I would look somewhere else for tax help. I went to them because I do not understand the tax code…read more I filled out several pages of information for them to do my taxes. I wrote a cover letter and made notes in their documentation that I had just retired the previous year and my only income was my Pension and Social Security. They completed my taxes without my Social Security income because I had not given them the form. Instead of calling me and asking for it and explaining to me that Social Security can be taxable they totally ignored my notes and did not question me. I filed those taxes and a year later I received a letter from the IRS saying that I owe them over $1,000 because my Social Security was not included in my income. When I talked to the man who figured my taxes he was very rude and unkind. He took no blame in the error and placed all the blame on me. After a long conversation with him being mean and rude, I told him the least he could do is apologize for not calling me and questioning me about my Social Security. He then apologized. I paid them a lot of money to prepare my taxes because I do not know the tax code. If I did, I would not have needed a CPA. I will never use them again and do not recommend them.

I hired Rita as I had to be out of the state of Illinois for so many months due to my sister being on a respirator for weeks in the hospital, not in Illinois. My sister did eventually die from COVID19 once she was taken off of the respirator. I had to move my elderly mother back to Illinois in which took me months. Over a year later, I found out that Rita did NOT file my 2019 taxes, did NOT find out why IDOR was sending me back tax letters, and now, she's told me that she has lost my only copy of my 2018 taxes. I did not receive the second stimulus check due to the fact that Rita did NOT do what she was hired to do. I will not receive the third stimulus check either, until my CPA Attorney files my 2019 and now, 2020 taxes. I had to order my 2018 Tax Return Transcript myself as Rita supposedly "lost" my file. She actually told me this over the phone. How does a licensed CPA "lose" your file? They do NOT! My CPA Tax Attorney said that I've been lied to due to the fact that Rita did not do her job and has cost me hundreds of dollars in penalties and fees. I would give her a 0 if I could, but the YELP system makes you pick a 1 instead.
