Let me start off by saying that Cala Bassa Beach Club is an absolutely gorgeous, multi-area beach…read moreclub that has something to offer everyone. My friends and I were a group of 6 staying in Ibiza, and after some research we realized this Cala was one of the more popular and beautiful on the island, so off we went. My friend is the one who organized the reservation, but I will say that it did take a bit to get a hold of people. We were initially between the sunbeds with umbrellas and the VIP sunbeds - but could never figure out from the club what the difference was (aside from price). Our 6 Sunbeds and umbrellas with a magnum rosé was about $750 (not including food). When we arrived, we realized that the non-VIP option is in a private area for the CBbC guests, but on a public beach so you on a busy day your front view is quite crowded. If you want to splurge more, you can opt for a VIP area that is just for club guests and no public access, however you will not be waterfront. ANYWAYS - after realizing that whole issue upon arrival, the rest of the day was absolutely fabulous. The staff is super attentive, and the menu is extensive. After the rosé we had some divine Gin and Tonics. The best part about this experience was lunch prepared on the literal sand. They set up tables and umbrellas in front of your chairs with whatever you order. We got a whole grilled fish, boquerones, oysters, salad and of course french fries. Eating beachside may have been one of my fave experiences of the trip. One thing to note when you leave - this area is quite secluded so I would arrange for a driver. They do have a taxi stand but it is super disorganized and the folks at the front check-in area were not very helpful when we were leaving. After about an hour of waiting for a car, we opted to order and uber and it was fine (just pricey). Thankfully, there are plenty of bars in the beach club where we waited with drinks until our car came. Overall, this is a nice experience for a beach day with a group. It will be pricey, but relaxing!

Special review for #500!!!!!…read more Amazing paella with amazing view. Seaside view from Cala D'Hort. This is not super touristy you'll need a rental to drive out here and most don't. Parking can be a pain, there is a lot at the bottom at the end of the road. Otherwise, park along the road and walk down. We were lucky to snag the last table by the beach. Great view. Just so magical. We started off with bread and fresh olive platter. We ordered the artichokes, a seafood paella for 2, a mixed paella for 2, and a carafe of Sangria. The artichokes was a chilled dish. (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/cala-d-hort-restaurant-sant-josep-de-sa-talaia-2#6tfrV_Y_yxXJmCfbz6049g) The paellas take a while to cook - they came out in 2 gigantic cast irons. Best paella ever. Seafood had fish, prawns, clams, mussels, calamari, octopus. Mixed had about the same but with chicken and pork as well. It was well seasoned and not dry - very tasty. (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/cala-d-hort-restaurant-sant-josep-de-sa-talaia-2#ZkQSMtmwt1udnzC7VK-7xA) (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/cala-d-hort-restaurant-sant-josep-de-sa-talaia-2#BV9_n_-nbePXjF3KI_Yk1Q) The sangria pitcher came with too many ice cubes and a good amount of fruit. Let the fruit soak in the alcohol before you eat it towards the end. (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/cala-d-hort-restaurant-sant-josep-de-sa-talaia-2#6KUG3LqFDeQeYC2URQfRAQ) Overall - fantastic meal with an amazing view. Hidden gem

The Ibizan tomatoes salad (19€) starts with a bed of ripe chopped tomatoes and tops it with a full burrata, which when broken creates a creaminess to the dish. Strawberries and basil add an interesting refreshing element, but I would have skipped the crunchy pistachios that detract from the silkiness of the salad. I can't turn down trying a roasted aubergine (17€), which when done well takes the spongy eggplant and turns it into a creamy concoction. Es Ventall whole roasts the vegetable until it's soft but still holds its shape and smears a sugary praline and fruit mixture on top. The dish is too dessert-like for me, I wish the praline spread was replaced with something savoury that would go better with the basil cream. Our waiter describes the tomato and grilled prawn salad (26€) as being smaller, which is an understatement as the dish is truly skimpy. To call the crustaceans on the plate as grilled "prawns" is misleading, the thumb sized items are spot prawn sized, which are generally served by the half cup than individually. These Ibiza prawns are equally sweet, but given their petite size, the chef really needs to give more of these on the plate or at least leave them in the shell. At the very least, serve the "prawns" with more than a scant quartered tomato, crème fraiche, and an oil sorbet that while adds a lovely richness, melts into nothingness. For the price, this dish needs more tomatoes, other vegetables, and a helping of grilled crostini to swipe up the sauces. We didn't order the cuttlefish and Ibiza prawns' paella with aioli (24€ per serving; a three serving portion pictured below), but the kitchen mistakenly mixed up our order with another table, so we ended up having it as our main. While the dish had a lovely aroma, the rice was awfully salty reminding me of the soy sauce tasting concoction I had in Barcelona a decade earlier. Perhaps this is the traditional way of preparing paella, but the saltiness is so pungent that it detracts from the seafood and the rice becomes saturated in sauce that there's no crispy bottom. This paella was a bust.

The hotel provides free breakfast through this restaurant and that was 10/10 each morning. The dinner was also amazing. We had frozen daiquiris, and pina coladas which were soo refreshing. My friend had the seafood paella which was so flavorful- the only negative about the dish to me was that the rice was a bit too hard. I had the soy noodles with vegetables and shrimp. I told them to make it spicy and it was super spicy- loved it. I also got a goat cheese salad as well and everything came out to less than 100 euros. Their portions are pretty reasonable and it is a clean, cute spot. We ate indoors but there is also an indoor section . The service here is efficient and friendly, I can't wait to visit again.

This was a chance encounter. Maybe if I had a Yelp review to help me out I wouldn't have gone here…read more We can definitely start with the positive which is the food. The food is delicious. They have options of indian, Latin and different options to try from. According to the menu they are directed under different shifts. The food was delicious. It was the most flavorful and seasoned food that I had in my entire trip to spain. However that's where the positives end. The place was packed! So we were hopeful that it would be a great experience but it is not well managed or organized. Multiple servers were overlapping in different sections and yet it took four attempts to get water, three attempts to get our check and uncounted attempts to get service. We asked one person for water. They wrote it down, said okay and then never came back. This happened four times. In the end, two individuals did end up bringing water to the table. One of them had the nerve to tell us that we should be asking the same server and not asking multiple people. I had to explain to him that the reason why we asked multiple people is because it took so incredibly long for it to come. And, we couldn't find our previous server because he disappeared to another section. They tried multiple times to use my card for payment. It kept saying error and the gentleman stated that it was due to issues with their wi-fi. When I asked him to just make sure that it didn't go through multiple times, he had such a nasty attitude. Two other tables experienced similar situations. One gentleman actually got into an argument with a staff member because he was waiting to pay his check for so long. I'm sure this place makes money. I'm sure the food has people coming back and it seems to be one of the better food options around. Perhaps they were overwhelmed that evening and this was an anomaly but based on my experience they do not know how to run an efficient restaurant when busy.
