Stayed at Silver Lake Pool & Inn for three nights after a work conference in Los Angeles. It is a smaller boutique hotel in Silver Lake, beautifully designed and decorated. The location was great, within walking distance of the main stretch of Sunset Boulevard, with plenty of restaurants, bars, and coffee shops nearby. It also sits above an Erewhon, which is convenient, and there a views of the Hollywood Sign from the hotel. The rooms are spacious, the bed was very comfortable, and the overall atmosphere felt quiet, and serene, great for unwinding after a busy few days. I didn't end up dining at the on-site restaurant, but I did spend time at the pool and enjoyed the food and beverage options there. The pool area was great added to the relaxing vibe of the stay. Overall, I would recommend this hotel for a weekend getaway or a short stay where you want to be close to the East LA activity while still having a calm, quiet spot to stay. read more

Place has gone downhill. No meal services 2 days a week. You have to beg housekeeping to clean your rooms. And the internet doesn't work. The only reason we stay here is for location and there is no carpet. Praying another hotel opens in Silverlake. Or we're back to the west side for our LA visits. read more

This was solid. It's an elevated motel that has been nicely redone. Was a solid stay, room was very clean and decor was cute. Price is high but you are paying for location and style. Walking to Erewon next door is lovely and easy. My only complaints was that I couldn't get the window open so the recycled air was not a vibe. And you are on Santa Monica blvd. Our room was like $600 and overlooking and hearing traffic. Given the landscape of hotels these days - giving five stars and would stay here again. read more

Loved the vibes at this small Inn. I'm surprised the pool is not open during the evening- night time which is a shame. I have not stayed here overnight so this review isn't for that. Regardless, the pool was clean. Staff were present. The bar had decent drinks and food. Music was bopping. From check in Carly was helpful and kind and made sure we were able to have a nice view from our room. America, Gilbert and Miguel have the best customer service, can always rely on the staff for great recommendations and never feeling like a burden when asking questions or needing assistance. The rooms are always so clean and smell fresh upon arrival! I always recommend silver lake inn when people need a place in LA. Juan Carlos & Oscar are great with valet and always help us with our bags when I'm traveling solo with my daughter. Extremely disappointing and poorly managed. We called Silverlake Inn to ask about using their pool. They told us there was a minimum spend, which we were more than happy to meet. We confirmed the details over the phone and arrived within 20 minutes--only to be told the pool was closed. Apparently, we had called shortly after pool hours ended... but they failed to mention that during the call. No warning and no clarification. We spent money and time getting there based on their own information. It felt careless, dismissive, and frankly unprofessional. If a business can't communicate something as basic as whether a facility is open or not, how can you trust them with anything else? read more

I've stayed here twice now & I always thoroughly enjoy my stay. This place just has good vibes. Between the impeccable pool area, to the decor, to the ammmazing room service provided by Marco Polo, you really can't go wrong. I appreciate the nice assortment of snacks and beverages that they provide in the mini bar - and there's an Erewhon next door too in case you need to stock up on anything else. This place is a TOTAL rip-off. I chose it because it was near a wedding I was attending in Silverlake, and I guess I figured that for the price, it would be special. NOT. I PAID $669 PER NIGHT FOR THIS: 1. Poorly remodeled old motel. A strange, dark room with an uneven sloping floor & cheap fixtures. 2. Hard, uncomfortable mattress. Bedding with no top sheet & only 1 cover. 3. The only chair was in a dark corner & unusable because the seat was inches from the floor. No place else to sit. 4. No table or stand for my suitcase. 5. No place to put room service tray - I had to eat in bed. 6. No towel rods in bathroom, only inadequate, tiny hooks. 7. View from the window was a grungy street with graffiti-covered dumpsters. 8. I never found those promised "nearby great restaurants & boutiques." 9. When I got home, they fraudulently charged my credit card for $80 worth of minibar charges, which I had to dispute. 10. And they've sold my contact information to other LA businesses, so now I'm getting email solicitations. Those 5-star reviews now seem very suspicious to me. read more

Apart from the rooms being dated... The hotel charges a resort fee but the two times we went to use the pool it was over sold to no hotel guests. Furthermore, they charged both my credit card and my sister's credit card for her room. In addition, we paid the deposit for an additional room for my mother in law and she was then charged for both nights she was there. It has taken over six weeks of emails and calls and the issue is still not resolved. Can't recommend, but if you do stay, check your room folio. read more

I'll start off by saying the hotel decor and cleanliness is spot on. Everything looks like how it does in the photos online which I appreciate! Our room was cleaned super well and was spacious and definitely had the vibe you'd expect from seeing photos online. We booked this staycation for our "babymoon" because we liked the vibe and didn't want to drive far from home (we live 30 minutes from the hotel). We were told prior to coming to the hotel that there was garage parking. We called after circling around the hotel twice to find that it was valet only. We didn't really want someone sitting in our car during Covid times which was annoying, but what're you gonna do. This hotel is supposed to be "pet/dog friendly," yet there is not a patch of grass in sight or any dog relief area on the entire premises. I had asked the front desk if there was a nearby grass area because our pup had to go and they looked at me like I was speaking a different language. FYI, the closest patch of grass is on the backside of the hotel across a SUPER busy street where there is no crosswalk or street light. You have to run across a busy main street to a residential area with your dog every time they need to use the restroom which was a HUGE pain in the ass...we booked this hotel because we had wanted to bring our dog, yet it was a bigger pain in the butt in the end. Another thing we had an issue with is our room AC/heating unit. The AC wouldn't turn off and we had called front desk about it and they said they would send someone to come fix it if we couldn't get it to turn off. Supposedly our room had a defective AC unit that had recently been worked on. We didn't want someone in our room while we were staying there because of Covid (also I'm pregnant so we just didn't want to deal with someone working on an AC unit while we were trying to enjoy our stay) so it was just another issue we faced. We ended up sleeping with the AC running the entire night and was shivering. Lastly, our main reason for our stay here was we wanted somewhere close to home that had a pool to lounge at. We booked two nights so that we would be able to hangout at the pool during the day. Well we made 3 attempts to sit at the pool but it was PACKED every time we tried to go with not one seat available so it was just a major $800 waste for us. We're so disappointed at how busy the pool area was and didn't even get to enjoy it. We ended up deciding to checkout after one night, even though we had paid for two. Such a bummer. read more

Terrible experience. Staff was incredibly rude. My girlfriend made a reservation for 4 people for the pool. I tried to meet her and the General Manager Gilbert was very rude asked me for the name of the reservation and pretended like he didn't see it. When I pointed to the name of the reservation he said "Yeah, I see it." in a very condescending tone. Then he said it's only for 3 people, which was not true, my girlfriend showed me the confirmation for the reservation for 4. He said the reservation was for 3 people only. This went back and forth for a while as I explained maybe 3 people checked in but the reservation was for 4. Then even more condescendingly he said "Well, there's a 50 dollar minimum" as if that mattered. I think he was just trying to do anything to not let me in. Not once did this guy ask me how I was doing or say "hi welcome" or "how can I help you". For the GM of a hotel he seemed very unprofessional and not hospitable at all. Granted I was not staying at the hotel, and I'm sure they've had issues with people crashing the pool but if I make a reservation somewhere I expect some kind of service or hospitality. Don't drink the tap water here. Seriously. I lived here before it was turned into a hotel. The plumbing was the worst I've seen. Only a complete teardown would fix this place, but they just put a new coat of paint on it and called it a day. I've been to the hotel, and it doesn't look like anything has changed. They were previously small studio apartments before the tenants were forced out without compensation or significant notice. One of the oldest tenants believed the building was constructed as temporary housing for athletes during the Olympics. Either way it's clear the building wasn't made to last. As tenants they didn't really communicate about the change. It really wouldn't have bothered us if they had just told us instead of doubling everyone's rent first. Thanks. That was great. read more

The reason I'm giving this 4 stars instead of 5 is because there was an incident of a lost/stolen item from my room. Yes, the hotel is beautiful and stylish with super comfortable beds, friendly and accommodating staff, and a lovely rooftop pool. However, I vividly remember leaving my new black Birkenstocks next to my bed and forgot to pack them. I called the hotel 24-hours later after I checked out once I realized and no one who was cleaning my room turned them into lost and found. That experience ended up leaving a bad taste in my mouth after I spent a lot of money to stay there for 7 nights and left a nice tip. I'm not one to point fingers, but I specifically remember leaving them there and now they can't be found...what's up with that? read more

I had been here several times with my (white) girlfriends and was warmly welcomed into the pool area and had an amazing time with great service. Came here a few days ago with my black friend and had a very different experience. The second we walked in we were rapidly approached by a woman who very aggressively informed us that the pool was for guests only. She didn't ask us if we were guests but immediately assumed that we couldn't possibly be. We left but I couldn't shake the feeling my friend had been discriminated against so I went back in to talk it out with the manager. When I politely broached the topic with her she began raising her voice at me and became erratic, even shouting at me as I had already tuned to leave. The room was nice, big, well appointed. The lower stars are for the weird shaking that happens every once in awhile. At first I thought it might be an earthquake (mild but noticeable) but then it happened multiple times and always for the same duration...maybe the elevator? It did keep me up much longer than I had planned. The manager Sean at the pool was extremely racist and rude towards us getting a drink after spending $100's of dollars downstairs. He never asked if I was a hotel guest and assumed because I wanted a drink at the upstairs bar that I didn't belong with the common folk. We just stayed here, had 2 rooms. Both were clean, well thought out, designed nicely and had a lovely view. I love once you check in, you can just walk directly to your room, not have to walk through a crowded lobby every time. Nice for privacy. The pool area is clean and doesn't smell like alcohol (Like Ace Downtown lol). The location is A+, you can walk to all Silver Lake has to offer. Restaurants. Shopping. Bars & clubs. The restaurant and bar at the hotel are both pretty BUT, the only reason I didn't give this place 5 stars is the food. Our entire group was vegan. There's not a thing on their menu we could eat. It's funny because Silverlake is very vegan friendly area with many plant based restaurants. I really think this hotel would be doing itself a favor by having some plant based options. I mean it's a hip, cool hotel, not an old Hyatt Regency. It should have a hip, cool menu. read more

Let me just say the rooms are decorated cute but this hotel is just a renovated, ran-down motel made to convince hipsters this is "THE SPOT". There's technically only 2 people per room allowed at the pool at a time. We left some items by accident after our stay. We reached out, completed a form in order to receive our item if found, they confirmed they had the items and to come pick them up and then they decided it's okay to "purge" the items after a time limit that was undisclosed. So basically the staff got first pick at any items left over even though we confirmed we would be coming to pick up our possessions. What kind of company policy is this? It's honestly horrible service and ridiculous that they even take possession of items that are not their own. I would honestly recommend a different hotel for your stay in LA. read more

Are there many aesthetically pleasing hotels in LA? Yes, of course but in my opinion Silver Lake Pool & Inn is one of the few that truly offers everything. The hotel is not just beautiful it is truly a quality experience across the board. I have now stayed at SLP&I twice and I literally cannot imagine booking any other hotel. The rooms are beautiful, the beds are comfortable, and everything feels clean without that disgusting sterile hotel smell. The staff all seem to really enjoy their jobs and it comes across in their service to hotel guests. I decided to extend my recent stay one extra night and Roman, Brendan, Christina made the process super easy and accommodated me on super short notice. Roman was working most often during my stay and always made me feel very welcome, this is not so common at other boutique hotels across Southern California. Valet parking allows for in and out and you pay per day, super convenient and again, the valet drivers were very kind. My only very small complaint is the service at the pool, the servers come up to check on everyone pretty infrequently - at two points I called the bar and requested someone come up. The drinks were worth the wait though! We will without a doubt be back again soon! read more
