The Silver Dollar Bar is an average-looking bar. I came here recently to celebrate a friend's birthday. All of us ladies thought the music from the live band was screeching so much that we just had to leave. The vibe wasn't there, and the bar just seemed outdated overall. They do have karaoke with their DJ, but the television screen isn't as big as I would've liked. There are a few pool tables and I think I might've seen a dart board as well. Some of their bartenders could be a bit more friendlier, but I could understand they probably are just anxiously waiting to end their shift. If you're looking for cheap drinks in Chula Vista, Silver Dollar might be a good spot! read more

The security is so rude especially the African American guy who was trying to kick me and my brother out 1 hour before closing time and even targeted us by calling us out racional slur . Unacceptable I don't recommend and then even carried us out . read more

Wow! What an improvement! Security guard was so nice and friendly for Taste of Third event. The bartender helping out, he was great! My friend liked the whiskey sour they gave out but to me it tasted like vomit and regret. I would have picked the Mexican Candy drink instead to try. Mario and Tiffany are awesome host! I go to bars often but it's rare to meet a bartender that really gets to know you. This is a hole in the wall but it gets fun with lots of people! I like this bar. Crowd is definitely a little older but for the most part I haven't had too many issues. The music is okay but the bartenders are why we keep coming back. They're always friendly and try to get to everyone in a timely manner. The only bad experience Ive had here was one night a couple weeks back and it seemed like a bunch of people having a mini HS reunion. The crowd was horrible and most of them had a horrible attitude. I wish the bouncers had definitely done a little more because I almost got punched. We definitely will be coming back but maybe beware if you're newer to this bar/area. read more

And my half beer without even saying anything besides no alcohol on the bar after 2. He took it and just threw it away. I'm canceling that transaction. It's bullshit. Small backstory on me, I'm born and bread chula vistain. Skating around 3rd ave and marijuana park since I was 10, hanging out at surf shack (a skate shop that used to be next to the dollar) setting up boxes, a rail, and a half pipe in the back parking lot. I have seen the dollar for what it really is, it's cheers, a place where everybody knows your name (if you come by enough). After high a school I started working at La Bella's (another staple of Chula Vista). Once I turned 21 the dollar became my after work spot and quickly fell in love with the vibe. The bartender Tiffany is always amazing, attentive, and truly cares about customers to the core. As long as you show respect you will get it in return 10 fold. This bar does not tolerate disrespect to the employees or the establishment. After coming here for so long I was offered an opportunity to work here. I honestly love it. It's such a fun environment, it can have its hiccups, as long as your respectful, you will have a great time. I promise. Come ask for Brady, I'll make you a drink and throw you a pass!!! read more

I don't know why the Dollar has so many bad reviews. It's such a great place to dace and socialize. Before COVID-19, I would go almost every weekend and always had a good time. Now with COVID-19 I've been just once and the service was still great. Now I am pregnant and I can't wait until I go back for a lemon drop shot. Keep up the amazing work. Typically I would give 5 stars because the service and environment are always right on time. However recently our usual friends came out for a great night and the bartender with blue hair overcharged us for our drinks and was rude. I attempted to address it with her and she gave even more attitude. I do kit know who she thinks that she is but sadly if she is working, we as regulars will walk out if she is working. Horrible place to go to! Mostly gang affiliated so there is always fights. The bartenders are scammers!!!! They take advantage of anyone who had to much to drink tipping themselves... I personally saw this!! They reuse alcohol bottles and put cheaper liquor in the "high end" bottles. I have had plenty of good times at this bar. But i think it's a place where you should go with friends to make it fun if you go alone or with a date i'm not sure it's as fun. The one thing i really dont like about this place is that they only accept cash... I feel they are a little behind the times it shouldn't be so hard to get the debit credit thing going... Having to stop by the bank befor going here is just a hasle. But once there and after a few drinks it's always fun to get up on stage and make a complete fool of yourself well thats atleast me and my complete inability to keep a note! lol The bar tender is cool and on it she makes the drinks really good to... and keep an eye or an ear out for Spike he can definitely sing especially those area rock songs awesome and classy! read more

Absolutely love coming here! This was one of the bars I went to on my 21st birthday and i am so glad I went! I always have a great time with the juke box or karaoke or even chatting with the bartender, Tiffany. They have very affordable prices and great drinks. Always meet interesting and fun people here as well. Love that I can play pool and it's a great way to meet more people. read more
