The service was great! Given a full pot of tea while I waited for my takeout order... prices are good and the food is Outstanding! I ordered the hot and Sour Soup and found it very tasty. Their Barbecue spare ribs very meaty and the sauce was great. Lastly I came back for a second night to order for a second time the Sliced Chicken w/Sweet & Sour Ginger, which was listed under the section on the take menu titled Gourmet Entrees.... I should have read the recent reviews before buying $50 worth of their food. Only four pieces of pounded chicken in my meal and Bunch of saturated vegetables in a bland brown sauce. Was suppose to be peppered chicken extra spicy, was no flavor at all. Also order sweet and sour chicken and won tons. Even though I've lived in the area my whole life I'd never been here before so me and my mom decided to stop in for lunch today. The place has a nice ambiance and we chose to sit at one of the tables inside its own little hut. The staff was attentive and made sure we were taken care of. We got crab and cream cheese wantons and scallion pancake appetizers which were both delicious the pancakes were fresh made and crispy and the wantons had a great crunch. I got the twice cooked pork Lunch special which came with fried rice. The fried rice side was simple but good and the pork was incredible. It had an amazing flavor and the outside had a nice bite while remaining tender. We were very happy with our meal and we hope to be able to come by more often read more

Silver Chopsticks is probably your best option for Chinese food in the Wheeling area, and they are just as good at dine-in as they are at take-out. I got take-out from here three times before dining in, so I had a pretty good idea of what I was going to get food-wise: good quality Chinese food with reasonably good portions. The dine-in service was quite good, and I enjoyed sitting in the little gazebos they have as their booths. It made for a very private experience, which is an underappreciated quality for restaurants to have these days. The value here is good, not overpriced by any stretch of the imagination. Parking situation is good, and I doubt they ever get slammed to the point where you might have a hard time with that. All things considered, Silver Chopsticks is definitely the first place that should come to mind when you want Chinese food in the Ohio county area. Food was horrible. No flavor and the restaurant reeked of cigarettes. The smell followed me home in the bags. Really disappointed. I've gone there in the past and it was a decent experience. Service was fine, a bit cold depending on who you talked to but were nice enough. Food was absolute waste of close to $50 with most of it ending up in the trash. Seems like a silly question doesn't it? You'd be silly and cheating yourself if you don't get here for the lunch buffet. And I usually run from buffets like Typhoid was chasing me. However, just stopping in for to-go, I got the warmest welcome and chose to stay. Soooo happy that I did. The food was good, especial for a buffet. So in no way look upon 3-stars as negative. Okay so I'll admit I have a bid soft spot for the Silver Chopsticks. My wife and I found it sixteen years ago while honeymooning at Oglebay Resort in Wheeling WV. We have been back several times over the years. We fell in love with the Hot and Sour Seafood soup for two, it's super spicy and loaded with shrimp, crab and scallops. The egg & spring rolls are some of the best we've had. The staff has always been friendly and throughout the years the restaurant itself has seemed to been well maintained. We stopped in many years ago before you could have a review at the touch of your fingertips and we're glad we did. read more

I've lived in Wheeling for 10 years and for some reason have never eaten here; probably because there is another Chinese restaurant we like closer to where we used to live. But after months of driving by since moving we decided to order. This part is the only negative I can say, which is nice to get it out early. There was a discrepancy in the menu where the Mongolian steak says it's topped with crispy noodles, but there were no noodles. Which stunk but the real negative was the fact they wanted a $6 delivery fee to drive 3 miles. I just choose to make the drive myself. When you walk in you notice the old architecture of the building. It has an old, worn feeling too it but it's not a bad thing. There's even a bar when you walk in, again not a bad thing at all. The decor is a little well worn, and I do feel a touch of modernization while embracing the old building would go along way but it seemed clean and overall nice. The food itself was really good. I ordered the sesame chicken. The skin was crispy and the sauce was sweet but not over powering, I was a little disappointed the rice seemed a little undercooked. I'm a fan of the typical fat sticky rice you usually get but it still paired nicely. We also ordered the Mongolian steak, as I mentioned above. It really reminded me of a classic American steak with gravy, but the sauce had a flavor I can't place. The fried rice paired with it well, but was undercooked and hard like the white rice was. All-in-all if you're looking for good, fairly priced Chinese food I would recommend giving this place a try. It likely won't be the best Chinese food you've ever had, but it's definitely a great choice. As a note they have a lunch buffet but I've never eaten it so I can't speak to the quality of it. Everything about the restaurant is mediocre: the decor, the service, the speed of service, and the food. The restaurant had no drinking glasses available, so our water was served in styrofoam cups. My wife's entree was delivered well before mine. The menu is pricey for the quality of the dishes. We had scallion pancake, egg roll (no duck sauce at the table, none provided or offered), roast pork egg foo young, and a beef, chicken, and vegetable dish. Portion sizes were satisfactory. The prices are comparable with fine restaurants. I now have a renewed appreciation for some of the Chinese restaurants in my area. read more

One of my favorite go-tos in Wheeling! A great spot to come with friends and enjoy dinner and each other's company. My favorites include the General Tsos, the Sesame Chicken, the Chow Fun, the dumplings, and the crab Rangoon. The fried rice is also fantastic! I don't understand how this place is hanging in there. When you walk into the dining room, it looks like it hasn't been cleaned for 6 years, so we decided to get food to go, instead. We ordered food, and it didn't come with many things listed on the menu (like sides of noodles, veggies, etc). We asked about it, and they said "oh, we haven't had that for YEARS"....but can't explain why it's still on the menu. The prices online are much lower than what they charge you (but they won't itemize the prices so you can't tell easily). When we expressed frustration that they didn't give us food listed in the item description, they grew very angry with us, stopped talking to us entirely, handed us some cash back and stomped away. Not like an apology, or offering a side of rice instead of the noodles, just super angry that we had the nerve to ask for the food we paid for. Which, by the way, somehow has no flavor. This place has THE BEST Chinese food I've ever had. Their crab rangoons are AMAZING and the General Tso's Chicken is delicious and the portions are very generous. Whenever I go for the lunch buffet these 2 items are pretty much all I consume. I'm puzzled by the negative comments by other Yelpers, I've been going here for many years and have always had nothing but the best food & service. Stop in one evening for dinner, sit back in one of the covered booths, order yourself a "Fog Cutter" (but only one unless you have a DD!) and enjoy some amazing Chinese food. read more

It's just gotten worse. I was told it was an extra $7 to add egg to my fried rice. Needless to say I just made my own egg. The staff were unfriendly on the phone and in person. The rice was very bland. The general tsos chicken was fatty. The sauce definitely had zero spice to it and tasted awful. Definitely worse than last time, and last time my egg didn't cost $7. I spent a month in China touring the country in college, so I ate a lot of Chinese food in China. Silver and golden chopsticks' food tastes the most authentic to actual Chinese food that I have tasted in America. And luckily, it's in my home town. The restaurant isn't dirty. It has a dark ambiance, but it's not dirty, it's just not bright and airy like Panera bread. The bad reviewers probably just aren't used to actual Chinese food in a traditional atmosphere. They are true to their roots. The food is delicious and the lunch prices are unbeatable. You also get a LOT of food. This is the best Chinese food in the region. But if you have a stick up your butt you won't enjoy it. read more

I love this place. Their crab rangoons are some of the best I have ever had, General Tso's Chicken is delicious, and the eggrolls are excellent. Service is good and the food always comes out quick and is fresh. I recommend going for the lunch buffet. It's small for a typical Chinese buffet, but the selection is still good and the quality is much better than other Chinese buffets. I always make a point to go here fore lunch when i am back in town visiting. I've been all over the place, and lived in Pittsburgh and now San Diego, but Silver Chopsticks is still my go to restaurant for good Chinese food. Where to start. This wasn't even the worst Chinese food, it was the worst FOOD I've ever eaten. The place was filthy, the table, the glasses, the silverware...everything. My server was clueless. I asked for steamed chicken and vegetables and she said, "wait what? What are you ordering?" I repeated it and showed her in the menu and she asked, "you mean you want your chicken steamed?" Like it was the most disgusting thing she had ever heard of...then promptly followed it up with, "I didn't even know we had that." Wth?! Who says that to a customer. The food came out and it was beyond awful. I wasn't even going to attempt to eat it because of how dirty the place was, but I was embarrassed to walk out. I couldn't even eat the sauce I got on the side. It was so salty it had no other flavor than salt. Gross. Disgusting. And there was an over served patron at the bar being loud and drunk at 2:30 in the afternoon. Please, whoever owns this place, do yourself a favor and close. You are gonna get someone sick or get yourself sued. I don't know how the health inspector even lets this place stay open. read more

Silver Chopsticks has claimed to have exactly the same menu and preparing practices as Golden Chopsticks, another Chinese restaurant in Wheeling, but this is not true. Were seated quickly and our appetizer came quickly. I guess we ordered COLD egg rolls, cause that is what we got. Our server said our meal would be right out. Move ahead 20 minutes and our server finally reappeared with 2 entrees that we did not order. She seemed quite irritated that we did not order what she brought to us. Another 10 minutes and she reappeared with our order. Again, I must have ordered cool,tasteless shrimp, cause that is what we got. Below par food combined with service that was lackluster at best means it will be a cold day in the underworld before I return. 1 star because they 6 open. read more

I stopped by here the other day with my sister for a quick dinner. I was a little nervous because some of the reviews but I wanted to try it. When I got in there the hostess was really rude, she just stared at us for a minute before coming over and seating us. The guy who poured our water was rude as well. Then our waitress was was rude barely listening to our order and not stopping when she asked if we needed something just running by us. We ordered general tso's chicken with fried rice. the chicken was actually really good. but the rice had no flavor and had to be mixed with the sauce to be good. over all.
