Everyone has their own experiences and I cannot say my experience with this company will be what you will experience but I appreciate Geovanny and his team so much. I had a house fire and needed a CUSTOM WHOLE HOUSE re build. I had another contractor I was going to work with but heard one thing about Geovanny from a neighbor who had their house remodeled from him...they said he always fixes his mistakes if you find issues. That to me is GOLD in a day and age where contractors just leave you hanging dry. Geo gave me a bid and stuck with that bid. He didn't upcharge me as time went on. I am a designer at heart and everything in my house is custom...kitchen design, fireplace, kitchen hood, cabinet, bathroom showers, stairs....EVERYTHING...and Geo made it all happen. I hired a separate glass railing stair company who SCAMMED me but Geo helped me get what I could and came up with ideas with Tavo to make it work. Out of the kindness of his heart, Geo also gave me dream bathrooms at his expense. There's NO way I could have the house I have without him and Tavo. If you know exactly what you want, they can make it happen. Was it a problem free experience? It never is....BUT Geo will talk through issues and do what he can to fix every concern I have and continue to. Are they perfect? No human is, but what I was looking for is someone who would be willing to finish the work and not run away when issues arise. I would recommend hiring Sheena to help with all the design work and make sure that there is VERY clear communication between parties. Visit the project regularly to make sure everything is the way that you want it and vocalize any concerns you have. Geovanny has the best heart and I would hire him again. read more

They are so easy to work with, the estimates are always accurate, the workmanship is always excellent, they are easily accessible and they have always finished the job on time. Had a scheduled estimate appointment for a Saturday at noon and 45 minutes before Dave called to say he just woke up (after 10am) and was unable to come as he was "dizzy". Cancelling about 45 minutes before the scheduled estimate that I had been waiting to do all morning. Lost my business and any recommendation. Don't want to work with a company who cancels last minute on just the estimate. read more

These guys were recommended to us by a friend who used them for a remodel a few years back. Obviously something has changed since then. Maybe they lost some key people or something. Bid was given to us by Dave Clarke, and he seems like a good guy. Problem is he is not involed in the actual execution of the work. There was a complete lack of supervision from the start. The workers would show up and asked us what they were suppose to do. Many items got started wrong and had to be torn a apart and redone. For example, we had provided a sketch of the configuration of the laundry room cabinets. For some reason it wasn't followed. They corrected it. but now the end cabinet has 10 holes in the side from where it was incorrectly screwed to another cabinet. Also laundry room closet was supposed to have shelving built in it. Workers installed a closet pole. The casing around our bedroom doors was suppose to be alder wood. Workers started putting the MDF casing around it. So that all had to be torn off and redone. It was never made clear to us who was in charge or the POC. The finish carpenters's were pitiful, The crown molding they put up on the laundry room cabinets was chipped, splintered, and has big gaps on the corners, I could have done a better job with a handsaw. The travertine top they installed was fab'd on site, which should have been a red flag. The sink cut out looks very amatuer and looks to have been poorly freehanded. They also installed my bathroom vanity with no end filler piece. So when the door casing was put on the drawers could not be opened. Wouldn't have been a big deal to fix it except the granite top was already installed. Jaime, the alleged supervisor, initial idea to fix it was to CUT THE DRAWERS. So I had to get Dave Silva over and we ended up removing the granite, sliding the cabinet down and having another backsplash piece fabbed. The other vanity they put in has a big crack in the side of it. Paid alot of money for nice vanities just to have them beat up by their carpenters. There are lots of other issues but I'm sure you are getting my point. The quality of the work in general was really bad and no one (except us) was reviewing it. I must say the painters were pretty good. They actually painted a lot more than they were suppose to. The other subs really beat things up and the painters repainted these areas because they wanted it to look good. The problem was when the other subs came back to fix issues they beat up the paint again. It was this neverending cycle and there was no Silva supervisor any where in sight. The only time Jaime showed up was to get a payment. He was all over that and sometimes wanted payments before the specific event in the contract was done! There was a total lack of coordination and communication on there end.. We became so frustrated in dealing with them and all the quality issues we just wanted them out. We just conceded we were going to have to have some thing redone, because we just were not going to get there with these guys. I had planned to have them remodel my master bath and even got a quote from them. But after this fiasco I can't even fathom how they would handle a large tile job and installing cabinets and granite. Lesson learned about contractors is only contract one thing at a time, that way if it doesn't go well you find a different one. When I paid the final bill they asked us to fill out a Work Completion form with comments. Obviously we voiced our dissatisfaction. Got an email from Dave Silva 5 days later wanting to "better understand why we were so disatisfied so he could address the issues within his own company so it doesn't happen again". Claims he had no idea we were that unhappy. Sent him back a detailed list of all the issues with lots of pictures. After 10 days I got an email from him and he agreed with us that the quality was totally unacceptable, I wanted some money back to get the issues repaired by someone qualified, but he said he couldn't do that. He wanted to send the same guys back that goofed it up in the first place. We were not having any of that as we had no faith in their ability not to damage something else. I do not think there are enough superlatives in the English language to describe how wonderful the people are at Silva Construction and the exemplary work they do. A PREVIOUS contractor skipped an important step when building my house and the front was about to collapse. We hired Dave and his team and they did the most professional job, on time and under budget. Every subcontractor was completely trustworthy, excelled at their job and were kind and considerate. My house was worthy of Architectural Digest when Silva Construction completed the job! And Silva Construction stands by their work. A small problem came up 9 years later and Dave was Johnny on the spot and completed all repairs FOR FREE. You cannot hire a more professional, competent, friendly team! read more

I hope they changed their way of doing business, but I was not pleased. They did work for me a few years ago: Total bathroom remodel and new kitchen counter: tile. It was a disaster. The initial staff who came out for the demo and carpenters only spoke spanish, so I could not communicate much. They did crappy work. Here are examples; they attempted to install base cabinets into drywall- not studs. After the cabinets were attached correctly I checked the work and saw the cabinet was not flush to the corner wall leaving a 1/2 inch gap. the worker said, "Dont worry, I can fill that with a piece of wood." I looked into the gap with a flashlight and saw shims between the cabinet and wall!!! I was irritated that I had to point out that out!!! I made them remove the cabinets, clear out the shims, and reinstall them. Who knew, the cabinets were then flush with the wall !!!! After the work was supposedly finished, my shower did not drain. I opened the drain cover and felt the rubber liner blocking the drain, so after I cut a hole into it, the water still did not drain. I looked into the drain with a flashlight and I noticed also that the drain was filled cement and debris from the demo. I demanded the owner Dave to someone to fix this. I also came in on one of the workers installing plywood to the kitchen counter between a wall and another cabinet. This plywood piece was initially cut too short and there was about a 2 inch gap on one side of the cabinet. He was already screwing this piece of plywood down. When I alerted him to the problem, he reassured me that that would not affect the tile. I insisted that he install a new plywood. So he did. Upon installation of the new plywood, he was pounding it in so hard with a rubber mallet; the piece clearly did not fit this time- it was too big. This caused all the existing lower cabinets to shift diagonally and my doors were off kilter. He did not want to remove this piece. I demanded Dave to look at this before the tile is applied. (At this point I am exhausted from seeing all the crappy work being done, I had little patience. I dont know if the plywood was ever redone because my cabinets are still off kilter. They dont stay closed on that side of the kitchen. One day during the construction, I came home early to find one of the spanish speaking workers in my bedroom sitting down on my bed using my phone!!! I was upset. He should not have been in this part of the house, the opposite side of the house; not anywhere near the construction. He begged me not to report it. At this point I demanded to see credentials from each worker who entered my home and informed Dave of this. If there is no license, then he can not do work. I started seeing professional electricians, plumbers and tilers entering my home, then the work was professionally done at this point. Whew! After they left and work was completed I noticed things falling apart and mistakes done. Holes accidentally drilled in the tile in the shower that was filled with putty to disguise it. Gauges in the flooring in the kitchen that was filled with putty to disguise it also. Flooring in the bathroom that was cut improperly and glued down but came up in the corners later because it was not fitting under the threshhold. Slow leak behind the wall- in the corner of the shower. Not sure if it was sealed properly. Over-all I was very displeased with Silva Construction. They caused me so much stress and grief by using workers who were unprofessional and seemed to know little about carpentry. I don't believe they used licensed carpenters in my project. I would never recommend this company to others and would never use them again. read more

Approximate Cost: $20,150.00 Description Of Work: In January and February 2011, Silva Construction, Inc. remodeled our upstairs master bathroom. The job essentially consisted of completely tearing out an old shower, floor, sink and cabinet, and replacing them with good quality tile in the shower and floor, new cabinet, granite top, toilet, and miscellany. The entire job took 6 weeks, including some down time waiting for ordered items to arrive. The delays were never Silva's fault. I stayed involved in the project, doing a small amount of simple work myself, and with Silva's help selecting and purchasing most of my own fixtures, tile, cabinetry, etc., to the tune of about $8,000 of the total amount shown above. Silva did essentially all of the heavy work, including tear down, construction, finishing touches, etc. Member Comments: When I was looking for bids, other companies listened to what I wanted, and then gave me a verbal quote, or a written one with little detail. Silva listened, went back, and a few days later returned a detailed, itemized quote that I could understand. I really liked that. I studied it, made adjustments, and one more meeting produced an agreement we could both live with. Their detailed contract itemized what they would do, what I would do, and what I would buy for them to install. They also produced a list of task milestones and corresponding progress payment amounts. All this was very much within the spirit and the letter of state law. With everything spelled out ahead of time, my job went smoothly with no disagreements. They never pressured me for payments they had not earned. Throughout the job, Silva displayed the highest degree of competence, integrity, and best practices. Each employee did his tasks well, was friendly and received my input well. One of the owners dropped by most days to keep up on the work, and give direction for any problems that may have arisen. We love our new bathroom, and at the end I wrote them a special thank you letter for their good service. We have used Silva Construction several times and are always extremely pleased with their work. They complete the job on time and within budget. Not only that, but they are VERY accessible which we love! You can talk to any of them almost instantly--no waiting around for return phone calls. Their workmanship is superb. We have had them do many things for us some which required a lot of detail and are very difficult such has adding second story dormers and interior arches. If not done right, these types of things look BAD. But Silva consistently does excellent work. The last two times we used them we didn't even get other estimates or bids. We know we are getting the best with Silva Construction. No need to look further! read more

Very unprofessional towards clients. I do not recommend using this company AT ALL. They were extremely unorganized and there was a very apparent lack of communication between the employers and staff. I am utterly disappointed with my experience with this company, mostly with the management and their laissez faire approach on running a business. Remodeling my home was supposed to be a fun experience, but with the help of Silva (sometimes seen as sylva---??) Construction, it has basically turned into a nightmare of confusion, miscommunication, frustration, and a lot of fix-its. The employees themselves did nice work, though, they were always just as confused about the jobs and whenever I would ask for some insight on what was going on, they were eager to help, but had no help themselves.
