We were on the road in the Bishop area and needed to refresh our clothing supply a quick search showed Sarah Sud right in downtown Bishop. The laundromat was pretty busy, but the prices were reasonable 250 for a wash three bucks to dry clothes. If you want to meet up with some hikers, this is definitely a hub for Dirty PCT hike hikers who want to wash their clothes you'll have plenty of good company there if you'd like to chat about hiking. We really appreciated being able to get some laundry done and it was pretty quick maybe an hour and a half to get it all accomplished. Highly recommended!!! read more

We have been using this laundromat since the '70's when we come to Bishop to go camping. Very clean and the machines are efficient.

The only reason I/we visited a laundromat while traveling, is because our small doggy pee peed on her bed :( It was open, it was clean, it didn't take long. A little bit steep (yes, I understand why), but like I said, the only reason we came was because of a urine soaked bed accident & didn't want her to sleep on a uncomfortable towel. But be prepared to pay for clean items. It's your typical laundry mat. It's got cute vintage decor that looks like it's been there for a good while. Coin machines that accommodate among other items you'd expect or hope for. We went at night, not too long before they closed, before the last wash. Just be aware of your surroundings, because I saw a creepy guy on a bike, circling around by and staring in. Also be aware there are local divey motels close by, hidden in residential streets - that's where we saw him riding off to. And that is always good practice any and everywhere these days, just watch your back always. Good to know there are two in town. Maybe three and also one in Mammoth. read more

No stars. I don't usually use laundromats but my dryer caught fire and needed clean clothes. Machines were dirty... tables were dirty. Attendant was a little guy, wearing pajamas, with an rude attitude that wouldn't listen to anything. Only talked over me. I quickly realized ,there was no way he was going to listen. Left with my (less than) clean clothes. Needless to say... I will never use that laundromat ever again. This is a nice looking little facility in a great location, and with low prices... but its equipment fails at the one thing it is supposed to do: clean clothes. We washed three loads in their top-loaders, began drying one of them, then noticed that none of the clothes were fully cleaned. Figuring that perhaps the older-looking machines we used were faulty, we started re-washing in newer-vintage ones... but with the same results. I went to their restroom and ran the hot water for a minute to make sure their water heater wasn't broken, and it got "hot-ish" -- not scalding hot as I expected, but at least more than just "warm." I'm not sure if their "hot" water isn't making it to the machines, if the aging machines are having issues, of if our brand-new bottle of Tide is somehow defective... but we're currently taking our twice-washed clothing down the street to another laundromat for another go before we bake on the remaining stains and smudges in the dryer. read more

Bishop now (June 2015) sports ChoiceS (!) of laundromats; three, I believe. Sierra Suds lies on Academy [Avenue or Street, the local signs can't decide], bordering an alley and adjacent to a dry cleaner. Clean inside with abundant washers, including two of larger-than-standard load size. Dryers *generally* return ten minutes of drying time per quarter. Dryer temperature can be selected by the launderer, but the machines have final say -- they know best, after all. Unless their dampness sensor is defective, for instance. Eugene enjoyed a better-than-average laundromat experience at Bishop's Sierra Suds, after losing only $0.75 to non-compliant machines. He brought his own detergent, however, so your mileage may vary. read more

Wonderful in all aspects and then some. I typically don't write reviews but I feel like my experience should shared. After a nonstop drive from Salt Lake City to Bishop with my 9yr old autistic daughter(nonverbal, strongly defies potty training, sensory struggles) and my 1yr old I had gone through all the clothes I'd packed between potty accidents, sippy cup malfunctions, flung food and runny noses. I found Sierra Suds open at 8pm and when I was sizing up if I could feel safe having my kids in there, I found an older gentleman chatting with a young couple while he wiped down washers, a few other patrons were busy with phones and the overall feel was welcoming. Not only was I able to get everything washed and dried quickly without paying outrageous fees, my baby was able to wobble walk on a clean floor without finding things to taste test, my daughter began to struggle with the low hum of dryers so the kind owner found some headphones for her to plug into her tablet and offered her a "special chair"(desk chair with wheels). When you struggle to even get gas, groceries or go to bank with your special needs child it is so overwhelming when you find an establishment your child is accepted and comfortable without having to ask for extra considerations or getting dirty looks when there's a meltdown. I am so grateful for the amazing experience AND the clean laundry!!! It's been a few weeks since I was there and plan to return in the summer and I will be back to Sierra Suds each and every time I'm in the area even if I only have a towel to wash!! How refreshing to enter a laundromat and not be afraid to put your clothes in the washers! And see every WASHER & DRYER WORKING. I was traveling through with my 4 year old grandson who had an accident on his blankets so besides clothes we needed the large washer and being on a budget was happy to see how affordable the machines were. The owner Gene was there on site wiping down the machines and was very friendly. Very good-looking I might add. We travel a lot and have to stop along the way to do laundry and this is the first time I have ever been in a laundromat that DOESNT have Out of Order on every other machine or crap at the bottom of the washers I will definitely tell my fellow travelers about this place and will stop here again on my return. Dryers are very slow - bring LOTS of quarters. We hauled half of our stuff home to hang-dry it. Windows and front door smeared with finger prints, which is just cosmetic I know, but that combined with dust-covered sorting/folding tables kind of shows a lack of care. In all fairness there had been a big wind with lot's of dust the day before - but we were at the laundry well after opening, (2 hours) and the counters were still thick with dust. A complaint to the attendant/owner resulted in the counter we were using being wiped down; the rest were ignored. read more

The washers and dryers are fine. Wifi is super slow or nonfunctional. Very few outlets to plug into and the staff are strict and rude about any cords being dragged around. Bathrooms are locked and you have to ask permission to use them. Also expensive. read more

Stopped here for Mule Days..I am very satisfied with Laundromat. Amazed at how quick and easy it was to access washers and dryers. Nice and clean machinery, restroom and comfortable seating. The BEST part of my whole experience is I saved money..Cheaper than most laundry mats! read more
