Have you seen the silk pillow cases on the market? I went to this place in search of silk. What a found was something completely different. They had a massive collection of synthetic fabrics among cotton and other types of fabric. No silk to be found here. It's too expensive- is what the owners said. Regardless, this place is a must go see for yourself kind of place. I made a killing! Came home with many yards of fabric to create all sorts of things. The prices were cheap and they were extremely helpful. I've been on a blouse making kick for the pass few months. So this was a wonderful find. Cons: Horrible customer service!!! The manger is rude, abrasive, and crass. It's interesting how a business such as this one profits so much from a community it simply does not respect. Crammed. Love the huge selection of fabrics they have. I can browse for hours and hours to find the fabric I want. I also love the amount of yarns and accessories they have. I'm also glad I don't have to go to the city to get this kind of selection. The prices are also very great read more

I was there on 8/29/2021 with my sister-in-law to buy some African and Tullie materials. There were 3 workers one lady and two gentlemen who attend to me as I was buying the fabric for someone in Florida where I am from. they were so patience with me as I was face timing the person who I was buying it for so that person could see the different designs. one gentleman lift the different material so we could chose from the batch. They all three were so helpful and the price for the material was very good. I definitely will go back there whenever I visit NY again. Rude staff. I came in to get a seam ripper and to look at some ribbon. Both were behind a cutting table, so I went around to look and then got reprimanded for being behind the counter. I tried to explain that I didn't realize and I was just looking at the seam rippers, but the guy just kept on and on, even after I handed back the seam ripper. read more

I had to drive to this store - it's a bit of a hike to get to. The closest train is the #3 IRT to Rockaway Avenue about 8 loooong blocks away (and smack dab in the heart of Brownsville). It's hard to find silk dupioni fabric in a shop that doesn't charge you crazy prices. I called them to confirm they sold this and when I got there I was happy to find a large variety of colors. I made some beautiful pillows for my Moroccan themed room for a fraction of the cost I found online - and with the colors I wanted and could actually see and feel! Also, at the back of the store there are TONS of notions (zippers, elastic at various widths, fabric dyes, yarn, knitting supplies, buttons, snaps and hook/eye closures, etc.) The place isn't huge but holds a large amount of nice materials, including a decent amount of African mudcloth. Again, these prices are WAY better than what I found in the Manhattan stores along 7th Avenue for sure.
