The Silver Dollar Bar is an average-looking bar. I came here recently to celebrate a friend's birthday. All of us ladies thought the music from the live band was screeching so much that we just had to leave. The vibe wasn't there, and the bar just seemed outdated overall. They do have karaoke with their DJ, but the television screen isn't as big as I would've liked. There are a few pool tables and I think I might've seen a dart board as well. Some of their bartenders could be a bit more friendlier, but I could understand they probably are just anxiously waiting to end their shift. If you're looking for cheap drinks in Chula Vista, Silver Dollar might be a good spot! read more

Wow! What an improvement! Security guard was so nice and friendly for Taste of Third event. The bartender helping out, he was great! My friend liked the whiskey sour they gave out but to me it tasted like vomit and regret. I would have picked the Mexican Candy drink instead to try. They had live music that was not deafening it was nice! We gave them a tip! read more

The diver bar of all dive bars in Chula Vista. Crowd is what you would expect, but security does a great job. Bar tenders do well keeping up with drinks considering how many people are up along the bar on the average Friday/Saturday. Overall fun times. read more

We were looking for a bar after Rod Stewart had to an cancel his show. We saw the bar and we thought it looked like a cool place. It was! The drinks were a great price and everyone working there were friendly. The DJ played Rod Stewart for us and a bunch of great music. We were glad we found it. Thanks for the fun visit. read more

The security is so rude especially the African American guy who was trying to kick me and my brother out 1 hour before closing time and even targeted us by calling us out racional slur . Unacceptable I don't recommend and then even carried us out . read more

Head of security is amazing ! Good communication very accurate . Jay was the best ! Had a great time at silver dollar

Nice music, good drinks, casual atmosphere. The customers are chill, drinks are good, and music is good. read more

Mario and Tiffany are awesome host! I go to bars often but it's rare to meet a bartender that really gets to know you. This is a hole in the wall but it gets fun with lots of people! Definitely recommend this spot! (Apparently they have karaoke on Tuesday but they have a jukeboxes ox everyday so silver dollar is your oyster!) read more

Silver Dollar - Merry Xmas 2021 - Dive Bars Near Me - Chula Vista, California

This place is an awesome dive bar. It definitely has an awesome feel and the bartenders are super nice. Before coming here we read another yelp review and it said something about the bartender with the blue hair and had only 1 star. I would like to say that the bartender with the blue hair is named Sam and she is a wonderful lady. She was very nice, knows how to pour a good drink. I would definitely recommend this place if you are into dive bars! read more

the drinks in this place look thrown together without a care but the bartenders actually put effort into the drinks which i really like. the patrons are all very friendly, smiles all around, and the vibes here are UNMATCHED. truly recommend, 5/5, 10/10 read more

Sliver Dollar has to be one of the best local bars in my opinion! The customer service is great! It's always a good time no matter what day of the week it is. Whenever my friends and I go and we see one of the bouncers, Jerry, we know we are about to have a good and safe time. read more

I like this bar. Crowd is definitely a little older but for the most part I haven't had too many issues. The music is okay but the bartenders are why we keep coming back. They're always friendly and try to get to everyone in a timely manner. The only bad experience Ive had here was one night a couple weeks back and it seemed like a bunch of people having a mini HS reunion. The crowd was horrible and most of them had a horrible attitude. I wish the bouncers had definitely done a little more because I almost got punched. We definitely will be coming back but maybe beware if you're newer to this bar/area. read more

Is okay to be a place in Chula, plus is one of the most spacious bars. The blonde bartender lady is hella dope! Trust her with my life haha

Great neighborhood bar. The bartend Jasemine has great service.she's Such a great addition to this bar.

It was great! had to check this place out, as I was in the area visiting! the bartenders were great, drinks were great. overall being from newengland this bar felt normal. Reminded me of all the old school dives I went to as a little kid with my pops! keep up the great work. read more

I'm a sucker for a good dive bar. Ignore the review about the girl with the blue hair bc she's actually really nice. I just met her today and she was very pleasant. Fast service, attention to your drinks and atmosphere around you. I've also been here while Tiffany was here and she's great too. read more

I've been coming to silver dollar for about a year now and ever since they went on bar rescue, things have lot been the same. There is absolutely no reason why we should be waiting over 30 min in line for a dive bar. Ridiculous. read more

Charged $12 for Coke in my Jack and Coke cocktails aside from being charged $8 for the cocktails themselves. Who does this!? What a rip off. Bad business practice of the worst kind! Will never go back! read more

I was sold a double shot at 1:45 and as soon as 2 am hit the security threw it in the trash before I even touched it. And my half beer without even saying anything besides no alcohol on the bar after 2. He took it and just threw it away. I'm canceling that transaction. It's bullshit. Bartenders were awesome. read more

Jerry is a 10/10. So kind and we really appreciate him! A great security man and a great guy! The place is great and should def come!

Always a good time to go after move conversation with friends and now we want to dance and enjoy the music

Went here a few weeks ago with friends I grew up with in Chula Vista a total drive bar but we had a fun time

Sam was an absolute pleasure. She too great care of us n our vacation down from LA. If Im ever back in SD I will definitely coming back for her. read more

Cool little Karaoke bar. One bartender can leave you a little thirsty at times but the strength of the drinks makes up for any wait time. You also meet some pretty cool people at the bar while you are waiting. The karaoke set up was pretty cool! I wish I could sing like some of those peeps. Just remember to bring cash! There is an ATM for nerds like me who forget to stop at the bank. read more

This place had very bad service and I don't mean to be racist but they most def served the Mexicans before me I was waiting for like 30 minutes and they still didn't serve me until some spoke up for me ty to that dude but lol yeah XD read more

I don't know why the Dollar has so many bad reviews. It's such a great place to dace and socialize. Before COVID-19, I would go almost every weekend and always had a good time. Now with COVID-19 I've been just once and the service was still great. Now I am pregnant and I can't wait until I go back for a lemon drop shot. Keep up the amazing work. This is my favorite place in Chula. I've made long time friends there and amazing memories. read more

I have had plenty of good times at this bar. But i think it's a place where you should go with friends to make it fun if you go alone or with a date i'm not sure it's as fun. The one thing i really dont like about this place is that they only accept cash... I feel they are a little behind the times it shouldn't be so hard to get the debit credit thing going... Having to stop by the bank befor going here is just a hasle. But once there and after a few drinks it's always fun to get up on stage and make a complete fool of yourself well thats atleast me and my complete inability to keep a note! lol The bar tender is cool and on it she makes the drinks really good to... and keep an eye or an ear out for Spike he can definitely sing especially those area rock songs awesome and classy! read more

The Silver Dollar Bar has been a staple in downtown Chula Vista for years. With the revival of downtown CV it's a must visit on 3rd Ave bar/brewery crawl! With DJ playing old school grooves and a good mix of other music it brings you back to your youth. Great beer selection and drinks are on point. This bar is always a good time!! read more

Silver Dollar - Great selection of beers! - Dive Bars Near Me - Chula Vista, California

Small backstory on me, I'm born and bread chula vistain. Skating around 3rd ave and marijuana park since I was 10, hanging out at surf shack (a skate shop that used to be next to the dollar) setting up boxes, a rail, and a half pipe in the back parking lot. I have seen the dollar for what it really is, it's cheers, a place where everybody knows your name (if you come by enough). After high a school I started working at La Bella's (another staple of Chula Vista). Once I turned 21 the dollar became my after work spot and quickly fell in love with the vibe. The bartender Tiffany is always amazing, attentive, and truly cares about customers to the core. As long as you show respect you will get it in return 10 fold. This bar does not tolerate disrespect to the employees or the establishment. After coming here for so long I was offered an opportunity to work here. I honestly love it. It's such a fun environment, it can have its hiccups, as long as your respectful, you will have a great time. I promise. Come ask for Brady, I'll make you a drink and throw you a pass!!! read more

Horrible place to go to! Mostly gang affiliated so there is always fights. The bartenders are scammers!!!! They take advantage of anyone who had to much to drink tipping themselves... I personally saw this!! They reuse alcohol bottles and put cheaper liquor in the "high end" bottles. Bathrooms are always excessively dirty pr put of Bad place all the way around! ..... love the way the sorry manager and bartender are mad at the review and after I SAID I WILL NO LONGER BE GOING IN TO THE ESTABLISHMENT.... the manager said im not welcome ..... scamming????? Im sorry how is it scamming if I paid the $78 in cash for our 6 white claws and 2 beers and tipped $22 to the bartender..... then on top of that you guys charged my card an additional $78..... how am i scamming anyone? read more

Typically I would give 5 stars because the service and environment are always right on time. However recently our usual friends came out for a great night and the bartender with blue hair overcharged us for our drinks and was rude. I attempted to address it with her and she gave even more attitude. I do kit know who she thinks that she is but sadly if she is working, we as regulars will walk out if she is working. Blue hair, rude, overcharged, and ZERO concern for patrons. read more

Absolutely love coming here! This was one of the bars I went to on my 21st birthday and i am so glad I went! I always have a great time with the juke box or karaoke or even chatting with the bartender, Tiffany. They have very affordable prices and great drinks. Always meet interesting and fun people here as well. Love that I can play pool and it's a great way to meet more people. read more

Used to be the go to spot. We got Into a talking match with some peeps and got a lifetime ban for it, while the other cats didn't get anything.
