Thanks to the information and previous reviews on Yelp, I saved myself a lunch break out of the office by going to to Silver Spring Automotive instead of Good Year. I've never been to either of these but both were equally close to my work. I called early AM, explained I had a slow leak in my front tire and asked when would be a good time to come in/if they had time available today. They did and asked that I call back between 1-2 to let them know when I planned on coming. I did just that, zipped on over and was out in no time. They had to take my tire off and seal the tire to the rim. I walked out paying $25.36 or $26.35. Either way, worth it. read more

I've been using Silver Spring Automotive for a couple years for my old truck. In addition to regular maintenance, I've had them do major work as well. I've always felt as if I was fairly treated. Work was done well and done promptly. The experience that made me write this review was a small but significant one. Last Saturday, I realized I had a slow leak on the tire on our minivan (A newer vehicle that hadn't been here). I went to Goodyear (where I bought the tires) to have them take a look. They were busy and had me schedule an appointment for Monday. I overheard someone else at the counter with a similar issue and it sounded like it was going to cost about $40 to just have it looked and and repaired. I went ahead and scheduled the appointment. Later that evening, I thought, 'I should call Silver Spring.' It was after hours, so I decided to call first thing Monday morning. I called SS on Monday about 7:45am, told them I had a nail in my tire, and asked how much it would cost to fix. They said, 'if it's on the vehicle, $12." They said it would take about 5-10 min and that I didn't need an appointment. I said, I'll be right over. I drove over to their new place on Bender (nice upgrade) and I was in and out in about 10 minutes. Quick, convenient, fair, inexpensive, and personal. It's not a fancy place, but if you want guys that do it right the first time at a fair price, these are your guys. read more

My car had a flat tire and this place is really close to where I work (and where I found out I had a flat). I put the spare on and I figured I'd drop by and get my tire patched. They took my car in that day and had it patched in less than 20 mins! They were so kind and I had just an overall great experience! Great customer service, great patch on my tire. I have used silver spring automotive about ten times and been happy with the people and work. They are very decent people and act like professionals. I had only one problem with brakes that required a bit of rework, but they handled that with no issues or problems and that was what I wanted. The prices are not crazy cheap or expensive. They seem about normal to me. Parts prices might be 30 percent high.. but I cant say that I have done research into that... its just a feeling. So i highly recommend that if you have car issues that you consider this shop. The folks that work the phones are very nice. The owner is in his office , not hiding somewhere. The mechanics are skilled and do great work, and your car comes out clean and during the repair process you know things are handled with care and respect. I have mostly done all my own car repairs for decades , so I am not used to handing a mechanic my keys. At silver spring auto I felt comfortable with that. read more

Picked this place after reading Yelp reviews but have to say "Not Impressed" Rick has the customer service skills and personality of a wet waffle. Charged us $40 to confirm a radiator leak (what a rip off) and couldn't fit us in for 2 days..seemed too busy to care or pretend to care. We asked if $40 could go towards the expensive repair.....no response...just that it would cost a min if 2 hours and $200 to assess. Went down the street to Car-X and they did the same leak test for free, gave estimate same day and started repair even though they were busier then Silver Spring Auto. You guys just lost a good goid customer...easy come...easy go. read more

Stay far away. This place is your stereotypical bad mechanic. They charge $100 bucks just to diagnose your car, then they hit you with an outrageous estimate. They charge a 300 to 400 percent premium on parts. Taken my car their twice and each time left pissed. I should have known better the second time. read more

I visited this place because I was referred by a business colleague of mine who is also in the car business. I stopped by, spoke with Nicole. Nicole called with diagnosis, shared with me what they found, and prices for work they would perform. I went for brakes, had a couple of other issues, one of which I decided to get fixed while it was there because it was a possible safety issue. Nicole kept me updated and was very accommodating, as was I because I understand that things happen in business. When I go to pick my car up, where the final bill was over $1800, I decided to pay by bank card instead of a credit card. The transaction failed due to a bank card daily limit, which I had to call the bank to get the limit raised. Meanwhile, the entire office is witnessing what is happening. While on the phone, the customer service agent tells me that it will take some time raise the limit, because of Covid-19, they are working from home and these types of things just take longer now, understandable. When I get off the phone with the bank, I was going to wait inside for the 10 minutes for the transaction go through, but had a quick idea because of Covid and social distancing to go outside of the building and test drive my car out because the major part of the job was my brakes. Realizing that it may sound a little fishy to ask to drive my car, I asked Nicole if she kept my card there with her, could I drive my car down the street to test out the brakes. The other guy at the counter blurted in, "you can't leave without paying". I say, "you have my credit card", to which this guy replies, "but it doesn't work." Excuse me! Even after I've trusted you with my vehicle, trusting you to have all of my info, and hear the conversation I have with the bank your first thought is that I would steal your services, and leave my bank card along with all of my personal info??? "I try now to talk to the owner who doesn't even just acknowledge how I felt just goes to telling me I was wrong and that I didn't feel like I was treated a certain way?!?! Not only did the final bill come in under the estimate but work was done in a little over an hour. Great service and first time experience. Front Axle Replacements ($419) Oil Dipstick Replacement ($128) Engine Degrease ($47) When compared to other Volkswagen Certified shops (Concours, Ernie Von Schledorn, Prestige Auto), SSA prices are very competitive. Please note that I wrote Volkswagen Certified, implying that this shop should not be compared to just any other shop. When it comes to my Passat, these people know their stuff, and the price reflects that. I'm willing to pay a bit more to make sure the work is done correctly the first time. read more

I have been going to Silver Spring auto for over 12 years and have always gotten good service. The staff is always friendly and will explain what needs to be done and why. They always answer my questions. They are always honest with what needs to done and what can wait for a few months. Their prices are competative with other repair facilities. I have them inspect vehicles before I purchase and they have saved me from buy a couple lemons. One had been in an accident and they were able to tell from the paint job inside the engine compartment, and another needed alot of minor repairs which was not worth the price. The cars they said I should buy they told me what to offer the dealership for the vehicles. I have never needed more than routine maintenance on any of the vehicles they inspected for me. If I hear any sounds or vibrations I can take it there without an appointment and they will test drive and tell me what they think. This is the only place I trust with my vehicles. read more
