After hearing about Horizon Plaza, I crossed my fingers hoping to find some good outlet mall prices. Bumps to Babes has a pretty substantial space for Hong Kong standards, and the price tags don't hit your wallet TOO hard! To give you an idea, the cheapest crib that I liked in Central was going for $4400. Starting prices for the cribs here were at $2000 (mattresses ranging from $250-4000), and with additional discounts they went as low as $1500. They have a good stroller variety, too. The cheapest stroller that I had my eye on in Central was going for $1950 and it was a brand I was unfamiliar with. We were able to find a Maclaren that we really liked for $1900, so we ended up getting it. In addition to furniture, you can also find accessories, baby clothing, maternity clothing, toys, and books, a lot of them discounted. Overall, I thought this store was worth the trek out to Ap Lei Chau for and I highly recommend parents with newborns or toddlers to check this place out if they're looking to save some cash!

Aside from their own brands, they also sell other products such as prams, car seats and a whole host of other items to cater for parents who have no idea what they should be getting. The shops are uniform in design- you will always recognize the shops by their clean cut (always white with wooden floors) and warm design; the general idea seems to be make you feel at home as much as possible. Their main emphasis is on cots and prams- these items take up around 3/4 quarters of this particular shop in Tsuen Wan and most people do come here for that. In some other shops they may even have a demonstration area for car seats and they actually have a seat taken from a car to show you how to fit the seat in. Pricing wise they will not be the cheapest in town but if you could not be bothered to search high and low for one single item and then repeat everything for the next; this is a pretty good place to start with. As mentioned the other brands that they sell are all European brands (eg. Maxi-Cosi) so quality should not be an issue. The sales staff are very helpful and you see this physically as they always haul everything down for you to see no matter which high or heavy that item is. If you plan to buy $4000 or more then you should join their club as that will give you an extra discount instantly.

Of course keep your eye out for inappropriate, or just plain wrong (not always the same thing) English language on dresses and T-shirts - although lets face it, sometimes that's half the fun ... especially if they are going to be gifts. It's a store catered to the "western taste" so very tasteful, fashionable and clothes that are so well thought out that they can be used after baby has arrived! They have the loveliest lace dresses for evening events too! Mind you, items sold here are of great quality so expect to pay an average about 800-900 for a dress. At most you could spend 1,400 for a dress. But you will get LOTS of wear from it. So I'd consider it money well spent. They also carry beautiful maternity lace bras and underwear that average about 400 per bra. They also have lotions and organic oils and the bebe au lait breast feeding cover - the best breast feeding baby cover ever! If you want a in-store personal shopper, they offer this, so make an appointment. My new go to maternity store!

Instead, we see the same old chain stores everywhere no matter you are in Tuen Mun or Central. They are basically the same now. Therefore, it is pretty hard to come by a souvenir shops that look a bit... old school and not as fancy - Amelia's. What I like about this place is it is pretty down to earth. Nothing fancy and it is definitely not a brand that will set their products at a ridiculous price. Instead, it just looks like one of those stationeries you have next to your school. However, this is a rather spacious shop and they have an array of gifts, school supplies, art supplies and stationery. If your friend is not one of those people who are obsessed with brand names, you can definitely find a gift of your choice here. As a matter of fact, the greeting cards are pretty ordinary but are rightly so with the rather cheap prize. They also have stuffed animals and toys. Honestly, I personally believe this kind of shop is definitely needed in each district, or should I say, next to all schools? International Chains like Muji are not that important for a teen, (they do sell nice pens and stuff but having nice pens will not give you a high mark anyways). Regardless, I do hope that these kinds of shops will survive in the midst of everything nowadays as our next generations do need a place where they can buy a pen with just 3 dollars.

That was why I always liked the big plush sofas because they were very much like beds which I could take a nap on whilst I waited. Nowadays though, things take a different turn when you get to a furniture shop. You do think about style, not just getting the biggest one but will it fit? Will the seat move up and turn into an easy chair? Is it electric? What colours are there and whats the material made of. You suddenly realize that you have turned into your parents and you are asking all the unimportant questions. The most important question should be: could I take a nap on it? Sofamark does a great job at this and they have a huge range of big plus sofas which is why I prefer this place. They don't do the pretensive Philip Stark I'm sveedish showroom stuff but good old fashioned ones that hug around you. Isn't that what you need in every sofa? Staff were nice to me and were willing to cater for me darting around from sofa to sofa and prices were what I would say as fair.

The range is not limited to prams and playpens, it also sells small items such as books and small toys which is convenient for anyone in Central just wanting to pick out a few things. Indeed there are many shops similar to this one springing up all over town with that many brands to match. Cosmo Beebies differ from the majority of these new shops as a more practical choice for parents who want good quality products, stylish items yet at reasonable prices.
