The staff at Silver Linings are wonderful and they do their best to teach the skills of TKD while also helping the children learn to be patient, respectful and kind. If you or your child is at all interested in learning TKD then I highly recommend you try Silver Linings first. My five year old son has been at Silver Lining for about seven months now. We started with a free trial lesson, then a discounted trial period after that to make sure it was a good fit (this is a wonderful thing that is offered)! After that, my son was hooked and we've been doing their "Little Kickers" classes ever since. Through the pandemic, Silver Lining has maintained virtual class offerings. They have struck a wonderful balance of keeping everyone safe and keeping classes going. Beyond that, I am grateful for Mr. Mbow's ability to facilitate youth classes in a fun and engaging way that maintains order (with 4-6 year olds!) and ensures my son and the other kids have a great experience and learn. I was one of the moms there on the day mentioned in one of the other reviews. Rather than sling mud, I will simply say I was very impressed and grateful for Mr. Mbow's composure in a very tough situation. I perceived him to be direct and respectful while trying to ensure the class was not compromised for the other students who were engaged. Not all programs will be a good fit for all families, but this one is great for ours. read more

THIS KARATE COMPANY I RATE A FAT ZERO! I COULD NOT GIVE THEM A ZERO BECAUSE THIS REVIEW WILL NOT ALLOW ME TO FOR PARENTS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS KIDS DO NOT GO TO THIS KARATE PLACE. THEY ARE FAKE WITH THEIR CARING ATTITUDE! THEY WILL NOT WORK WITH YOUR KIDS! This is my side of the story. I was told by my case manager that this place works with special needs kids. My set of 4 year twins have autism diagnosis and we had an evaluation done by the owner prior before starting. He evaluated them and told us that they could start karate. We were "excited." We did the 6 weeks trial and only did 4 session until COVID hit. During those 4 sessions, there were 2 main instructors and 1-2 junior instructors and about 25 students. I felt my kids did not get their karate sessions knowing that they were not at the level as the rest of the kids. I felt during the 4 session they were just there to get comfortable about what karate is all about. My kids need the more 1:1 attention but they did not accommodate this. They were more involve trying to get as many kids in with few instructors. Having a diagnosis of autism, one have to understand that "you must be at their level and not the instructor!" I got a call from Gabrielle that it was reopening with some limitation and all kids must wear a mask while doing karate. We went on 6/18/20 and the instructor was the owner (Mr. Mbow). There was 3 other kids with my set of twin so a total of 5 students. My kids were NOT understanding what Mr. Mbow was telling the team and kept doing something else. 15 minutes into this, I felt he got VERY FRUSTRTED WITH THEM, and he expressly yelled at my twin and I felt towards me as well..."IF YOU GUYS ARE NOT GOING TO LISTEN THEN YOU CAN GO HOME." I was shocked how humiliated I was a parent and for my kids in front of three other mothers and 3 student. I understand that my kids are just being kids and they are not understanding of what is being said by him. They were not trying to get him frustrated or trying not to listen. Being autistic, they already of have a speech and language problem! How dare you talk to them in front of the other kids and 3 other mothers. HE DID NOT SHOW ANY RESPECT TOWARDS ME OR MY KIDS. At that moment, I should have CUSS his ass out in front of the mothers and walked out but I did not. 5 minutes later, he then announced to me (still in session) that he wants a word with me. For godsake, he could have wait until the end to tell me because I still would have time. After class, he pulls me into his office and the door is not close and starting expressing his concern...."IF MY KIDS NOT BEHAVING AND LISTEN THEN THEY CAN NOT COME BACK BECAUSE IT'S NOT FAIR FOR THE REST OF THE KIDS!" He further say "ITS NOT FAIR FOR THE REST OF STUDENTS." I know other mothers heard the conversation. Well, let me tell you as mother Mr. Mbow.. YOU ACTION TODAY SPEAK OF THE TRUTH OF THE PERSON YOU TRULY ARE AND WHAT BUSINESS ETHNICS YOU OPERATE! You are broken my kids HIPPA violation. I will never return at this place. I reported this information back to my case manager and I hope that they lose business and word of mouth speak the TRUTH! read more

My daughter loves all the staff at Kicks, she always couldn't wait to go to class. She learned so much and the staff always made sure that she was respectful at all times. We have had to move away recently and she is still respectful and uses skills she learned at Kicks that I wish we were closer so she could continue to learn from all the staff. We have been a part of the Kick's Unlimited Middleton family for almost 3 years now. Martial arts is something we wouldn't have tried, but were given a 6- week trial through a family friend. WELL, karate has changed our son's life. He absolutely loves it. The staff are top-notch, and so great with their students. Mr. Mbow, the owner, is as good as it gets for martial arts instructors, and he has surrounded himself with the best instructors out there.
