tables and learn all about how to be a good boy/girl scout. Better than hanging around street corners.

It has a park for beavers and obstacle courses for Cubs, scouts and ventures. It has plenty of fields for people to camp in and if you prefer to stay indoors, they have two houses with plenty of rooms and beds. What I love most about coming is meeting other scout troops and getting to know other people. If there is a couple of scout troops here, the best place for all of them to be at the one time is the camp circle. When at the camp circle, we are all one, we sing lots of songs. Each troop would sing different songs and we all sing along and participate in actions of the songs.

It was good friday when we arrived down and the shop was closed and the site owner gave us a great welcome and opened the shop for us because we had no shopping but he had no bread and he went to his own press and got us bread and did not even charge us for it. He even gave my son a bag of sweets. I could not believe how good he was and for a camp site owner to be that good i hope he gets plenty of business because he deserves it.
