Nice, traditional Viennese café. When it comes to "traditional Viennese cafés", I usually am a…read morelittle apprehensive since the waiters are known for not being too friendly, and I always feel like I've done something wrong, but in Café Ritter I felt pretty at ease. The waitress isn't overly warm, but generally friendly and didn't look at me skeptically despite my being a slightly shabby 20-something student with a laptop. My order was served VERY quickly - coffee within the a minute or two, and scrambled eggs after 5 minutes. It's not super cheap - 4,80 for scrambled eggs (two small eggs) with a bread roll on the side - but it's okay. My breakfast was delicious, and the coffee was also quite good.
I was there on a Wednesday morning (11 am), and so it was rather quiet and relaxed there. There's some music in the background, but at a comfortably low volume. There's free internet (Freewave) and even an electric outlet at my table, so that's quite convenient.
If it were just a bit cheaper, I might have become a regular - as it is, I think I'll come back here once in a while.
UPDATE: As it happens, when I paid for my breakfast, the bread roll cost an extra 1,80. I'm almost tempted to lower my rating for that, since I didn't actually ask for a bread roll, but I'm going to give them the benefit of a doubt and assume they did tell me about the extra price and that I over-/misheard it or something. In any case, that makes 7,60 for two eggs and a breadroll, which is kind of expensive.
