    Pool

Loved the vibes at this small Inn. I'm surprised the pool is not open during the evening- night time which is a shame. I have not stayed here overnight so this review isn't for that. Regardless, the pool was clean. Staff were present. The bar had decent drinks and food. Music was bopping. Definitely a young, trendy crowd from what you expect from Silver Lake with a few older adults. Had a great time here and would be happy to come back!

I've stayed here twice now & I always thoroughly enjoy my stay. This place just has good vibes. Between the impeccable pool area, to the decor, to the ammmazing room service provided by Marco Polo, you really can't go wrong. I appreciate the nice assortment of snacks and beverages that they provide in the mini bar - and there's an Erewhon next door too in case you need to stock up on anything else. It's central to many spots in LA and you're in close walking distance to a bunch of Silverlake spots.

The only water available before 8am

If you are an early riser and like to drink water or eat before 8am, set the bar low for basic human necessity in their common area because they don't have water at the front desk and the restaurant doesn't open until 8. And bring your winter jacket bc sitting outside is the only place you'll be able to wait oh and I suppose you can suck water out of this lions head! I don't want to wake up my roommate or I would have just stayed in my room. This place doesn't have their hospitality basics down but the rooms are cool ‍

    Broken AC/heating unit

I'll start off by saying the hotel decor and cleanliness is spot on. Everything looks like how it does in the photos online which I appreciate! Our room was cleaned super well and was spacious and definitely had the vibe you'd expect from seeing photos online. We booked this staycation for our "babymoon" because we liked the vibe and didn't want to drive far from home (we live 30 minutes from the hotel). We were told prior to coming to the hotel that there was garage parking. We called after circling around the hotel twice to find that it was valet only. We didn't really want someone sitting in our car during Covid times which was annoying, but what're you gonna do. This hotel is supposed to be "pet/dog friendly," yet there is not a patch of grass in sight or any dog relief area on the entire premises. I had asked the front desk if there was a nearby grass area because our pup had to go and they looked at me like I was speaking a different language. FYI, the closest patch of grass is on the backside of the hotel across a SUPER busy street where there is no crosswalk or street light. You have to run across a busy main street to a residential area with your dog every time they need to use the restroom which was a HUGE pain in the ass...we booked this hotel because we had wanted to bring our dog, yet it was a bigger pain in the butt in the end. Another thing we had an issue with is our room AC/heating unit. The AC wouldn't turn off and we had called front desk about it and they said they would send someone to come fix it if we couldn't get it to turn off. Supposedly our room had a defective AC unit that had recently been worked on. We didn't want someone in our room while we were staying there because of Covid (also I'm pregnant so we just didn't want to deal with someone working on an AC unit while we were trying to enjoy our stay) so it was just another issue we faced. We ended up sleeping with the AC running the entire night and was shivering. Lastly, our main reason for our stay here was we wanted somewhere close to home that had a pool to lounge at. We booked two nights so that we would be able to hangout at the pool during the day. Well we made 3 attempts to sit at the pool but it was PACKED every time we tried to go with not one seat available so it was just a major $800 waste for us. We're so disappointed at how busy the pool area was and didn't even get to enjoy it. We ended up deciding to checkout after one night, even though we had paid for two. Such a bummer.

Absolutely love this place, stellar location near Hollywood in silverlake. Surrounded by great restaurants and boutiques and next door to erewhon, rooms are stunning and the rooftop pool as well as restaurant and bar are great.

Last night, I saw a young woman enter the hotel clearly under the influence alongside a young man. At first, I assumed they were together, but something about the situation felt off. The young man seemed to be following her and trying to control the interaction while insisting she was "fine" and didn't need help. What stood out to me was that Joy did not simply take his word for it. She stepped in, calmly took control of the situation, and continued checking on the young woman despite the man trying to speak over her. After some back and forth, I heard Joy directly ask the young woman if she knew the man. Shockingly, the young woman said no. At that moment, Joy immediately asked the man to step away and questioned why he claimed to know her and why he was following her. Once confronted, the man left. From what I witnessed, the young woman was then safely escorted and able to recover in safety. As a bystander, I cannot express how much respect I have for Joy. In today's world, many people would have ignored the situation or brushed it off as people "just having fun." Instead, Joy trusted her instincts and potentially protected that woman from a very dangerous situation. Because of her attentiveness and courage, that young woman was able to safely wake up without a stranger in her room or something far worse happening to her. Watching this unfold honestly made me feel safer staying at this property. Employees like Joy are rare, and the Conrad should be incredibly grateful to have someone so observant, compassionate, and proactive representing their hotel. On behalf of that young woman and as someone who witnessed everything unfold, thank you, Joy, for stepping in when it mattered most. The world needs more people like you. Keep up the amazing work.

It is a cross…read morebetween a standard hotel (with daily maid service) and an Airbnb (with a shared kitchen and living area). My husband and I stayed for a week while visiting our daughter who lives in Echo Park, so we had a lot of time to get to know it. Here are our thoughts, both pros and cons. PROS: The location is outstanding. The house sits high on a hill above Sunset Blvd. and there is no street noise from that roadway--you can't even see it. The house is accessed from an alley behind it and that was also very quiet, except on trash day. The area is safe and walkable--we walked to downtown LA to see the Grand Central Market and Angels Flight, we walked to Echo Park, and we walked to Dodger Stadium for a baseball game. There are many food options in the neighborhood, too. Some of our favorites were El Compadre (flaming margaritas!), Breakfast Republic, and Sticky Rice. There was also a Little Caesars pizza and a Jersey Mike's sandwich shop for quick meals. Throw in CVS, Lassens Natural Foods (with an amazing hot and cold food bar), a liquor store, a donut shop, a weekly farmers market, and a couple quirky retail stores, and you've got a lovely area to explore. Our room (#6) was comfortable with ample closet and cabinet space. A few more hangers would have been nice, but that is a minor detail. There was a full-length counter on one side of the room with a large kitchen sink, an electric kettle (no coffee maker), instant coffee packets, and assorted teas. A mini-fridge below the counter was nice for keeping beverages, coffee creamer, and food items cold. The daily maid service was nice. Coming back at the end of a long day to a made-up bed and fresh towels was very nice. The coffee and tea were restocked daily. The shared space was large and comfortable. The kitchen area had a full-sized refrigerator as well as sink, range, and oven. There were additional glasses and plates/bowls available, as well as cutlery. We liked sitting at the dining table for breakfast--much better than sitting in a bed. The living area had a nice couch, a coffee table, and a couple chairs, but we didn't really use them. The balcony that overlooks Sunset Blvd. is large, running the whole length of the house, with seating for many people in small clusters. We sat outside occasionally to read and sip a cocktail. CONS: The double bed itself was not as comfortable as I expected. The mattress was thin, as were the sheets and duvet. I suggest an upgrade to the bedding in terms of quality and size. The whole house has bare floors with no carpet or rugs. I know this makes it easier to keep clean, but it also makes it loud. Sound in the shared space carried easily to bedrooms, and even normal walking in the room above ours sounded loud. Perhaps some throw rugs might help dampen the sound. There is little parking. Luckily, we elected to use Lyft/Uber and did not rent a car. There is only room for 3 or 4 vehicles in the alley behind the house. If all those spots are filled, the next available parking is on the street several hundred yards away on Douglas. For us, the pros easily outweighed the cons and we will definitely stay at Noon on Sunset Hill again when we visit our daughter in Los Angeles.

This hotel is a bit under the radar and I only found it based on a random magazine article I read on boutique hotels in LA. After our most recent stay, I'm confident this hotel will always be at the top of list! First, the guest experience is well designed. They communicated in a timely and friendly way before our arrival about parking and the check-in process. (One amazing perk is free self-parking spot just steps away from back entrance, which means you can zip around town without the hassle of Los Feliz parking hunts). Second, the room is lovely. We stayed in Chapter 3. The bedding is similar to a quality you'd have at home -- no cheap scratchy sheets here! They use La Labo bath products in the bathroom and have a chemex/fellows set up with ground coffee at-the-ready. It is a hotel experience in a room that feels like the perfect apartment I always wanted. And finally, the location. For years, I stayed at larger chain hotels (e.g., Ace, Westin) in DTLA or smaller boutique hotels in Ktown. They felt like the only option in the 250-$350 per night range. While this place is a touch higher in price, the location (and free parking... don't forget hotels in LA charge -$40 for parking, before tip) is unique and worthwhile if it works for your budget. It's tucked into a discreet spot next to a coffee shop and wine bar, next door to Kismet (which I also rave-reviewed, 5 stars!), and walking distance from tons of stuff. Street side the entrance is totally unnoticeable, and you can go about your day without hotel-y things like lobbies full of people with screaming children and weird boomers staring at your tattoos in the elevator (no elevator). Overall, a totally enjoyable experience. My only tension for next time is whether to book chapter 3 again or to try other chapters!!

Very clean, professional staff, no fragrance issues I have at other hotels yet it still felt clean and fresh, great breakfast at no cost, free parking (which is unheard of a few blocks closer to convention center where $50/night is standard)... all wonderful. However, yes, the area is quite "rough". We arrived in the evening after dark and noticed the bonfires on the side walks, homeless and less than desirable living conditions. Only after waking up and watching 2 people urinate in the alley view from the window by the elevator and a 3rd taking a squat to do his business did we realize what a problem area it was for not just the unhoused, but crime as well. We never felt unsafe in the hotel, but there is nothing nearby you would want to visit. It's quite sad for such a nostalgic area to be in such a state, not to mention so many people in need. Would we stay again? Depends.. if we had something at the convention center for a night or two? Yes. For a destination location? No. The price is much better than a couple blocks down by the convention center, no parking fee and such a wonderful staff would make us consider to stay again.
