My fiance and I came here for a free tasting sponsored by "Talk of the Town." The "farm" is owned by the catering company and wow does it look amazing. You first drive down a short dirt/grass road before entering the parking lot (grass). From the hill you can see the venue and the small barn behind it. The venue itself is very easy on the eyes and can supposedly fit up to 200 guests (if you include the walk way on each side). The tasting event itself was fantastic. There were plenty of other couples and families there at the same time but because the venue can fit up to 200 people you have plenty of room. I won't mention what he tasted here since it may be private to the catering company but their food was great. Some foods outshone others but overall I would be happy to consider them as my main caterer for my future wedding. The decor inside the venue was probably the best part of the experience for me. It had a real southern look to it while still keeping it classy. The venue is real tidy and you can tell they keep it very well maintained. I myself would consider having a reception or rehearsal dinner here in the fall but in the summer it would probably get real hot (ATL outdoor wedding in the summer? oh boy...) since there isn't any AC. Overall, this experience has definitely set the bar high! If you're into outdoor weddings or want to have some sort of event with a barn I would highly suggest Silver City Farm! read more

We had a wedding event here recently during which my wife took a horrific fall from the irregularly designed steps leading into the main building - Talk of the Town- Catering and Special Events, general manager, Richard Boughton, glibly stated that "they were out of it and would let the attorneys and insurance" handle it - meantime, our medical expenses mount due to their negligence. Condescending, uncaring attitude and extremely unsafely constructed steps into facility. The "watch your step" sign plastered on the door speaks volumes regarding their knowledge of the issue...... read more

This venue is oh so close to being 5 star (and I may just be being picky). I attended a wedding there this past weekend. First of all, my overall visual impression of this place is 5 star. It has a gorgeous country flair to it while still staying classy when it's needed. The barn and outside areas have a rustic feel and have some rustic decor (gorgeous for pictures) but enter the barn area where receptions take place and the venue transforms into a bit more upscale feel to it. The round tables are decorated beautifully and are the perfect size for conversing with everyone seated at each one. The bride and groom are able to have their small table in front of the fireplace and facing their guests during the meal time. The meal was a buffet for this wedding and I thought the variety of food offered was adequate. I really liked that there was a balance (which I understand they encourage on their website) of food options... vegetables, meat entrees and carbs. I eat mostly plant based but did try a bit of the chicken and it was very moist and flavorful (did not try the pulled pork but many said it was very good). I loved the vegetable options but was a bit surprised they opted to serve a cool raw vegetable dish in February rather than a steamed or lightly sauteed one (which I would have appreciated in the cooler weather). The hot green beans were a bit oily for my taste but flavorful. The rolls were very good. There might have been one or two other food options that I cannot remember because I did not try them. The wedding cake served was very flavorful (tasted almost as good as Whole Foods cakes... which I consider a big compliment because they are my all time favorite cake when I purchase a cake). The only negative part of the cake is I thought the frosting was a tad bit too sweet. However, I love this kind of frosting so much better than a cream cheese or whipped topping type frosting. I am not sure if there are options with the cake and if the cake is made in house with the venue or a separate vendor (so keep that in mind). The dance floor is a little small if you have a really big wedding planned but for the size wedding I attended it was adequate. Due to the weather, cooler temps in February, I would recommend they add a couple of portable heaters to the reception area (they could even be wheeled out to the outside wedding area and be welcomed by guests for sure). The large working fire place in the barn reception area is a nice touch but only generates heat if you are near it (and it is located in front of the dance floor). Those who are sitting at the tables (and maybe not dancing or while the food is being served) can get chilly since there is no heat or A/C available and the walls must not be insulated. A nice reprieve is that the bathroom located near the dance floor has a small portable heater in it... thank goodness. I am not sure if it is possible but, if it is, I would recommend they change the access road to their parking area. It feels odd to drive down a long dirt road (not because it is a dirt road) but because you feel like you are invading on people's private property. There are small homes very close to the parking area and there is a fork in the road where left takes you to the parking lot and right literally takes you into a couple of people's yards (with trees slightly blocking this so I could see someone mistakenly going right into their yard/driveway areas and then having to backup). A sign with an arrow so no one takes the wrong side of the fork might be more helpful but if there were anyway to have a different access method, that might be even better. They have a golf cart that transports guests from the parking lot to the venue area which is very helpful in hot or cold weather or if elderly guests attend the wedding. Overall the venue is beautiful and there are so many little touches that make it unique and special. I found the staff to be wonderful, too. I recommend it! read more

I came here for a catering tasting event. Talk of the Town catering company owns this venue space. My review is on the space and not the catering. It is SO cute if you're into the barn-style theme. There is a really nice stone wall with fireplace on the far end of the barn. There is pretty large bar right when you first enter. About 10-12 large circular tables (seating maybe 8-10) fit inside, but there wouldn't be enough space for a large dance floor. You can put more tables on the porch area which is fine because the outer walls open up so guests can still see inside. The twinkling lights on the ceiling give it a perfect romantic touch. There's plenty of parking spaces for guests as well as lawn space for more tables or lawn games. The surrounding houses in the area add to its charm. The one thing I would be worried about is not having AC for my guests. It's a pretty open building, but my fiancee and I were sweating just walking around to get food. Having an event here would probably be most ideal when it isn't muggy and 90deg out. If I was the type to have a barn-style wedding, this would be perfect!
