This is now the only place I go to for brakes, even after moving to San Francisco I will happily drive to Napa for their exceptional pricing and service. Earlier this week I went to Les Schwab for an inspection and was told my brake job would cost over $400. I decided to call Silver Auto just in case since I had work done there before, and made an appt for an inspection. Their customer service was super friendly and mellow, and the cost ended up being less than half of what I was quoted at Les Schwab! Also, I was told I needed parts at LS that I actually didn't need. As a woman who isn't an idiot around cars but doesn't know everything, I HIGHLY recommend Silver Auto as a place you can trust to not get ripped off or uphold. It took less than two hours to finish the inspection and job, GREAT conversation, quiet seating area. Overall an excellent experience and I'll never go anywhere else! read more

I hate dealing with anything car related. Most of these auto places are completely dishonest this one included. They tell me to call around & get price quotes from other people when my car is dead & already been towed to your shop. First off they charge me a 100% mark up on the electronic sensor they replaced in my car. I found the identical part listed at AutoZone for $239 & and they charged me $406 stating it was the list price. I call back & ask about it & Maui gives me some run around about the warranty & same day delivery. If I would have known those 2 things were going to cost $170 I would have took an uber to pick up the part myself & saved $150. I am super angry about the way these guys do business & think they are doing me a huge favor by taking $45 off the labor cost when they charge me $235 to run a diagnostic & for labor. I think people just let this go and accept what these guys say. Do your research first people. Lesson learned but it's late because now I am broke. Thanks for stressing me out!! The car runs again but that is besides the point. Who knows for how long!łlł So I went back and added a star because I am happy to have my vehicle back but I am still pissed & this changes nothing. Professional. Thoughtful. Reasonably priced-- I'd call it below average but not cheap. Family friendly. When they make an appt they keep it and get you in and out quickly. I love that the oil change sticker includes key info like next major service date. Told us what we needed to fix and what could wait a couple of months. Value-added service all around. Charged me over $100 just to plug in the diagnostic machine and give me a code. No repair whatsoever. Even after corresponding with the Manager, no refund, just a promise that my labor would be free if I chose to go ahead with a $1300 that costs $450 from most dealers. I don't know where the good yelp reviews came from. I'd suggest you RUN away from this shop. They couldn't even get the report printed out without me having to wait 20 minutes. read more

I originally reviewed these guys in 2013. When I said they have my business (and referral) for life, I meant it! Fast forward 4 years and I am still bringing my car here. I drive a 2005 Lexus RX-330. I started hearing strange noises and brought my car in (that day, because they are awesome). Turned out my car needed a new alternator. I received a phone call later that day that there had been an issue in replacing my alternator and something else was affected. Long story short, they called me and were honest and fixed the new issue completely complimentary!! I hate to think this, but other mechanics could have easily told me that they 'found another problem' that I would have been forced to pay for. I probably wouldn't have even questioned it since as mentioned, I drive an older car and I know repairs to various parts of my car will happen. The staff at Silver Auto are as honest as it gets. Not to mention they are always happy and so easy to get along with. I didn't think this was possible, but at Silver Auto you get unbeatable prices, honesty and incredible workmanship. My two main go-to shops were closed because it was a Saturday and I was in a bind. I was lucky enough to have a tow-truck driver who knew his stuff. We came in there and Pat had room. My car was over heating which stressed me out because everything I was googling was showing that it was going to be very expensive to fix and of course, I assumed it would be the worst of the possible problems. I found Silver Auto Service through yelp and I am so glad I did. Maui, the manager assisted me through the whole process. I was able to come in same day for the estimate which was very reasonably priced. He explained to me that my thermostats needed to be replaced and that if I wanted I could have the whole assembly redone which would have been more costly but wasn't needed. He went as far as to show me where in my engine the problem was and explained it to me in a way that even I could understand (I know zero about cars or engines). He made me feel at ease about the repairs and not taken advantage of because of my lack of knowledge which was a concern of mine. The repairs were done in a day and I was able to pick up my car and be on my way. Not only was the customer service outstanding, the prices were very fair. I will most certainly be returning in the future for any and all repairs needed. read more

I am so very satisfied with my experience at Silver Auto Service. I've had my car for a little over 10 years and plan to keep it for as long as it'll stay kicking. I haven't had my car checked out in quite some time and when it had some trouble starting a few days ago, I knew I had to get it checked out. I am new to the Napa area and wanted to find a place that made it easy for a not-so-knowledgeable car person. I got on Yelp and Silver Auto Service was that place. I requested an appointment via their online portal, received a call same day from Maui, he asked additional questions about what I was looking to get serviced (he was very patient with me & my vague description of what I needed), he narrowed it down to what he thought would be best to check out and scheduled an appointment for the next morning. The location was easy to find, drop off was quick, got a courtesy call from Maui of their findings & recommendations on what work should be done, gave the 'go ahead' for the fixes, he gave me the price for the work very quickly, and repairs were completed a few short hours later. Everyone I interacted with was very nice, this place is so efficient, and they really did make everything so easy for me. I plan to make this my go-to car servicing spot! read more

I want to thank Pat and the staff at Silver Auto for giving me great service once again. I typically do most of the maintenance on my work truck, but when my shocks started to sag and I needed a little more major service, I dropped in and got excellent service at a really good rate. Pat correctly assessed that I probably carry more than an average load on a fairly regular basis in my pickup and that Monroe has a shock absorber with a load-assist feature. These guys are so great! We used them because they were in the Napa Valley Savings Card book, but after bringing my car there a couple of times I am so happy to have found them. I don't really trust mechanics and these guys seem so trustworthy. They do great work and got my car back to me quickly. The last repair was more than we thought because there were a few more problems that needed to be fixed and I was not able to pay the full amount. They were nice enough to give us the keys and we were able to pay them 1/2 and then 1/2 the next week. Thank you so much. I don't know of any other business that would do that. I am so grateful to find a great shop and I will always bring my cars there and I will recommend them to everyone. I was very pleased with my first experience. New to the area, I did not know any repair shops here when my car stopped miles from home. AAA gave me several places to consider, but when I asked the tow truck driver for his personal opinion he referred me to Silver Auto even though they are not AAA listed, which seemed to say a lot. I also noticed they had a lot of cars parked outside waiting for service, including trucks from local businesses, really a good sign. Over the phone they determined it was not the timing belt or water pump as I thought and advised me to tow it there without any pressure. They just said they would appreciate my business if I chose them. I was very worried about the cost of a major repair, but in the end felt reassured they treated me fairly. They showed me the radiator was leaking not the water pump, and it was the drive belt not the timing belt that broke. Apparently, two separate issues I had misdiagnosed for myself. I also feared I would have to rent a car to get home and use over the weekend, but they actually offered me the free use of their mini-van. I used it overnight, but didn't need it for the weekend because the owner stayed late on a Thursday night to fix my car himself, and I got it back on Friday. I'd say I was in the worst possible situation not knowing anything about this shop initially, but everything turned out well. They gave courteous service on the phone, then solid diagnosis with clear explanation, showing me the parts, a written estimate, etc. They did give me a list of additional repairs needed, but in an honest manner, without pressure to do them all at once. I felt informed rather than given a sales pitch. Only issue about this shop is the lack of good marketing. They were apparently called Silverado Auto Repair under a different owner, but changed to Silver Auto Service when the current owner took over. That goes back a few years, but is not clear when you search them online. Anyway, this is my endorsement of SILVER AUTO SERVICE in Napa based on my direct experience.
