We were loyal customers since before 1993 and when the present owner bought the company we thought it would be great! It has been a nightmare. The office staff are very rude, the delivery men are fantastic but having too work under the mgmt I'm surprised they still have a good attitude. My mother called too ask for a gas leak numerous times and in the last 2 yrs she had them out 3 times and they always say there's no leak! Well we finally made the decision too switch too Amerigas, within them being here for under 30 minutes they told my mother that has a gas leak and they red tagged her home and are giving her all.new line. I was not contacted for a forwarding address after cancelling service, I had to call months later and was not helped professionally, the "family owner" who is also the business manager was rude and charged me $30 for their screw up of not getting a forwarding address to cancel the first check and she almost didn't want to issue my refund to me at all unless I agreed to the $30 charge that isn't in the contract if they have to reissue a check. I wouldn't recommend this propane company or the customer service/owner at all to anyone. I recommend everyone read the contract because they don't follow it. Just make thing s up as they go, or being unwilling to work with customers. Very disappointed in the service that I received. read more

I recently needed propane services in Bishop and went to Eastern Sierra to inquire about their pricing. I was surprised by the rude response I received from their staff. Their customer service was unprofessional and I got the impression they didn't want to go out of their way to add me as a new client. I didn't escalate to the owner (I had seen enough) but feel he needs to do some serious training if not replace one employee in particular. I chose to go with another company. read more

While on vacation, my truck over heated while headed to these guys to get propane, barely made it, and couldn't go any further. The guy filling my tanks seemed concerned about my truck. I asked him to recommend a mechanic, and told him I was going to call a tow truck. While all this was going on, they let me go inside where it was cool, it was 102 outside, they even let me bring my dogs inside. And while I was dealing with the truck the ladies inside watched my dogs for me. These people are so kind and helpful, and they didn't have to go that far for me at all. This is the place to fill your tanks while traveling,,,and by the way, they have RV supplies there too. They are just south of the golf course so you don't have to deal with down town Bishop, easy in and easy out. Thanks for a great experience. read more

Really bad propane company. Their bills do not inform you when payment is due. You get your bill on a Monday and by Wednesday your propane gets shut off because you're late? -_- I dont know but they should at least advise you when they're gonna shut it off. They charge for gas that really isn't delivered. We have a home in Mammoth and we do not rent. We know for a fact this company charged us twice to fill our tank when we didn't need it. Each time they said they gave us approximately 30% to fill. They did that two months in a row. We called and emailed to be put on will call. At first they refused but they finally agreed. It has been over two months since then and we have used less than 15% of our tank. When I complained they did not offer any refund. They are a rip off! read more

Today no hot water from my on demand water heater. Contacted ESP and was connected with Tom the owner immediately. Discussed situation and based on conversation and my knowledge brought a couple of the component to ESP for diagnostic. Tom confirmed results of testing and discussed other issues the might be a factor in pilot lite mal function. Reinstalled tested components, cleaned as advised and instant hot water. These guys rock, Tom, Jason and Staff are the best in the Eastern Sierra and contantly repeat this type of service. You will never find a more honest and competitive business in all my experience! Well our positive experience did not last. Three weeks following the repairs made by Sierra Propane, our problem with our hot water heater returned. One day before we were to leave Bishop the hot water heater was over heating the water and setting off the pressure valve relief. I called early that morning and spoke with the repair manager. I was told they would try to get someone back. It was short notice on my part but hoped someone would at least stop by to see what could be done. We called early am and hoped they would call or come by. No one came by, nor did they call. Of course this changed my opinion of the service we had received earlier. The cost of the repairs was $260 plus the first time. I thought that amount , might have warranted a stop to see what the proble might be after they changed four thermostats as part of the first visit repair. read more

I'm very happy to highly recommend Eastern Sierra Propane. We were recently camping in Mammoth Lakes at the Lake George campground. I noticed that the volume of propane was very low coming out of out stove top burner in our trailer. We were scheduled to stay for 11 nights and we needed our propane to be operable. I called Tom at Eastern and he was very helpful on the phone with some tips as to what I should try. After trying what Tom recommended I came to the conclusion that what I had tried wasn't helping. Tom said that he could send someone up to my campsite the next day for a reasonable service call fee. The next day, Brian showed up and discovered that our regulator needed to be changed out. The choice in this area is abysmal at best. When we decided to dump Americas for our local company as we thought we would receive better service, prices etc. Not so, our loyalty to shopping and patronizing local companies has been met by consistently rude phone service and high prices. And if you can't pay them on their schedule they will shut you off in the dead of winter. Local is not always better! read more

The office staff is extremely rude, no customer service etiquette in the least. Delivery guys are friendly however. This company will cut your service in a heartbeat and then place you on "will call" without notice so of course the tank runs empty. read more

I don't want to write a review, but your email is disabled. I must attempt to resolve our issue before taking action in small claims court. On the evening of Monday, May 6th, I came home to find there was no propane. There wasn't a note on the door or message left on my phone. I managed to get my family through the evening without propane and was sure the problem would be fixed, along with an explanation of what had occurred. Tuesday evening, when I returned home from work the propane was back on so I wasn't concerned of what caused it to be shut off. Wednesday evening, I noticed a giant upright propane tank leaning on the back wall of my home. The tank is placed on unlevel ground on three cinder blocks, leaning against the house. With the current winds and nothing supporting it, I am a bit concerned. Turns out, a neighbor was doing some digging and broke the gas line. Prior to the installation of the new tank, one tank was used to service the 6 homes on our street. No problem for Eastern Sierra Propane, as they were planning to go to individual tanks anyway after being ordered to move the original tank as it was located on BLM land. Big problem for me, because I was never informed of their plans. For the past 24 years, I have paid my propane bill monthly after the meter reading. A week later, after installation of this obnoxious tank (at this point I assume it is temporary until the gas line is fixed), I receive three bills: $48.38 for annual rental of the tank; $256.81 to fill the tank; and $28.79 to check the home appliances. Shocked, I call and spoke to an owner inquiring how all this took place without my consent and explained that I wasn't prepared to pay this large bill. Instead of trying to work out some type of payment plan, he said, "Well I can't do anything about that." I proceeded to tell him that we don't have a contract for this new plan, and I shouldn't have to pay for Eastern Sierra Propane's illegal placement of the original tank shared by 6 homes. In addition, I mentioned that the new tank doesn't look safe leaning on the house and prefer it be in a different location. He indicated they still need to strap it down and if I want it moved, I will have to pay a relocation fee. He proceeded to say if I didn't want their conditions, than they will come and remove it. Since I cannot comply with their conditions, due and payable within 10 days, I have no choice but to have it removed and go without propane until I can afford an alternative. Small Claim to be filed for breach of contract and whatever court deems fair compensation for pain and suffering due to fraudulent discontinuation of service, depriving an adult and 2 minor children of their basic needs. I am willing to accept the following terms: resume monthly payments pro-rated based on average 12 month billing cycle for 11 month period, 12th month pay balance due; relocation of the tank at no charge; dismiss all other fees applied for installation and no annual rental fee. read more

this business is the worst. very rude office people. and their so called service technicians do not have a clue on how to fix propane heaters. if you call them for repairs. their service people will cost you money as their inexperience will keep them coming back and they still wont be able to fix your heater. and their customers end up paying through the roof. cant believe they can stay in business. do yourself a favor. call dean's plumbing and heating. they know what they are doing. read more
