It moved to this 12 story building (same architect as the LA Coliseum) on 7th Street in DTLA in 1912, with 72 overnight guest rooms and suites on the top 3 floors, for members and later the general public. The building underwent a multi-million modernization in 2016. My brother and I had the opportunity to stay here for 2 nights during his LA visit; both of us really enjoyed our stay here. Booked the two weekend nights on the Citi Travel site for 2 nights in a 2 Queen bed room, and prepaid the $544.75. There is a $40.67 per night resort fee as well, which gets charged at the time of checkout. We were able to check-in a bit before the guaranteed time of 4:00 pm (check-out is noon), which was appreciated. However, we realized that we had been given a single queen room, and there were no more doubles available. The mistake was on the Citi Travel side. While I was on the phone with their offshore call center to rectify, we got a call from Raoul from the front desk saying that they could upgrade us to one of the nine club themed suites, each with one bedroom/bath and a separate living room with sofa. We ended up getting the Yacht Club suite, and it was spacious. Both the bedroom and living room had flat tvs, and separate AC for each room (though the bedroom temperature couldn't get to the temperature I wanted as it was a really hot weekend in LA). We drew lots to see who would stay on the sofa. The bathroom was connected directly to the living room, and was older with a tub/shower combo (mediocre shower pressure), older toilet that wasn't the best at flushing, and an outside sink. There was a wet bar in the living room, with a small dorm fridge. Bottled water was in the room for sale, but it was a lot easier to fill up reusable water bottles at the plentiful filtered water dispensers throughout the building. There was also a LA Athletic Club canvas bag for sale, in each room. We didn't have a chance to checkout the many restaurants/bars nor the 2 big fitness centers. Hours are a bit limited on the weekend, as the hotel was relatively quiet during our stay. We were able to use the stretching room on Friday (before we got kicked out at 9pm) and the sauna (when it opened at 8 am on both Saturday and Sunday). I also got to take a dip in the pool (the main Olympic size one being reserved for folks doing laps, but the smaller therapeutic pool was open). The 7th Street Metro station is only 3 blocks away, and we used it to start our journeys around the city. The building is also within the current coverage area of Waymo, so took it to come back after visiting K-Town. The location is really good. Housekeeping is daily and seemed to start pretty early in the morning. There were QR codes throughout the suite, allowing one to pay gratuities to housekeeping (by room number) or front staff (by name), via a credit card. It worked for both, with an option to also pay the 10% processing fee so the recipient gets the full amount. I've never seen this before at any other hotel, and it definitely confirms the human behavior that one will pay larger amounts on a credit card than when having to pay by cash. Many famous celebrities have stayed at this hotel through the years. Perhaps the most famous guest was Charlie Chaplin, who lived here between 1914 and 1918 during his early years of fame. My one regret is that I wish we had spent more time exploring the athletic components of the building; we just had too many other things planned for his short trip. The hotel and the athletic club definitely deserve the exploration.

It's much smaller and more intimate than the Marriott, with a beautiful, eclectic boutique-hotel feel and a lot more personality. The service was excellent everywhere I went. The staff were consistently warm, polite, and helpful, and there were little thoughtful details throughout the hotel. One of my favorites was finding lightly scented cold towels in the refrigerator at the gym. Such a simple touch, but so nice after a workout. One other thing that stood out was the bathroom. It was almost as big as the bedroom! It was incredibly spacious and added to the overall luxurious, boutique feel of the hotel. I also ate at both restaurants and thought the food and service were excellent. But what really won me over happened on a rainy evening. My rideshare stopped across the street, and rather than have me walk through the rain, the valet attendant actually went across the street and asked the driver to turn around and pick me up on the hotel side. Now that's service. Those seemingly little things make a huge difference. The one thing that almost cost them a star: PLEASE put coffee in the rooms! Having to make my way downstairs to get coffee when I hadn't actually had coffee yet felt like a cruel morning paradox. I didn't drive, so I can't speak to parking, although valet service was available. Despite the coffee situation, I really enjoyed my stay and would happily return.

The Bad: -Was unable to reach anyone by the office phone during office hours or the emergency line both during and before office hours. -The toilet would bubble up water and send whatever you had in there to splash back at you. -The shower would also bubble up water and we could not use the shower without worrying if the shower would overflow. -The parking lot in the back is a one lane and can get easily blocked. -The water back pressure issues were not addressed during our stay (we left a message and no response) and after we called both lines and knocked on the office door at check out time the owner finally appeared and told us we didn't have to check out and that we could just leave (check out instructions were clear that was the case) but we wanted some help getting out since our exit was blocked. We explained that we were blocked in and I asked for an explanation for the phones and the lack of working bathroom and the owner explained that it rained last week and they thought it was fixed. That's it. Basically, this is a fine place to stay if everything goes right, but if something goes wrong, don't expect any help from the management of this place. Also don't come here after it rains.

Having been away for 2 years we returned to find a remarkable decline in overall service, with some shockingly careless errors made by staff. *the rooftop pool and bar are still very nice and has a great view. When we arrived around 10:30-11 pm on a Friday we checked in and quickly moved the car down to the garage as there wasn't anyone to take it down for us. Inside the garage, We stopped at the valet "stop here" in the garage and the valet glanced then ignored me, I walked over to him and he said "what? Do you need something?" I told him I was checking in, gave him the name and room number and he seemed genuinely put out by someone asking them to park a car (no self park option) Our room was nice, spacious and clean as always,, the rest of the night was uneventful. I got a call on my cell from the front desk around midnight and called back to find another grumpy employee who when I said "I'm returning a call from this number" told me " we have dozens of rooms how should I know who called you?" I clarified I was returnig their call and they said oh we didn't call. Whatever. That morning as we were checking out we were presented a balance of $75 to cover the $75 nightly parking fee, we handed them a card to put it on and confirmed with them. This card is just for the incidentals, correct? The staff member confirmed that and handed us a printed receipt showing that we had been charged 75 or $78 including tax for our Parking. For background, we prepaid this booking, using our capital one travel portal a month in advance. This was confirmed at check in, and we had a credit for the room too which somehow didn't cover the parking. Just after we got in the car and we're getting on the highway I saw a charge come through for our full room rate for that night, 540 something dollars, on the card we authorized only for parking. We immediately called the hotel told them what had happened, that we had been charged twice. The staff member on the phone (who I believe was the same one who double charged us) was incredibly rude and tried to say it was not a pre paid reservation, we authorized the use of the card, blah blah blah. She put us on hold in the middle of us trying to explain what was going on, after some time we hung up. We called both credit card companies to confirm and we still had two charges totalling over $1100 for one night, so we called the hotel back and got through with a manager who admitted it was their fault, said she would talk to the girl who made the double charge and gave us an inaccurate receipt, but offered no remedy other than "we process the cards at three, it should fall off in the next 48-72 hours" It's sad to see a once nice and pleasant hotel fall down due to poor training and wildly unenthusiastic staff. Hopefully they fix these issues, but despite 10+ stays we will never stay here again. The pool and pool bar are still very nice and seem to be the only well run things in this hotel (other than housekeeping.

Noon on Sunset Hill is a lovely little place near Dodger Stadium and Echo Park. It is a cross…read morebetween a standard hotel (with daily maid service) and an Airbnb (with a shared kitchen and living area). My husband and I stayed for a week while visiting our daughter who lives in Echo Park, so we had a lot of time to get to know it. Here are our thoughts, both pros and cons. PROS: The location is outstanding. The house sits high on a hill above Sunset Blvd. and there is no street noise from that roadway--you can't even see it. The house is accessed from an alley behind it and that was also very quiet, except on trash day. The area is safe and walkable--we walked to downtown LA to see the Grand Central Market and Angels Flight, we walked to Echo Park, and we walked to Dodger Stadium for a baseball game. There are many food options in the neighborhood, too. Some of our favorites were El Compadre (flaming margaritas!), Breakfast Republic, and Sticky Rice. There was also a Little Caesars pizza and a Jersey Mike's sandwich shop for quick meals. Throw in CVS, Lassens Natural Foods (with an amazing hot and cold food bar), a liquor store, a donut shop, a weekly farmers market, and a couple quirky retail stores, and you've got a lovely area to explore. Our room (#6) was comfortable with ample closet and cabinet space. A few more hangers would have been nice, but that is a minor detail. There was a full-length counter on one side of the room with a large kitchen sink, an electric kettle (no coffee maker), instant coffee packets, and assorted teas. A mini-fridge below the counter was nice for keeping beverages, coffee creamer, and food items cold. The daily maid service was nice. Coming back at the end of a long day to a made-up bed and fresh towels was very nice. The coffee and tea were restocked daily. The shared space was large and comfortable. The kitchen area had a full-sized refrigerator as well as sink, range, and oven. There were additional glasses and plates/bowls available, as well as cutlery. We liked sitting at the dining table for breakfast--much better than sitting in a bed. The living area had a nice couch, a coffee table, and a couple chairs, but we didn't really use them. The balcony that overlooks Sunset Blvd. is large, running the whole length of the house, with seating for many people in small clusters. We sat outside occasionally to read and sip a cocktail. CONS: The double bed itself was not as comfortable as I expected. The mattress was thin, as were the sheets and duvet. I suggest an upgrade to the bedding in terms of quality and size. The whole house has bare floors with no carpet or rugs. I know this makes it easier to keep clean, but it also makes it loud. Sound in the shared space carried easily to bedrooms, and even normal walking in the room above ours sounded loud. Perhaps some throw rugs might help dampen the sound. There is little parking. Luckily, we elected to use Lyft/Uber and did not rent a car. There is only room for 3 or 4 vehicles in the alley behind the house. If all those spots are filled, the next available parking is on the street several hundred yards away on Douglas. For us, the pros easily outweighed the cons and we will definitely stay at Noon on Sunset Hill again when we visit our daughter in Los Angeles.

From one, I could see the Hollywood sign in the distance, and from the other, the plaza below. Perfect for an overnight stay. I managed to snag a last-minute reservation at a reasonable rate, just under $300 all in. The room was $243, but those taxes and fees sure add up! One tip: I skipped the hotel's $80 valet parking and used the secure garage beneath the plaza instead. Just $18 for 24 hours. Quite a difference! The location worked out perfectly for our weekend. We stumbled upon a fun event in the plaza Saturday afternoon, enjoyed dinner just around the corner that evening, and visited The Broad the following morning. All in all, a successful little downtown getaway. Comfortable room, friendly staff, convenient location, and a reasonable price for a last-minute booking. I'd happily stay here again! 5 stars!

The desk had an outlet built in but one of the power sources was not working. I had to do some work and needed to plug my laptop into the one working plug. But I also needed my cell phone and wanted to keep it charged. I had to unplug the lamp to use the power supply. There is another plug on the nightstand but that would have meant leaving the phone on the other side of the room and I needed the phone while I was working. But because I had to unplug the lamp, I had to work in the dark (it was evening). I can't remember the last time I was in a hotel room that didn't have USB ports so you could charge your phone at the desk and at the nightstand. I could have called the desk and I'm sure they would have given me another room but I was all settled in. Movies; this is the first time I have been in a hotel of this caliber where you had to pay for movies. Certainly I have been in other hotels where you pay for "some" movies, but not all. Usually there is free Showtime or HBO. No, I didn't travel to watch a movie, but sometimes it's nice when winding down in the evening or to have on in the background when working. They did offer some recent movies and even some that I think are still in theaters. Of course I would expect to pay; but most other top named hotels I would be able to watch movies for free.
