I am tea-obsessive, and while traveling this summer, I had good tea, but what I really wanted was a…read moretea experience. When I found this place, I was pretty sure that I got it right. It was a lovely summer day, and they sat us outside in a covered area. You would not even know you are in a busy tourist area. The ambiance was adorable, and I felt I went back in time when they sat us in the corner next to an older gentleman painting watercolors. The tea was perfect and just what I wanted. We opted for breakfast and were not disappointed either. I recommend making a reservation. We went on the off chance that we might get a seat and lucked out because the rest of the day was fully booked. Also, stop by the tea shop for your tea supplies. I found things there that I was not able to find in the states.

I came to Haas&Haas for breakfast with my boyfriend around 10:30AM on a Saturday. This cute cafe has seating available outdoors in the square but also a really cute half indoor/half outdoor garden like area where they also have lots of seating inside. Service was amazing, our waiter was very nice and did not rush us at all. For food we got some regular scrambled eggs and some with ham. The eggs were very light and fluffy. They came with a side of toast with butter for which we got whole grain and that was also very good, perfectly toasted and with a nice rustic flavor. The ham in my boyfriend's dish was delicious! Nice savory and juicy addition to pair with your eggs if you want extra protein. Felt very lean too. We got some coffee which was very flavorful but smooth at the same time. We finished our meal by splitting an Apple strudel which was divine--super flaky, with a nice crisp but moist, cinnamon-y filling-- and this flourless chocolate hazelnut cake which was similar in texture to banana bread but tasted like Nutella, it was also amazing. There are bathrooms available in the back which are very clean as well for customers! Overall really loved my experience here and I definitely would recommend for anyone looking for some good food with a very nice view of the back of the cathedral in Stephansplatz and a relaxed ambiance.

They have a very interesting store front, with a vast assortment of dried teas, accompanied by ornaments and tchotchkes in the windows. Come to find out, Jäger Tee is Vienna's oldest tea shop (150 years!), and a very classy place. Its staff know tea inside and out, if that's possible, and can answer any question you could possibly have about their products, or tea in general. The shop has actually been in the family since its creation, which is pretty cool. The place itself is cozy and quaint, and a site to be appreciated in and of itself. There is even a charming, albeit small, tea room in the back of the shop. Not only will you be hard-pressed to find a place with a better tea selection in Vienna, but this place also sells some AMAZING shortbread cookies that are also made with tea! And this summer they had an iced matcha tea (green tea), that was liked by pretty much everyone at the Elite event (even people who normally don't like matcha tea, green tea in general, or iced tea!) Finally, while it might seem a bit pricey, for the quality of the products and given the fact that you probably can't find most of the teas at other shops in Vienna, the prices seem completely reasonable, particularly given the helpfulness and knowledge of the staff. I'll definitely return to Jäger Tee.

I tried 8 different flavors, but still felt there was so much to explore. Holländer: Very creamy! It was basically like a nicely flavored ball of cream rolled in toasted almonds. Himbeer Torte: Loved the fresh raspberry overload. A great rush of sweet and tart. Though the texture was a little odd, kinda like Jell-O in cake form. Oberlaa Kurbad Torte: Many thin layers of cake alternating with thin layers of cream. Tasted kinda chocolatey and kinda caramelly. And it was delicious! Sacher Torte: Finally tried the famous sacher torte. To be honest, it kinda just tastes like a dense chocolate cake. The apricot jam layer is very thin, so you barely taste it against the rich chocolate. Kardinal Schnitte: Perhaps the most memorable cake I tried. It was so light and fluffy. Felt like clouds of meringue surrounding a light cream. Also, had a very subtle light taste. Maroni-Obers Torte: Lots of nice sweet chestnut paste alongside fluffy cake. Quite yummy. Topfen-Frucht Torte: A few layers of sweet and tart fruit and then some layers that reminded me of cheesecake. Trüffel Torte: It was in the same format was the Oberlaa Kurbad Torte with many alternating layers of cake and cream. Except this one was all chocolate. And, honestly, I liked it more than the Sacher Torte.
