Horses are so cared for here. Plenty of turn outs. Really nice cleaned fresh stalls. Great people here. Riding rings are so clean with lights for night ride . These guys are always on a tractor maintaining this beautiful place . Great borders everyone is helpful and so nice. Beautiful rings with lights on if you want to ride. Tack rooms have plenty of room so clean inside. Wash areas are lovley. Breakfast lunch and dinner so spoiled here . Lots of trails and hills to explore. Lots of training for you and your horse. I highly recommend this magical place. Thank you for the opportunity to live this dream . I just love being here . Love all the dogs and horses .

They have two arenas, one fenced, one not, and one round pen. They have lights in the fenced arena. They offer two types of hay, Bermuda and Alfalfa which is pretty good quality. They take good care of the property and the owners are nice. They also have big turnouts for the horses which are really well maintained and bigger than what you see at other barns in the area. The property is really beautiful too, great views and access to loads of trails at Happy Camp Park. Cons - this isn't a barn for nighttime riders as it is very, very dark. They have lights up at the main barn and one light for the parking lot, but it's pretty dark. I had a little trouble getting the groom to consistently feed my horse properly, which is one of the reasons I left. The arenas have considerable downtime when it rains too which puts a real damper on Winter training. The prices for boarding there are really high and are comparable with a show barn that offers far more amenities than VDM offers - too high for what you get in my opinion. They also have several dogs running free - which can really freak out the horses sometimes (but if your horse is used to that, it's pretty fun for the dogs). They are great if you want to ride on the trails and during the day and if you aren't a stickler about your horse being fed exactly as you ask all the time. All the boarders are nice and the property is quite beautiful...it just depends what you are looking for.

We met our guide at a private lot with direct beach access. (No crossing freeways or long rides to the beach) Our guide Steve was friendly and we were given clear instruction before mounting the horses. My husband had never been on a horse before and he was nervous but afterward said he had a great time and felt confident on the horse as we rode. While we did not book a private ride, our group ended up only being our family of three and it was a truly gorgeous day and awesome experience. If we lived local I would do this all the time!

I brought a water bottle attached to a lanyard and both of these employees felt the need to judgmentally ask me if I "really needed that water bottle" and "are you sure that won't fall off?" Of course, the water bottle did fall off. When we got back, the man rudely and unnecessarily remarked "I told you it would fall off." I was paired with a terrible horse who did not follow any of my commands, constantly ate the vegetation, pinned his ears at and would try to bite the other horses for no reason, etc. I have some experience riding horses and I was doing my absolute best with this out-of-control horse. In turn, I was continually being barked at by the guides to "pull up on the reins and release, don't let him eat, kick him, go to the back, catch up to the rest of the group, keep him away from the other horses" etc. In addition, we rode through a very busy freeway overpass with multiple onramps/offramps and cars everywhere. We also passed right next to an active railroad. Of course, a train roared past a mere ten feet away from us. The horses spooked and it was a miracle that no one was thrown off. We were not given any prior warning that we would be riding in the middle of these very dangerous environments. If there was a warning in the waiver, I wouldn't have known because we were so rushed to sign it and had no time to read it. We finally made it to the actual beach and spent a mere 20 minutes on the shore before riding back through the danger zones towards home. I spent the entire ride pissed off, disappointed and feeling unsafe.

Not only has she come out of her shell, she has developed more confidence and self-esteem. She is learning how to ride a horse, how to care for a horse, how to properly saddle a horse. Brooke has learned responsibility and respect for animals. Mrs. Peck takes a serious approach to teaching her students about horse riding and care. She starts with the basics of how to care for horses like brushing and grooming them, cleaning the face, using the correct body terms and how to saddle and tack up a horse and ready for riding. She takes safety, very seriously her no nonsense approach teaches children not only to respect an animal that weighs over 1000 pounds. But to have compassion and love for horses. Do not come to Peck Farms expecting this to be a pony ride experience, it is not. She will teach your child how to be responsible. She will teach your child how to take ownership of riding a horse from start to finish. She teaches with love and kindness and compassion, but she also wants to make sure that your child understands directions thoroughly and that they do not get hurt or hurt her horses. I've sat in on my daughter's lesson I have watched and listened, and I appreciate the respect she gives my daughter as well as the kindness and compassion. She shows her. For anyone that says differently about Mrs. Peck. I invite you to come down and actually watch a lesson.Aa few reviews I've read do not match my experience or my daughter's. If you want your child to develop a love of riding horses both western or English saddle. I suggest you book a lesson with Mrs. Peck and come down and watch and see for yourself. I think you'll be very happy with the progress your child will make. I know I'm extremely happy with my daughter's progress. She loves riding.

As someone who has been around horses for a while and has experienced various riding schools, I can confidently say that my time there was far from satisfactory. First and foremost, the facility itself is quite run down. The stalls are not in the best condition, and the overall environment lacks the cleanliness and upkeep one would expect from a stable. This was disheartening, especially considering the importance of a safe and well-maintained space for both riders and horses. When it came to the lessons, I found the timing to be consistently off. The sessions rarely started on time, which led to a lack of organization and made it hard to establish a routine. It often felt like I was left waiting around rather than getting the focused instruction I had hoped for. Speaking of instruction, while I appreciate enthusiasm, the owner talks far too much during lessons. I was eager to learn and get on the horse, but instead, I found myself listening to long monologues rather than engaging in practical exercises. As a result, I felt that valuable time was wasted, and my riding skills did not progress as I had hoped. As a result, I felt that valuable time was wasted, and my riding skills did not progress as I had hoped. In terms of cost, Pecks not offering value for money. The lessons are quite expensive considering the quality of instruction and facility. There are certainly better options in the area that provide a far superior experience for a similar or even lower price. Additionally, I had a troubling experience with the owner, who was consistently late for our scheduled sessions. This lack of professionalism was not only frustrating but also set a negative tone for my overall experience. Moreover, I noticed other negative reviews echoing similar complaints about tardiness and lack of reliability, but I hoped that things would be different for me. Unfortunately, they were not. Listening to a male instructor talk about how much he hated Trump and politics was so negative. I was here to have fun. I am just a young person who would like to have a good positive experience outside of my life of schooling. Lastly, I felt misled at times. The owner often made promises regarding the quality of the lessons and the state of the facility that did not hold up during my visits. This inconsistency was disheartening and left me feeling as though I could not trust the information provided. In summary, I cannot recommend Pecks based on my experience. There are many other stables that prioritize both quality instruction and a well-maintained environment, and I urge anyone considering lessons to explore those options instead. Lessons should be a joyful and enriching experience, but my time at Pecks was, unfortunately, anything but that. Owner posted a comment that I came during her husband's death. That is not true he died long before my visits. Sadly she has to use his death as an excuse.
